Master Clipart Thanks very much! Mind you, changing the gas cylinders at 4am in the driving hail and howling gales outside in my PJs isn't as much fun as was making this video :@)

What an excellent trip! I have just booked into the Raasay House in three weeks and can't wait. My only regret is I will not have my motorcycle with me to really enjoy the islands. Thanks for sharing Andrew.

Oh my word, you lucky thing! Raasay House is SOOO lovely, and Raasay itself is one of the friendliest islands there is. You'll have a blast even if you end up walking Calum's Road. Don't forget to read the book by Roger Hutchinson before you go. Enjoy!

Hi Andrew, What a seemingly isolated remote area, beautiful but desolate. Motorcycle, what a great way to view this regard landscape!
    Dougal is a true STAR!

In our house, the phrase for a very badly maintained, potholed road is a "Raasay road", since our trip there in August 2013. There was one stretch of road in particular, across the top - maybe where you encountered the new tarmac - that was practically impassable. We almost reversed out and went the other way (the lower route), and would have but for it being more difficult to see potholes when reversing.
Looking forwards to going back some day. It rained most of the two days we spent there.

    Hi Andrew,
We jointly own the houses on Fladda and go up there as often as we can for over 40 years- the most beautiful place in the world! We really enjoyed your clip!
    Thank you

Hi Andrew, I've read the book, and seen the play, but this is the first time I've seen Callum's Road for real. Thanks for sharing this journey , really enjoyed it.
As you may have picked up from the few comments over the last couple of weeks, I've only recently started watching your videos . You're doing a great job, and I'm thoroughly enjoying catching up with your journeys, some of which I've already experienced for myself, and some I'm now looking forward to even more. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Andrew, I'll do some research. That always makes things more interesting when visiting new places. Sad story about old Calum. Unfortunately, I will have to leave my little Yorkie (Rocky) home. He would love it. Your dog looks like he is quite the traveler.

I was on Raasay last September, what an amazing place, it was my first visit. I drove a hire car to Arnish, very hilly, twisting and narrow, quite nerve wracking in a strange car. I walked the circut past Torran and back inland. I was told the houses on Fladday are holiday homes, and you get there over the causeway, which is passable at low tide. Next time I want to walk right to the end and back from Arnish.

+Wessex Wanderer That sounds like a plan! Hmm, maybe a walk to Fladday would be good some time, too. Enjoy!

I have booked July 15 summer vacation there by motorcycle. Looking forward to it immensely.
This time my JRT stays at home, but she'd love it too.
    Daughter comes instead.

5:06 hard to believe but someone STOLE that sign. I walked Calum's Road and saw it there in 2019, but it went sometime after that according to my friend Barbarah who lives there.

Hi there, I'm wearing helmet and goggles from Davida, and the dog is wearing 'Doggles'. I got my Davida stuff from Silvermans in London, and you can order Doggles online.

When you mentioned the road not being too good, were you aware that one man built this road....this below may help you.
If anybody out there wishes to turn this into a song by adding music and a voice, be my guest and do not hesitate to get in touch on

Thanks for riding up there Andrew...good man!!!...Calum MacLeod should never be forgotten.
"" FOREVER MORE ""(For Calum McLeod)
    Verse 1
    A note to you,
    Good sir,
    T'remember,
    Who you were,
    For a fine man who,
    Paved the way,
    So folk may,
    Come his way.
    Verse 2
    A nod to you,
    Calum,
    T' remember,
    How you fought,
    And to a man who,
    Spent his days,
    So children,
    Could always say...
    CHORUS.
    OHHH...CALUM, WE SALUTE YOU,
AND THOUGH YOU'RE NOW LONG GONE,
    T'THE MAN WHO, SINGLE-HANDED-LY,
    SINGLE-HANDED-LY, SINGLE-HANDED-LY,
    BUILT A ROAD,DAY BY DAY,
WE SALUTE YOU HERE IN SONG,
CALUM MACLEOD, WE SALUTE YOU HERE, IN SONG.
    BRIDGE.
    TO A SCOTTISH LEGEND,
WHO NEVER GAVE IN OR UP,
HERE, IN WRITING'S, A FEW WORDS,
T'SAY HOW STRONG AND TOUGH, YOU WERE,
..AND IN HISTORY, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE.
    CHORUS again.
    EXTRA BRIDGE.
OHH...OHH..HOW'S A WRITER TO DEAL WITH DEALINGS,
WHEN HE FEELS THE STRONGEST PULL OF FEELING'S
....TOWARDS A MIGHTY MAN WHO PASSED AWAY, THE VERY DAY,
OF THIS SONGS WRITER'S..OWN BIRTHDAY DATE,
    THE 26th OF JANUARY, 1988.
    Verse 3
    Some thoughts to you,
    Calum,
    To defend your selfless,
    Selfless quest,
    And to the man,
    Who paved his way,
    Into history,
    And history knows his name.
    CHORUS again(x2).

I have never seen anything so damn cruel, making a wee dog run beside a motor bike, keeps him fit , he likes it , my arse. what if he was having a migrane eh ,poor bugger had no choice . man you need to think.

Are you for real ? You need to think before posting such a stupid comment . Here's a lesson in motorcycles for you as you obviously do not have a clue about modern machines . There is a device called a throttle . It varies the speed of the bike . Therefore the bike can travel at a slow walking speed or 100+ MPH . Therefore if you use your head you will realise that the bike speed can be set to suit the dog . Really , what planet are you from that you don't know this .
