The St James Hospital, built on the site of an earlier facility, the St James General Marine Hospital, was opened on November 28, 1929, The Hospital, at that time, was considered a state-of-the-art medical facility and was opened to the public, It featured private wards and spacious living accommodation for doctors and nurses. Sir Reginald Edward Stubbs, while serving as Governor of Jamaica (1926-1932), initiated the construction of the Hospital

Bless up king, its nice seeing such lovely vlog as usual
Blessings everytime 😊
Man... Bless up. Big Up. My wife and I really appreciate your videos. I truly hope that they renovate this. We have a membership to Doctor's Cave, but we truly hope all of these vintage locations open up and are good for the public.
Thanks for your support. Yes I agree that these areas should be preserved, but with the plan that they have with improving the Hipstrip, I am not sure what they would do to the park.
@@BrownBossJaTours yeah man, my thoughts exactly. Mi kno dem waan a bury di wire deh. But at what cost enuh?
I sure love this area. We are tourists who spend months in Montego Bay. That aquasol property is very nice as well.
Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support. If ever you come back to Jamaica and need transportation, you can contact me.
Excellent video and history my friend... love the history and scenery....thanks Brown Boss...one question...where would you park you car to get to this park?
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. There are limited parking spaces like about 4 or 5 right next to the entrance of the park, so most people usually park behind Burger King.
Great content!
Thanks
Water looks good
Yes man
do a video on the troy bridge.
Thanks for the idea. It is about 2 hours from Montego Bay, so am not sure if I can make it to that side yet.
They definitely need to turn the hip strip into a one way thoroughfare heading in the easterly direction and make the sidewalks bigger for better accessable walking spaces and where possible input designated parking spaces and force the public to use them...then the top road would be used as the one way going in the westerly direction...this would help a great deal to minimize the congestion and confusion along the strip....you should pay a visit to the parish council meeting and voice this as a concerned montegonian or send them an email
....maybe they will listen
@@anthonystewart7675 The billion dollar plan is in place to improve the Hipstrip, but it has been delayed for sometime now. They plan to give the place a facelift and bury the electric wires underground and whole lot more. The strip has to remain a two way street because people want to stop and go back quickly.
@@BrownBossJaTours see thats a huge problem for the overall betterment of the strip bro....preferwnce has to be given to the majority over the desires and needs of a few...because making it a one way would massively increase the traffic flow in the area...because even with the construction of tbe bypass road..i can guarantee u that the strip will still be full of traffic..
@ Yea the bypass will help with traffic congestion a little, I still believe that there will be a lot of traffic even when the bypass is there. When it finish initially, people will use it a lot and then they will revert to the old route soon after. More will be needed in the long run.
Just a correction. That is not the location where lovers Park used to be. Lovers Park used to be at the old amphitheater where the stop light adjacent to the KFC on Howard Cooke Blvd now is
Oh wow. Didn’t know that. Even when I was going to school people use to say that Old Hospital Park is Lovers Park. Thanks for sharing.
This is a really informative video. I've driven past it dozens of times and never knew its history. I wonder if they plan to develop the land. Does anyone know where the parkade is supposed to go?
Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback. Not sure what they have planned for this park, but overall they will transform the entire Hipstrip: th-cam.com/video/HgXDO5-UwJU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Vp2U2m7CL2s3OzIf
@@MakingSenseOfJamaica there a plan a couple decades ago to build a 13 floor hotel there but the owners of Wexford Court hotel argued that such a building would be too tall and would Block their vire of the sea...
The parkade is supposed to go on tge old Jewish cemetery across from Casa Montego beside the old entrance to Cornwall Beach...
@@garfieldwhittaker944 Thank you!
That mashed down long time after it was relocated to Cornwall Regional Hospital...
Oh thanks for the information. I was just reading information online, I was not around at that time lol
Please give us an update on the nearby Vista condo project 🙏🏿
@ Hey are you talking about the Racquet Club?
@@BrownBossJaTours you're welcome. Yea, neither me but learned about its history before especially when some older generations told me about it...
@@BrownBossJaToursno...but rather the Vista condo project on the hill above the Old Hospital Park towards the Old Miranda Hill Hotel near the Fort Street Craft Market...
It's a disgrace Park run down
Ikr. It’s sad.
@@BrownBossJaToursalthough there has been a major improvement in the last couple years.
