The initial overhead view looked like a dream come true for any fisherman. As I am 70 now, I can't access all places as good as when I was a kid.(sadly) Great video Nick; always a welcome treat on Thursday.
First thing I’d like to say is I love your channel and really appreciate that you fish for a lot of unorthodox and under appreciated fish species. Not many people fish for things like gar and buffalo so it’s awesome to see. I’m just curious if you’ve ever considered targeting something like pike, Muskie, pickerel or whatever is in your area. I’ve never really seen you target anything mainstream except for large mouth, which is fine cause like I said it’s what makes your content really interesting. Tbh I don’t really know if you have stuff like small mouth, walleye, pike etc in your area so I’ve got no idea if that’s even on the table. I live in the Great Lakes region so I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to the number of unique species to target lol.
We definitely have northern pike and walleye in this part of the country (Illinois/Missouri). There are even specific lakes where muskie are stocked. I've only seen him catch a couple walleye/sauger. Not sure if he has ever tried targeting the larger pikes though. I'd like to try myself someday when I'm a little better at fishing.
He's having a blast, but many people who are really into fishing don't seek out rough fish, which is mostly what he's been catching in the spillways. So that may be why you don't see others fishing some of these places. Carp, gar, bowfin etc. are a lot of fun to catch, but are not as prized as gamefish like Muskies, northern pike, walleye, bass etc. Those hybrid bass are definately sought after in some areas though.
Absolutely the best fishing content on you tube. The awesome music, superb cinematography and your awesome self. Ty nick for bringing us along for the adventure xxxx ❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve been watching you for a long time now and it’s so cool that you came to charleston!! me and my buddy’s have pulled monsters out of that spill away
He *SHOULD HAVE* gone downstream in this video - there was still plenty of daylight left! He fished until DARK last week! 🙄 His videos have been getting shorter and shorter…
Another great video with some good catches! I think this spillway should be a new regular although the time to get there is time consuming! New great location and great fishing! Have a great and safe weekend and take care Nick! See you next adventure!😊
Catching those large fish on your ultra light. Reminded me of my Dad. He landed a twenty eight and a half pounds with his Orvis spinning reel with eight lb. Test line. He saw the knot at the end of the line three times. It took him an hour and a half to land it . I am thankful he taught me how to fish. He would have loved your show. 😊
Heya Nick. What a marvellous fishing video here. 618 Fishing style of course. 6:20 : One step further on the wet cement and that would have been a nice swimming adventure.
I think you have a good formula to get people to watch to the end! Some funny outtakes and we all hang around to see what happens. I see so many utube people begging for people to stay to the end and you can count on me to get to the end
You need to take a tour of the spillways in northern MS. There are 4 of them within about a 2 hous drive north to south. They are full of catfish, crappie, bass, and MASSIVE gar. I have seen gar down here twice as big as your biggest gar catch.
Wow Nick really awesome looking new spot... Looks like a great place to throw a square bill for those big big big flat heads!!!! Put some 50 lb braided line on your baitcaster and go for it bro!!!!
Amazing spot, with massive potential. A must revisit place . Those Buffalo look big and powerful, are they a member of the Carp family? . I any case an adventure to remember. Congratulations Nick . Thanks for sharing.
local here! never really been fishing alot. but i love to support other locals! you have amazing video quality my man and great presence on camera! keep it up! subbed!
Great episode. Nice catches. If you go back....you should try down stream right after those grass spots. Might be some even bigger ones downstream. Good luck. Keep the great content coming.cheers
That was a beautiful spillway. I could sit on the banks of that water in a lawn chair reading a book and drinking a couple beers. The fishing looked good too.
Nick you need to make a few more vids at this place!! There are definitely flatheads....channel cats and blues in there as well as far and bowfin! ❤️💥💥💥😃
Nic! What's going on man! 3 Buffalo two drums a white bass and a softshell turtle! That's a good day of fishing man! I love that Spillway great episode keep on getting down!
Nice video As I watched , I kept thinking Fill the reels with line IMO the drag will work better Also you can make longer casts when the reel is full of line
Awesome looking Spillway, glad it was worth going there. I caught a nice Drum with a Rooster tail the other day, i thought that was odd as well. Keep up the great Content
When I was a kid, I'd load up on perch, blugills, and crappie, and then go have fun with the carp and buffalos. Thank you, rough fish, for the memories.
Looks like you found another awesome fishing spot there! That water sure looks like there's some monsters lurking in it!
This my home town fishing spot
That looks like an incredible fishing spot, probably monsters downstream as well. Great video Nick!
I fish this spillway regularly. I'm so so happy to see you finally make it and try it out for yourself!! Hope you come back!
Where is this . I'm in New York but most definitely ready for a road trip
The initial overhead view looked like a dream come true for any fisherman. As I am 70 now, I can't access all places as good as when I was a kid.(sadly) Great video Nick; always a welcome treat on Thursday.
Feeling sick for the last few days, such a good way of recovering watching you have a blast catching fish. Thank for the good vibes and fun catches.
Hope you feel better soon. Love from the ole hillbilly Kenny, peace.
You're videos always remind me to keep an eye out for spillways! Another good video Nick.
Awesome buffalo session. Man I'd love to tie in to a bunch like that with a feeder rod.
Man I'd love to see another " catch and cook" that'd be pretty cool 👍🎣

I think nick likes the challenge of big fish on his ultralight 😂😂😂
Who doesn't?
Alway amazed that you are the only fishing these spots! Yes, do try this one again! Always waiting each week for your video!

He *SHOULD HAVE* gone downstream in this video - there was still plenty of daylight left! He fished until DARK last week! 🙄 His videos have been getting shorter and shorter…

That is a straight up picturesque spillway, no wonder the fish love it there! Good find!
Cool spillway! Definitely go again. Please get weights on those big buffalo or whatever big fish you catch on your next trip.
Thanks for the great video Nick!
Question...when you find a spillway on Google Maps, how do you know if it is open to public fishing?
Go back to that spillway!!!! Great video!!!!
Heya Nick.
What a marvellous fishing video here. 618 Fishing style of course.
6:20 : One step further on the wet cement and that would have been a nice swimming adventure.
Great video, you should do a fishing/ camping video. Get some night fishing footage and opportunities for catch and cooks.
Great day fishing.. Stay safe buddy. I for one would like to see you go back. TY for sharing.
I think you have a good formula to get people to watch to the end! Some funny outtakes and we all hang around to see what happens. I see so many utube people begging for people to stay to the end and you can count on me to get to the end

You need to go fish the spillway between Spirit Lake and East Okoboji, Iowa for huge muskies.

Nick you need to make a few more vids at this place!! There are definitely flatheads....channel cats and blues in there as well as far and bowfin! ❤️💥💥💥😃
