The long-awaited clean-up of decaying mobile homes in Mission Bay RV Resort at De Anza Cove starts Wednesday with the removal of one of the last remaining homes.
Over five years ago, many former residents left their trailers behind when the city's lease for permanent housing expired and forced them to move out. Some of the trailers deteriorated too much to move, and others were filled with asbestos - an environmental nightmare.

I'm assuming that at the rate this clean-up project is moving, the new campground will probably be completed, just as water levels rise in Mission Bay! 🤣
if they are mobile homes why don't they mobile them out of there ?
It is expensive to move a mobile home.
The truth is once a mobile home sits for several years they will be damaged a lot once you start the process of moving them.
Mobile homes are only "mobile" for a few years. Then they rot/corrode too much to be moved without them falling apart, possibly on a highway where it would cost a fortune to clean up. Also they are not worth moving, they're mold + rodent + insect infested, not fit for habitation. It's much cheaper to just bulldoze them.
It's time to make improvements.
