- Vande Mataram from Bankim Chandra Chattopadyaya's "Anand Mutt" remains the classic Indian national song.
This song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the Music Director was Hemant Kumar Mukhopadyaya.
"Vande Mataram" was the Mantra, reciting which numerous Indians from Punjab to Tamilnaad braved death and fought the British occupation. Composed in simple Sanskrit, this is a national song of India and any day most nationalist Indians rate this song above "Jana Gana Mana", a song penned by Tagore welcoming King George as "Bharata Bhagya Vidhaata-Arbitrator of India's Destiny".
The Islamist veto and the nehruvian appeasement of islamism prevented "Vande Matharam" from becoming the National Anthem of India. And in a remarkable parody of History, Indians have a song, sung first welcoming a foreign dignitary, as the national anthem. nehru as the first prime minister of India did enormous damage to the soul of India. nehru's foot prints can be seen in most of India's social, economic, defence and foreign affairs problems.
One can not help noticing the superiority of this composition of "Vande Mataram", the complete one to the subsequent compositions which in comparison appear trite. Later compositions on account of composer's poor knowledge of Sanskrit and Indian culture could never reproduce the spirit and magic of Bankim's immortal work.
(Unlike the version here most other versions in internet make travesty of Bankim's song by truncating the lyrics)
Just fantastic! I am a tamilian who did my schooling in delhi. during my school days this song used to be played regularly during independence and republic day. Now unfortunately the stupidity of secularists, and idiocy of tamil leaders here, this song is not known to many. Such beautiful words. Thanks a lot for posting it. we need to make our children sing this song along with national anthem. Jai hind!
Bankim Ch chatterjee wrote this story ANANDAMATH 1875 on Sanyasi revolution 1840 and he called for a Hindu country from the hands of YABANS ie invader SULATNS and Turkish kings.Later he wrote DEVI CHOWDHURANI in which he attacked BRITISH.
The song was written long ago by him and he included this in the Novel.Bankim being deeply inspired by French revolution and french literature wrote many such novels following Alexandar Dumas style.
Lata Mangeshkar has sung this with incredible and pulsating veer ras, and Geeta Bali has done it equal justice visually. Prithviraj ji is also great in his role. Great music composition, great direction, awesome!
This is the greatest song ever written....was originally meant for Bengal, then undivided and later all of India.....this is the most Patriotic song ever........just worship this song...er cheye bhalo kichu hote parena r hobeo na konodin !!!!!

Even after 60 years of freedom movement and at the time of globalization . This song still has something to make you still and same can be felt in you body reaction . Just salute .

Listen to the haunting voice of Hemant Kumar echoing Lata's in the distance...Magnificent! Also listen to Hemant sahab's version which I find to be even better than Lataji's, although we are comparing masters here.

Important reasons for divisions are these:
(1) i-slamic exclusivism. Most muslims especially in the area that makes India today supported the division.
(2) Influential sections in Britain supported India's division.
(3) Lack of Statesmanship among Indian Politicians (In a similar situation Lincoln opted for Civil war. Indian leaders' i-slam appeasement thinking resulted in genocide and ethnic cleansing of Hindus. Our short sighted politicians have still not learn their lessons).

This is the right National Anthem it praises the motherland and makes us love her.
regarding the appropriateness of Jana Gana Mana as the national anthem of an independent India. The poem was composed in December 1911, precisely at the time of the Coronation Durbar of George V, and is a paean in praise of "the overlord of India's destiny".
"The Bengali poet Babu Rabindranath Tagore sang a song composed by him specially to welcome the Emperor." (Statesman, Dec. 28, 1911)

Nationalist Bengal of Sri Aurobindo, Vivekananda and Bankim is long gone;
Today we have nilotpal basu, prannoy roy and bipasha basu.
It has been decades since the rot set in and the bengali turned parochial. No point looking in the direction of bengal as you will see nothing but darkeness.
We nationalists see a glimmer only in the direction of Gujarat. Bengal, God willing, will follow what rest of the country led by Gujarat might just do.

This song should have been India's national anthem , rather than the jana gana mana ... as it has more relevance to the motherland.

The lyrics are important to many of us. There are those that are murdering the lyrics and passing off some trash as vande mathram song. The deceit is sickening.

this song is for maa kaali... but it represents india perfectly in british raj... perhaps even now.

The second step is to promote Hindu ideas to the world, and which is already happening. Yoga, meditation, ayurveda, reincarnation, Karma, Kundalini, Kirtan, Hare Krishna, etc. etc. Some of these ideas can and are being secularized. These ideas will shake the foundations of the other religions i.e Christianity and Islam. Then conversion will be easier. But this is a long term process.

Hindus from East bengal , illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh and after that Bhutanese and Nepalese have immigrated in North bengal (Gorkhas who were only 48,000 in 1947 are now 90 Lakhs )and now Gorkhas are demanding Gorkhaland.
Join Bihar , W bengal and Jharkhand if we have to bring back past glory of east india.

Know your facts that there were Nepalis in North Bengal from time immemorial....

It is naive to blame the British for islamist exclusivism. The fact is 'Jana Gana Mana', a song eulogising King George as 'Bharata Bhagya Vidhata', was finalized by nehruvian congress led constituent assembly in 1950, long after Brits left.
Islamist objection to the song is against depiction of our country in mother's form worthy of adoration. Islamism at its core (quran and sunnath) stress the distinctness of muslims and unwillingness to accept non-muslims and their beliefs as equals.
There is no population problem in India as India's population density is not any different from that of Europe. It is just mismangement that makes it seem overcrowded. And first step would be for you to return to the religion of your forefathers, and abandon all foreign ideas.
Why, this should be our national anthem,not "sissy" Jan Gan Man.
