I finally threw all my florescent strips and replaced them with the harbor freight strips years ago. I have
never had a problem and the lighting is awesome.............

Lights look good ! Why build a new shop ? Pour a concrete floor in your shop add some insulation and a heat source , if it’s not big enough add on to it !

On the humidity issue you have.... I had the same issue. I poured concrete in my barn with visqueen under the concrete. It was still humid, so I bought a $200 dehumidifier and it has been a life saver. It’s amazing the amount of water it removes from my shop. That shop looks to me like it has potential if you finished the walls, and poured a floor. I put a wood furnace in mine as well as a hanging propane heater. My barn/shop was here when I bought the place, and was in in bad shape so I just fixed up what I had. It’s not perfect but I’m thankful to have a shop

I bought the same lights from Amazon for my garage. I installed 6 of them and the garage is so bright you need sunglasses to go out there but it is great I can work out there at night and since we live in Arizona it is not that cold this time of year. Thanks for the tip.

  • @brandonbeckemeyer1579

I use those same lights as a grow light and they have been working flawlessly for me for over a year. I thought about doing that in my garage but ended up doing a ballast bypass and used led bulbs since I already had all the fixtures wired in. Looks great and I think you will love the bright daylight color light for working.

For our big equipment sheds we use those LED corn cob bulbs that go into any light bulb outlet, but with them there very bright and in our sheds there 20ft or more high roofs so there high enough up to not mess with your eye and blind you.

You're going to really love those LED lights, the light they give off is completely different than fluorescent. I used all LED in my house. It's better lighting for filming, and the cost to run them is miniscule. If it were me I would buy another set and hang them instead of the fluorescent. I looked at your video from the beginning, and your video at the end, and there is a huge lighting difference. Great job it looks fantastic.

Having poor lighting makes me less likely to get something done in my shed -- who wants to work in the gloom? I went with a combination of the long LED fluorescent replacements similar to yours as well as three big High Pressure Sodium replacement types. I use the big ones in the center, and the strip ones as task lights around the perimeter. I love the 5000k (daylight) light. The dim yellow light from the old fluorescent tubes will not be missed!
Have you thought about putting in a mezzanine in the back of the shed? It gives you a ton of extra storage space, and the lower ceiling under the mezzanine is a great place for a work bench -- a lot easier to light! You can also make a room like I did -- but you would need to pour a concrete floor. Just some food for thought. Our pole bard had a gravel floor when we bought it as well, and we had concrete poured to stop the dampness. It is dramatically drier out there now!!

Let there be light . Looks great . I like the daylight for the shop . Hate daylight for in the house . Had a daylight bulb in the bed room and it drove me nuts , Like the way you can stagger the lights in line with cable connectors instead of putting up the lights end to end . You wish to get a real pole barn built some day . Had to laugh at that . Wish I had an artificial pole barn like you have . LOL .

way to go.....fluorescent is good but does not want to light up when the temperature is low. everything else is costly as you go up in illumination. leds have revolutionized the lighting industry. i do not believe you will be disappointed. i think you need to add another fixture to the ends of each string.......g

Just have 4 -60 w bulbs lighting the whole place and these long nights have me needing more light when I can muck around in my shop. These seem rather easy. Would love to see how they hook onto the screw bracket you are putting into your truss.

Another good light upgrade for a shop is spot lights on a switch to light up a work station or stationary tools. With a plan you can set them to remove the shadow you would cast on the work so you get good light on what you are working on.
Building a dedicated shop you can remote locate the air compressor in a sound proofed shed with an accumulator tank in the workshop to have good airflow without the sound of the compressor coming on all the time to mess with filming. With it closer to the house you can also have a smaller tank and outlet at the driveway to make filling tires easier then breaking out the portable compressor each time you need air.

  • @fredstanley5758
    @fredstanley5758 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Looks good my friend! I’m sure you probably already know this but you can also get a replacement LED light bulb/tube that converts those fluorescent light fixtures to LED if you were interested in going all LED for the purpose of saving a little bit on the electric bill. Either way it seems to have made a big improvement in the amount of light in the barn so I would definitely call that a win. 👍

My garage/shop had even worse lighting. I re-purposed several fluorescent fixtures. Then, I added two 120V/20A circuits (L1/N, L2/N) for outlets. Using a tendem/dual circuit breaker (and removing the duplex tabs on the outlets), I have 2z 120V/20A or 1x 240V/20A at the outlets. The biggest advantage: if (when) I pop the breaker for the outlets, THE LIGHTS STAY ON.

They look like Barilla and I just put 6 in my two car garage. Amazing difference. The only problem is the cord with the switch on it can’t be extended so if you ceiling is 8’ high you can’t get the switch close enough to be convenient. You can use 30 extension cords but the switch will still be 3 feet from light.

You will be soooooo happy with the LED fixtures. I have them in my shop and they make all the difference in the world. I do have a question. Why don't you have a big wood burning stove in the shop? I have electric heat in my shop but I am in town and don't have access to free wood. I enjoy your videos and have learned many tips from you and other videos I watch. Thank you.

    • @CountryViewAcres

I've installed a few 'cheap LED lights' in my garage. They've not been very reliable for me. They start blinking, go dim and eventually quit altogether. But they are the COB type of flood lights, not strips like these. The AC to DC convertors are the point of failure.
