I Built a FIRE and EPOXY Guitar! The FLAMECASTER!

  • I destroyed a brand new guitar with FIRE and then I resurrected it using EPOXY! I was inspired by the fire epoxy table built by @Blacktail Studio This build was so much work I almost gave up. I've seen epoxy guitars and I've seen burnt wood guitars but I haven't seen a burnt wood and epoxy guitar before. Let me know what you think of my attempt at Shou Sugi Ban and Epoxy. Check out the link to the fire epoxy table that inspired this build below.
    Thanks for watching!

    Awesome video! Love the humor as well! So when it comes to pick guards I know that you can buy clear pick guards from reverb or Amazon if you want to show off that burnt wood. If not, a tortoise shell style pick guard could look quite nice!

    The pick guard really does take away from the beauty of this piece. If you decide to take it off you could just buy a clear one or make a clear one out of the epoxy if you want to keep it completely hand crafted on the body. Another idea is to make a pick guard out of a lighter colored thin wood, burn that and cover with the table epoxy. Great videos, super humor and wonderfully creative! Keep up the great work!

    The pick guard is irrelevant since the body is made of epoxy (it's not going to get scratched by a plastic pick). The problem is that guitar necks are not just screwed in. You have to check the angle and adjust it because you have altered the cavity that the neck sits in. I know it looks like a hunk of wood but it's a very finely tuned object that you (and many other TH-camrs) seem to think can be taken apart and slapped together at will. Otherwise, the guitar is pretty much useless.

    Cool finish on the guitar!! I think your best bet as far as the pickguard goes would be to use a clear guard-still holds the pickup and utilize the screw holes, but let’s all that beautifully burnt wood show through.🤘

    What was the reason for putting on the table top epoxy first? Couldn't you just have poured the whole thing? I'm curious because I like this so much that I may do a bass just like it. Great job!

    • @HAXMAN
      @HAXMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It needs a thin layer first to seal it. If you don’t do that you’ll get tons of bubbles. The tabletop epoxy will set much faster than the thick pour epoxy so that’s why I used it first. Thanks!

    You should do another one and then just tape around the edges of the guitar and drop in the cracks from all the burn like bright red a poxy let it cure and then clear coated because then you would see all the veins and the popup of the roid it would give it like a complete 3 dimensional look I think

    Beautiful guitar but the pickguard is defeating the purpose. I would have never put that ugly pickguard over all that beautiful burnt wood. I don't see the point in going through all that trouble and then covering up over half the body with the cheek piece of white plastic. Now if you remove but you got holes in the Buddy and they're always going to show Even if you drop fill them with super glue or clear epoxy you still going to be able to see the whole down underneath the clear if you try to use black super glue then you're going to see little black dots for the clear either way they're always going to show. Other than that I think it's cool I just don't understand the point of the pickguard. God bless you and your family!! Jimmy and NC....
