Jim is one of the few Americans you interviewed, and I admire watching your channel. He is eloquent, professional, well-mannered, hard-working, generous person. Hope he can stay in PH and build his charity and other projects to help employed more Filipinos.
Back at ya , " Mtn Mel " here, Ret. USN PR1- PJ SERE/ JEST ( P.I. ) in W. Colo. That AF Sgt. will love the Philippines ! Great people. I first went there in 1962 on USS RANGER . Returned many times . In 1968, I attended the Navy jungle school . Learning from the Negrito Trooper / Guides- saved Mt bacon in VN ! Later I had 3 yrs duty at JEST 1975 - 78. I Ret. in 1982 and have returned many times to the visit my Trooper friends mtn village---- and still considering on moving there - for a " Wnter Hideout " , plus teaching survival skills.
Good luck! Got lots of great memories of Subic's jungles of the monkeys and flying foxes. The Negritos income from Jest took a hammering due to Covid I hope you can help them get back on their feet.
interesting military time. contracting is also a great way to get financially ahead. it helped me out of a tough financial situation, completely rebuilt my life
Luckily I don't hear barking dogs where I live but we have a rooster barn right next to us but Roosters don't bother Me much.....Not even when I was just here visiting- I wake up at 6-7am anyway...lol
Thanks Mike. Shortly after I returned from my visit, I made the decision to retire and make the move. Getting settled in now, since the end of February. Continuing to look for the right place to settle long term, but feeling incredibly happy about my move.
One big problem in our schools, they do not teach thier students to open thier eyes that we have no MINES OF OIL, only education is thier way to scape poverty
He is right about helping the kids. As a kid in the nineties i was a recipient of Us aids skimmed milk, powdered yellow corn and oats. And in 2012 was given a rare opportunity to volunteer on a US grant in our locality to alleviate poverty I was 29 and I still am a volunteer today. I couldn't be more grateful for every generosity extended in our doorstep that inspires us to give no matter how little did we have. I wish him the best for his charity plans.
And I would like to add through the program I realised our poverty here is not from the lack of opportunity but it is in our culture and attitude that makes us poor.
This kind of man I wanna meet, very interesting. Thank you for choosing my country for your future plan foundation. Helping people in need is really fulfilling. God bless you, Sir Jim.
Mark I found out that because I retired from the Navy my VA will contact the VA in the Philippines and I will receive my med's from them and be treated if something requires it. Let the retired vet's know that:)
I pray God protects your guest’s dream of having an orphanage in the Philippines. I declare and decree what God has put in his heart will come to pass. No weapon formed against him and his family and everything important to him shall prosper in Jesus name. I thank God for his long life, supernatural protection and favor in the eyes of men and women. Amen.❤

Mark. I am in the Philippines for the next five weeks. I was wondering how to contact you? As, I might be an interesting candidate for one of your interviews if I make it to your area.
Great set of skills.. loves the country side. Bet this guy would do great out in the province of NE Luzon. Near Infanta (coastline) Mountains and beaches. Good interview Only caution would be when he does want to give back, might want to be very careful who\how to do so.
@PH Expat Prepper. I’m here now and will proceed with caution, ensuring I do things within the local regulations. I’m making a trip to an island off the Luzon east coast in a couple weeks.
My neighbor lived in Saudi Arabia for 25 years and didn't pay any income tax and when he came back to the US to retire his wife divorced him and took him for everything he had. Since he never paid tax he never paid into social security so now he's trying to survive on bologna sandwiches and $800 a month social security.
That's brutal. I think a common takeaway from all these interviews is don't get married and if you do have a rock solid prenup (which unfortunately don't exist).
Im glad that all these military guys did all that torturous training that I never had to do. I'm proud that I do less in one lifetime than these guys do in one day. The whole idea that adversity and discipline and military training makes you stronger and a better or superior person is not necessarily true in my mind. A lot of military guys I've known end up alcoholics and have difficulty in relationships.
