Ladies, I had to explain to my wife the Red state mentality. Trump supporters have a RURAL mentality. Biden/Harris supporters(me) have an URBAN mentality. This means they perceive the world differently. They have different NEEDS but also different FEARS. Rural mentality is going hunting and fishing, camping and living off of the land. Urbanites do not have those needs, nor do they fear losing those things. Urbanites are concerned about crime, housing, traffic, unemployment, etc. For example, when Blue politicians start talking about controlling gun violence, the RED state mentality triggers the FEARS that they will sacrifice their gun rights. NOTHING ELSE matters; When Blue politicians talk about social programs that benefit Urban dwellers, the RURAL mind believes their tax dollars are going to support people who choose not to work, pay taxes and live off of welfare, specifically illegal immigrants. Donald Trump could be a convicted murderer and he would still get elected in RED states because he says he will protect them from their FEARS. get it?

I have know rural people who criticize their own children, who went college, for using “big words”.
Yesterday I posted about how I, as a Canadian, was going to handle our purchases when the 25% tariffs get placed. A young, black, American, male friend of ours commented about the “good” that will happen when his “main man” puts the tariffs on. He asserted that regular Americans, like him, will no longer have to pay any taxes because of one of Trump’s many promises(he is most definitely NOT in the top 1%). He’s a sweet man and so full of hope right now. He is one whose future I fear for. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that his Main Man was already backtracking on lowering the cost of groceries.

As a UK citizen I can’t grasp this. If a political party wins an election we expect them to honour their manifesto pledges. Why do Americans think otherwise? It’s bizarre to me.
If he had no intention of deporting anyone why then create essentially a new agency to manage it headed by Homan who has been extremely vocal about it as has Miller. However, logistically it's a very difficult thing to undertake. I suspect there'll be some sort of public display of apprehending undocumented individuals but they'll perhaps avoid the agricultural sector.
Americans are distrustful of the government doing what they promise let alone improving their lives so they vote for people who make them feel better no matter if those people made government be trustful in the first place. Most Americans also hate going to school btw.

I was quite shocked on a recent visit to a fairly rural part of Canada where I discovered that dairy cows are mostly kept in barns year round and not outside grazing real grass as in the UK. I suspect that farm in South Dakota is the same.

Well, look at his track record. No wall. No payment from Mexico. No Muslim ban. No solution for DACA. No records of what they did to the kids separated from their parents at the border. No increase of the number of judges to reject bogus asylum claims and get people deported. Torpedoed the bill to add border agents and drug screening sensors.
It's easy to believe that he's not going to keep his promises on immigration and border security.
And it's not just that. No healthcare plan. No infrastructure updates and upgrades.No "rocket fuel for the economy".
It's about racism.
