I lowered the music audio during various points of the video in order to make the unites stand out more (some unites have a short BGM).

There's a lot of enjoyable things about this game. I liked the change from a castle to a fleet and I loved using the rune cannons. Considering rune cannons are a lost technology a century later in the Suikoden timeline, I got a lot of enjoyment using them here. I also thought the graphics in this game flowed better than in Suikoden 5, and the camera angles were a ton better too.
But I think Suikoden 4 gets a lot of flack because its faults are very glaring. Reducing the party from 6 to 4 is completely impracticable when you have 108 characters to utilize. Also, the plot just got so frickin annoying with how characters just held and ran with the idiot ball for FAR too long when it came to what happened to Glen. Not to mention having Lazlo not even defend himself just because he's a silent hero made no sense.
Plus, the fact that your recruitment of Snowe had you practically begging him to join multiple times was unsatisfying, especially after everything he did to you. But otherwise this game is a lot of fun.
Rune cannons were fun and all but you figure them out in 2minutes then there is nothing to go from there. Equip opposite element cannons and keep shooting until silly A.I uses the weak element.
This series is one my most fav suikoden IV. The story is kinda weak but i really enjoy the war map battle systems, the ost and the graphic
@@satsuyurami And the most happy thing in Suikoden 4 is you can change character walking, like in Suikoden only hero can be used to walk on town and dungeon and others but this 4 is make a new thing I can play as Viki to explore town. This feature if you start over again the story after you done 1x.
Looking back, I really appreciate how they used motion capture for all of the Unite Attack animations! Before this video, I looked at Suikoden 5's Unite Attacks and the quality difference is astounding
After replaying it, it was not THAT bad. However, I liked all the other Suikoden games more than IV. The music was still awesome in IV!
I wanted to say the same thing. Suikoden IV was not that bad, but I remember the sea exploration was the biggest turn off. In term of story, scenes and background setting, it was quite beautiful...

The graphics are better. But V is a better game. This one, was not that great. Worst in the series for sure.
story-wise, the V is more superior than IV. and actually V isn't that bad.

@@edsfm14 Are you sure you played 2? I remember a vibrant and saturated color palette. Properly sized backgrounds. Snappy animations. Quick combat flow. Beautiful and bright rune visual effects.
Suikoden IV is not that bad..... Just maybe the story kinda bit off... But i love how they bring cameo from past game and also ted....

i love this game because it's graphic,and the unites attack.. the story is kinda interesting,but if you not play Suiko Tactic,it stil good,but itt's underrated.. and also,have 108 characters (SOD) in the whole game and you can ONLY bring four people is really a waste.. but still,i love this game
People seem to hate this game so much yet it blinds them to how amazing some of these unite attacks are, and the music!
I also like the fact that it does punish you for overusing the True rune the MC has.

@Ethos Magnos The Rune of Punishment does punish its use, unless you get all 108 stars it will try to kill the MC of IV. The Soul Eater Rune, also punishes the user but not in the same vein, it eats the souls that are close to its user to get more power which is the reason it rejected Windy as she refuses to be close to anyone which means no food. Heck the Rune of Begining's two halves are cursed to fight each other in some way.
the attack sequence looks like its done by amateur people with bad angles and close ups that it seemed it skipped the editing room.

These unite skills are underwhelming~ I did like the 4 people and ninja style unison though~ the rune of MC is quite nice though...since it really does stay true to it's effects on the caster~

4 was good except for the 4 characters party instead of 6, the TPS view was surprisingly good (for a ps2 game), and the HQ is original. 3 was the worst for me, the only suikoden without a hero and by far the worst combat system, tactics is still one of my favorite, with 5 and 2. 1 was good but a bit disapointing in the end, all these good S range characters and you can only take one since Flik and Victor invite themselves for the final fight and they're both S range. never played handheld's.
Suikoden for PSP is not only tierkries
Not bad, just not really strong. It should be played with Tactics for full enrichment though.
Also I'm noticing I'm in the minority of those who dislike V. Outside of the base, I really couldn't find anything I liked about the game.
The character design is decent I like it.

Tactics is worth playing due to the story being part of the chronology. Tierkreis and the psp one are just suikoden in title...

This game was my childhood and my favorite game of the series besides S1 & 2. I was highly disappointed when I found out this was rated the worse game in the series.
IV was lovely, and had its own charms compared to its predecessors. Of the mainline Suikoden games, I liked IV the least, but I don't think it deserved all the hate it got when it was released.
Probably folks hating on certain characters, or maybe the four person party size. I vaguely remember the sailing between islands being a little bit of a drag.

I had this game when I was younger and I loved it. It did a LOT for it's time, I mean you can tell there was a ton of work put into it. Games that come out now don't even hold all the features it does. I can't think of many games where you commandeer your own ship to any island you want wherein you can do more then one thing. Anyone else?

This game's not as awesome as the other suikoden games in the main series, but this game sure has the best unite attack animation, also I think it actually have better battling music than suikoden 5

for those who say this game sucks, it's probably coz they Suck at playing it...
its because the rune effect and animation not as good as the other. and have many useless character. but i still love this game :) i thing 3 the worse.

Never saw the unite with your four friends. It's probably my favorite one from the game now.
You can make a sub party and do 4 Razril knight unite attack.
OK so I saw the Love love Attack, Fisherman attack, berserk attack and I thought too myself this can't get any weirder then I saw the meow attack and died
the unite attacks in 4 are way better than 5. 5 just looks like auto attacks--at least some. not to mention belcoot's falcon rune effects.

The unite attack with Lino and Flare can be failed and the arrow finish in Lino's ass xD

Damn, all 3 suikodens coming after 2 just don't look as good at all. The game style really didn't transition to 3D well.
Suikoden III went well it is just IV and V honestly enjoyed the hell out of III.

roleplayerthegamer funniest shit ever. the "aristrocrats" were always one of my favorite characters starting at the first game. so when i found him in this one, as schlotenheim reinbach iii, of course i had him in my team. the first time i used his unite attack i literally laughed my ass off for 5 minutes straight. his rune skill made me laugh equally as hard.
Definitely my favorite of the series.

One of my favorite ones is the Adonis attack, the co-op with Kika/Lazlo and the beauty attack. AWESOOMMMEEEE

Worst game in the series is subjective, so sorry to burst your bubble. I played this game before and it's legit. Saying that the story is plain and very short doesn't fix wholes in your logic. You probably haven't played actual games with shorter gameplay and little content than this game.
I find this game boring, It doesn have a strong plot like in Suikoden 1 and 2. The music theme was their downfall, the game didn't have a memorable or good music tho.

I forgot to include Tactics, but I'd rate that above Tierkreis. I haven't been able to get into three, no matter how much I've tried. I've played it about 5 times through, and the changes just don't grip me. The whole.. "run around" battle thing stinks! I also hold a grudge against 3 for changing Yuber's outfit. The armor was cool.. how could they remove it! :(

Suikoden tsumugareshi is good suikoden except you understand the Jpn language and know how to recruit all of 108 sod.
