Beautiful. I must tell you: that music at the end is just lovely, and I’ve come to associate it with your videos, and it just gives me joy. Thanks, Matt.
Always a GREAT 4am morning to open YT & see a new Badger video to watch. Thank you for your dedication of posting BUILD VIDEOS rather than "Top 5 tools", "Tips & Tricks" "Tool reviews", each week! I atarted watching YT years ago for knowledge. Build videos, how too's, ect. The algorithms for TY may have changed, but you haven't changed other than producing more & better content each week. Long atory short to say THANK YOU for NOT changing & chasing the $ on YT, sticking to your plan of being a contenet creator and doing what you love!
Hi Matt, lovely job!... Definitely room to make a floor standing lamp to match in the future. Can I make one suggestion to jazz that up a little bit with technology? That lamp base is huge and you could always put a wireless phone charger in the base from underneath. It would be fantastic to rest your phone on the base and let it charge. Just my two cents but still it's a fantastic job. Well done!
I've followed you for a long time Matt sometimes I've given a bit of stick over your builds but credits were credits due to the lamp one of the best things one seen you make
Neat lamp that reminded me of when I was a kid in the 60's I had a wooden sort of 'Anglepoise' lamp. It was really nifty. Can't remember what happened to it - I probably lost it in a move in the past 50 years. They turn up on ebay occasionally if you search for one.
That came out well Matt, it's good when you build something from a simple idea & sketch and it turns out OK with no mistakes so well done ! The countersink on the brass works in two ways as it eases the edges so as to be gentler on the flex but also reveals a wider edge of brass - nice touch !
Thanks for this! I want to make a floor lamp, and this has been very inspiring. Your lamp is not quite my style, but I do like the half-lap joinery for the arm, and the chunky base. Well done on this project. It looks great!
My wife and I were using your bottle opener you sent us this weekend. We were admiring the workmanship, brass, wood and leather. It works really well didn’t notice the magnet until it’s function kicked in. Fantastic use of different materials. That inspired me and now this lamp 😊. Thanks for a great gift and all these great videos, really enjoy and appreciate what you do.
Very nice design Matt! What also may have looked nice if the base were a thick metal sheet (with an industrial look, brushed), but then the brass would have to be swapped for metal parts. Love the look of brass as well, so that would be a tough decision!
That's lovely! I'm a little surprised you didn't try to take the cord into the base at the end (into the bottom of the stem, into the base & then out so it lays flat on the surface the lamp is sitting on)
Subbed to Readly based off this video 👍 never seen this magazine service before but seems like a great value offering if you enjoy the odd magazine. Thanks 😁
Matt, Very stylish may I say. Hmmmm.........You know an overhead length of similarly treated wood with the same cordage and suspended lights from it would look smashing in your workshop mate. Just a thought. Onya mate !!
Enjoyed this, Matt. Lovely simple design, but you've made it pop with that red and brass palette. Also agree that magazines (and wanky magazine instagram accounts) are the place to go for design inspiration - look forward to more like this one!
Nice work as ever. Watching you make the 15 degree cuts I noted the mitre saw moved a little. Wondered if it would be worth putting it on a thin board with a couple of bits on the front edge to make a bench hook to just add a little stability on the bench?
Great project, but I’m a bit worried about the exposed pulleys on your pillar drill. Surely there should be a cover over them to stop your hair getting caught!😢
Beautiful work, Matt! Well done! 😃 Have you ever seen one of those "flame LED" light bulbs? I'm thinking about getting some... 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great project, I'm interested to know how much of a drain your lights, planer, extractor and table saw had on the power pack? Seriously thinking of going down the same route when I come to electricity in my shed.
Hi Matt, really nice lamp build, simple, straightforward and elegant. I thought I might go for Readly but there doesn’t seem to be any woodwork mags in their range ? Am I missing something here?
Lovely simple lampholder! I do prefer a shade though rather than staring at a bare bulb as it can be a little harsh to look at. Something I thought about when you used the Ecoflow to test that light is that it's got no earth on it, but your cable for the lampholder was 3-core and presumably the brass holder is earthed. When it didn't light up and you reached for it to flick the switch I was worried it might've been a bad connection and shocked you! I presume the Ecoflow has some sort of monitoring to check for earth leakage or a fault?
Have done the same with blown fuses, why don't we just throw them in the bin straight away? 😂 Nope, back in the jar with all the good ones just to stress us out in the future.
I made a lamp for my mrs once. I took the guts and shade from an old lamp she broke and made a new base for it. I put a lot of effort into it and even repurposed old copper wire to give a stitching effect on the corners. She hated it and gave it to her mother. She put it on social media first and got lots affirmation first then unceremoniously dumped it at her mothers house. Women! Yours turned out lovely though mate. A nice twist on the angle poise.
Tried Readily - It's crap, nothing on woodworking, metalworking, blacksmithing, DIY. It's for the ladies. Oh, it does have Shooting mags but not knives. 🤔

Quite inspirational and love that beeswax finish. Thanks Matt👏🏼

I really like the material combination you used. The red wire really makes it pop
Thank you. I do like the red
Nicely done Matt. I like the design, and I suppose we are allowed to make one like it!
Thank you.
Nice. The brass, polished wood and the red flex go together well. Very tasteful.
Thank you very much
Fine project well presented.
Thank you
What a nice looking lamp, well made . Getting fuses mix up is easily done put a dud one with good one's. Well done Matt ,I like it😀😀🪛🪛🪛💡💡💡👍👍👍

Great looking lamp.

Go lamps!
Not big on the exposed wire, but still a great, relatively simple build and I appreciate the video. Keep up the great content.
Thank you
Hi Matt, that lamp stand turned out perfectly, the oil really brought the colour of the timber out, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Thank you Les
I can totally imagine this as a floor lamp in my rebuilt house. Also I think that would look stunning in sapele. Thanks for the inspiration!
It wood look good bigger.
i make lamps for a living and you really need a gromit in the brass tubes to prevent cable wear
nice lamp though 👍
Great build vid 👍

Probably used 20% of the power that day making the lamp.
Your hair was very close to the pilar drill pulley 😮
👍👍👍.Thank you

Trezz Chick. Nice job that Matt. Bob (Weston super Mare)
Thank you Bob
Clip at 1:00 looks very Dodgy 😂
Did you earth the brass lamp holder??
Yes
What’s your opinion on cordless orbital sanders…?
I like it. Would not want to go back to a corded one
