Noticing this getting a lot more views recently so must mean its time for UNC 2027 to select dorms? First of all, CONGRATS! Second, if y'all have any more questions feel free to reach out and DM me on insta (@_shivan), happy to help!!
Good job! Really liked the information. My daughter's first year was in Hinton James. She also said when UNC played at home you could hear the other buildings chanting TAR and HEELS back and forth!!💙👣
You are a completely awesome dude and personality, hands down! You would make my party 🎉 cut BUT 🤣I TOTALLY DISAGREE with your picks for best dorms! I was THE First Lady to live in Carmichael and it was new and fun and felt “posh” with great comraderie but a little elegant too! Clean and right across from Kenan football 🏈 stadium 🏟️!! Right next door was the infamous all- male dorm Teague! Older, dirtier but legendary and much sought after! My sister lived in THE NUMBER ONE chosen all female dorm…Cobb! Quaint and very historic layout where you could just FEEL the history of Chapel Hill! Rooms were HUGE and many young women chose it as their number one choice! So, I recommend visiting Chapel Hill to seek out your own ideas as to what hits you as THE home 🏡 for your best college experience! Thank you 🙏 You’re awesome 👏
Thank you! And hmm haven’t thought about that because I feel like you truly can’t experience campus without actually coming here, but I’ll definitely consider it. Dining halls are decent- the food is good and usually pretty high quality, only issue is it can get repetitive if you go every single day. Also is slightly expensive but super convenient if you’re living on campus so it kinda makes up for it. You can check out my vid on good in college for more info!
I stay at ehaus currently. Depending on which side of the room you pick, the desk will be in the front right corner, and the other desk will be at the bottom left corner of the room
Hahahah fair enough! That’s great to hear. If you’ve visited ehaus, do you think the vibe is similar? always have been curious given that they basically have the same layout
Buy the soccer or field hockey stadium on the highest level of the dorm building someone apparently thought to put (hi) in tape Someone tell me who did it Very welcoming
Can you talk about Morrison? I believe they are making it "the freshman dorm" for the freshmen who missed out on the first year college experience due to COVID.
Oh wait are they really?? Completely missed that So Morrison is really similar to hinton james (10 stories, quite social, suite style). The bathrooms are slightly different, the shower has an actual door rather than just a curtain and the sinks are a bit better. Rooms are maybe slightly smaller I think (could be the same tho). Location is awesome, 10 min walk from classes and 2 min walk from Chase and the gym. I was actually supposed to live there for this year before everything happened. If they’re allowing a lot of freshmen to stay there then it’s a really solid option tbh.
@Ben Kulberg what I meant to say was that all the freshmen who missed their first year experience due to COVID have been asked to stay at Morrison. Morrison will have all the traditional first year stuff so that the now sophomores do not miss out on the typical first year experience. As for where I got this information from, it's on the housing portals pdf I believe.
I just stayed in Granville for 2 weeks coaching basketball camp. You say this is 'apartment style' housing... What do you mean when you say that? It is basically two rooms joined by a toilet/shower room in between. So you have 4 people sharing one toilet and one shower/tub setup, and each room has its own sink. It sounds similar to other dorms but is it just 2 room suites.
Essentially I meant that it’s the closest thing to an apartment that you’re allowed to have as a freshman at UNC. Yes the setup of the rooms is similar to the honors dorms, but the location, the fact that it has parking and is owned and operated by another company, and it’s also more private. They offer some studios and 1beds too, i believe. In hindsight though, i should’ve said that it really isn’t too different from dorms (I made this video before I had any experience staying in a real apartment and now I do)
@@ShivNC No problem. Wasn't meant as criticism. Your videos are very helpful to kids wondering what to do. I am an adult who stayed in Granville 35 years ago and it was old then. Looks like UNC needs a developer to come in and build new dorms :) I was surprised that hasn't happened in all these years, when it has at the school where I live (ASU in Tempe)...
Honestly haven't been inside so I couldn't tell you for sure, but from what I've heard, they are better than dorms and the location is really good, but if you're looking for a normal apartment, then its better to search for off campus ones. Price is decent too I believe
Do you mean just two people sharing one bathroom? If so-nope, the closest thing you’d get to that is Granville (or the honors dorms if you’re strictly talking about dorms)
@@ShivNC That's dope bro, I'll be transferring in the fall and I'm from the same hometown as Jazmin which is how I met Chris lmao. Appreciate the informative vids on Carolina!!
Are they making Cobb available to freshmen this year? It's a hall style one so it'd fit into that category! I think its the biggest hall style dorm so may be a bit more social than the others, in a very good location too
@@alexandergeorgiev2631 gotcha…hmm those are honestly on opposite ends of the spectrum haha. Do you know if unc has said if freshman dorms will have reduced capacity or if they’ll be normal? That’s a pretty big thing to consider too

Thanks so much! Wow- I never got to experience that in my first year but that’s probably because our team wasn’t very good, haha. Sounds awesome
literally perfect timing. i was just looking at unc dorms 😭idk which one to pick
Hope it helps!! Lemme know if you have any more questions
heyy im going to unc this fall and im thinking about ehaus, which one did you end up choosing?
Thank you for this!🙏🏻 I’m going to UNC and had no clue what dorm I wanted to choose, and this honestly helped
That was the goal, glad to hear!! Which one are you leaning towards?
@@ShivNC I’m definitely leaning towards Ehaus

Can you do one of the layout of the rooms? And the desks? Jut trying to see how much space I got to see what will fit in there! Ehaus specifically

im gonna be first year at unc, for the first year dorms do you know which ones have private 1 bathrooms that aren't communal?
Sorry to break it to you, but none :/ closest thing would be Granville towers which is 2 to 1
had to subscribe
which one do you think lebron would pick
definitely hinton (lebron) james

Watch the acc tourney for now, the vid isn’t going anywhere 🙂 ...let’s just hope we don’t blow this lead again

Hinton James here... lets just say dorms are on live support

How many people is sharing one bathroom at Cobb?
Typically about 20-25 I would guess. Each bathroom has about 5 stalls and showers
