The writing was outstanding. I really wish they would come out with the entire dvd series. I think if one of the stations started running it, sales might pick up.
They can't release it. They no longer have the music rights to the background music or music sang on the show. It would cost more to buy the rights than they could make in sales. Loss of music rights means show can never be aired in reruns again or sold in any manner.
It's powerful acting/ directing when a scene like this is done with virtually no dialogue. His getting out of the car for "one more look" was particularly powerful! Similar to the scenes when the Fishers visited Val and when Pat Williams died in the street.
@@Christian_Ada1 - The “Knots Landing” character Laura Avery Sumner (played by Constance McCashin) died from a brain tumor. The two-part episodes “Noises Everywhere” were Season #09 Episodes 10 and 11. Broadcast dates: December 3 and 10, 1987. John Pleshette returned as Laura’s ex-husband, Richard Avery, and much of the two-part episodes had the cast improvise. It ended with a moment of Laura, on tape, intimately letting husband Greg (William Devane) know of her love for him and that she was sorry she couldn’t survive.
Just realizing both Richard and Laura left Knots Landing the same way - alone and driving their cars to some unknown destination. Richard's departure was great and opened Laura's storyline; Laura's departure was tragically sad.
I agree that Richard's exit led to better things for Laura and caused her to interact with more characters that she might not have if Richard had stayed.
As Richard left Knots Landing, it was John Pleshette who left the show because he wanted to direct the show, when the producers wouldn't allow him to, so, instead, he went directing elsewhere. Anyways, he started directing in 1983, for 1 episode, and the rest, beginning in Season 10.
Richard wasn't really a bad guy. He tried. It just didn't work out. I always felt kinda sorry for him. But I'm glad that Laura eventually ended up with Greg who truly loved her.
No, I think he really was indeed a bad guy! He blamed everyone else for his troubles, treated his loved ones like garbage then asked for pity when he was down, sexually harassed the females in the cul-de-sac, took his pregnant wife hostage with a gun, pimped his wife out to that oil lobbyist figure in the second episode for information, manhandled Ciji, among other things! I'm sorry, but how was he a good guy?
It was such a strong series!
As much as I love Dynasty knots landing was the classiest realistic soap opera on TV just my opinion
Yes it was 🎉🎉❤❤
Knot's Landing was easily the best
Damn I miss this show

@@kareneverett7497 what a shame. That's too bad. 😕
@@kareneverett7497 not true....some seasons are already out....and the entire run was shown on SoapNet twice
Other shows cut the music on the DVD or change the pay music to public domain so it is not impossible.
There must be a way to stream it. All 14 seasons of Dallas are on IMDB now freevee

Also he left the screen, he was connected with the show for many years afterwards, writing and directing.
He came back tho when Laura died
@@freddiewolfe545 she died if cancer Right?
it's been so long since I watch that show but I remember loving the hell out of it
@@Christian_Ada1 No, she didn't die if cancer...

The music was sensational

Good catch, never thought about that!

Oh God no..
Beyond sad.
This sure was good tv

I wondered why he left
@@lynnecrisp He wanted to direct the show, when actors weren't allowed to, in those days.
Greg really loved Laura he was the best thing that ever happened to her
But Greg's character opened up just the same as Laura's did when Richard left they got too do more storylines than just tied down too their marriages.
Richard was a very likable underdog. I can see why a character like him would love and miss Laura and his own child.
Laura with her baby is so sweet! He is a cutie! I think this was Constance mccashin’s real son Daniel.
It was; later on though not her actual child, but the Meg baby was named after the child she had just given birth to
I love how the music went all dark just in the last few seconds.

Except for Sid the three original men Richard, Gary, and Kenny were trainwrecks.
Yeah exactly Richard could act stupid but he was nice .

Yes several years later after Laura died of brain cancer to get their sons Jason and Daniel
Was he able to get the kids back?
@@Christian_Ada1 yes
Richard leaving kinda hurt the show. He was a main original character.
Which one gets to be the man ?
LOL. I remember that episode. He was talking about Laura and Ciji.
Season 4 Episode 21. The Burden Of Proof. Great Show!
I was always thought Richards leaving, was such a cop out.
He should have been leaving for prison!
suerte richad
Why did he leave??
Laura had either an odd shaped face or her features were sharp. However, her character was kind.
The show was starting to die by this time as they got rid of the cul-de-sac aspect.
If that is true, why did it last 10 more seasons??
I tried to like Richard but ultimately couldn't. He annoyed me for some reason.
I think he annoyed everyone.
same here i didn't miss him or Diana after they left
@@greggbarnette5316 Diana was 3x worse same with Lilamae.
