Demonetization did not meet its intended consequences. RBI has told more than 99% of 500 and 1000Rs notes were returned and are back in circulation. The cost of printing new notes was more than unreturned money. Demonetization was not and will never be a solution to tackle black money. India needs taxation reforms which will be never done either because of political or vested interests. India, as a country needs reform in all aspects to tackle corruption and black money, mere, bringing few laws based on political convenience will never yield results. All political parties have only one interest in mind I,e to be in power at any cost, and expecting them to do good for society is foolish.

Brilliant talk sir.. Sethu sir you are simply great and opening our eyes in every discussion of yours. You may be knowing in Philippines there was one very highly corrupt leader was defeated by voters and then subsequent govt passed legislation to nationalize entire asset of that one corrupt leader from entire world including Swiss bank. USA can arm twist Swiss bank to give all details with gun point. Hence it is possible to get information from Swiss bank by strong nation - No nation can give safe shelter for proved thieves from other nation. when our politicians deposit in Swiss bank if it is explicitly known as corruption money then I feel it is possible to get those information officially . Trouble is if Corruption is legal in India then it is difficult -- for example P NOTE was legal in India which is bearer and we have so many laws to promote corruption . for example a contractor can charge Rs 5 cores for 1 core work and Govt can award that to the contractor as Legal contract -- Like wise there are lot of legal routes with which corruption happens . contractor can give in turn as GIFT to the authorities and that GIft can be deposited etc,,, These IAS officers main job is to identify routes for legal corruption and suggest to minister to tweak the rules to promote legal corruption .

Black Money can't be eliminated. It was there always it will stay there always. It's nothing but money on which tax is not paid. Unfortunately, in our country we have such a high rate of tax for people that anyone will think that they should try to avoid the tax for the income they earn. The debate that having more black money will make anyone spend lavish is hollow thinking. There is no such thing. People spend money based on their needs and necessity. And rich people spend to earn more money. Doesn't matter whether it's black money or white money.
Sir, good conversation. One small correction - technical one. Rockets (unmanned ones) - you only need them to fly to the orbit and release the satellite. However, the airplanes (manned aircraft) requires you to fly and land. Technology seems similar but has a lot of changes. I don't debate about the favors or kickbacks some people may get.
