  • Today we go behind the scenes with BAM Nuttall to see how far the works have come on. To watch a longer version of this video (coming soon), click the Join button. The longer version includes walking the full length of the beach, a peak in the old boathouse (being removed this weekend) and a walk under the platform to see the piles and work up close.

all of that is to strengthen the area around the station platforms, against the constant threat of the tide? It's a shame they have not found a more attractive solution 'cos it looks awwwwwwwful . . . ;-(

Absolute disgrace. They have done what the sea has failed to.

So sad that years of history is being destroyed because they couldn't have looked at alternative means such a breakwater further out.

I shall miss the waves crossing the platform and pouring on to the track.

Me... I like it. I think it’s a solution to a problem that will secure transport to the region. AND I believe that people will come spend money in Dawlish to see it and that increases prosperity here too. You neigh sayers - we have to have progress. Get on !, 💕💕v
Thank you Dawlish Beach Cams x

They stone is being taken away and they are going to build benches from it for the new railway station so at least the stone will remain nearby.

Another thought why not build in a zig zag pattern which would probably break up the waves .

Can’t say I understood all of it but seems ok. Good that they’re putting in a lift.
Hope there’s a camera that we can watch progress.
