When you go after god with all your heart there’s only two results from doing that. 1) you will go insane; you will need it to be true so bad that you will convince yourself that it’s true. 2) you will realize that god’s not there and walk away. You can do both but there is no third
The ONLY reason I have to question about a fictional character I don't care about so often is because of people going around near me, not only acting as if they're real, but forcing it onto me.

Not true, if we were born atheists then nobody would be a theist. Statistical data shows that people naturally develop a belief in a God or supernatural power/creator
I love how he assume that atheist should strive for Christian values before seeing evidence for his god. Not how that works buddy. Also, I'm much happier as an atheist than I was as a theist for almost entirely unrelated reasons. Does that prove god isn't really? I guess so, according to his logic.
Weird, the changes to evangelicals just in my lifetime, whoa. When I was a kid in an evangelical church, they preached from the pulpit that; not wearing your seat belt, your hard hat at work, walking across the road without looking both ways, asking God to reveal himself to you, these all fall under the whole "do not temp God" commandment umbrella, so it's a sin to do it. So, then why would I ever go back to Christianity, which wouldn't even agree with its own denomination 50 years ago? And the first Christians didn't even believe Jesus was God, that came later. Much later. Which means, the first Christians were not real Christians, according to modern Christians. Lunacy, that's what Christianity is.
I think I know the organization you're talking about. Same scenario on my street. They bought a dozen houses and at they meet at both ends of the street. My one friend had to attend the one place for probation. They ended up dragging it out because he kept telling me they were forcing the Christian narrative down his throat while he is an atheist. His probation officer ended up getting him out of there after they threatened my friend by saying they were going to have the state withhold his driver's license.
Basic math in sunday school made me a pariah, got booted to the adult services. Thats when i learned about the old testament, and how fucked up my community really was.
And then Christians say "God only reveals himself to certain people" but at the same time they also say that their God wants to have a relationship with all people. And then I say to myself, "Then he should come here if he wants something. Since when did the bone come to the dog?"
You're spot on with the addictions being substituted, just about every Jehovah's Witness I've been harangued by has had some 'fall and rise again' sob story where god saved them. All I hear is that they filled a mental gap
So what he has taught me, is the more you actively neglect rationality, the more naïve you become, the more desperate you become, you then open yourself to believe, well anything! Nice. TH-cam is a great tool for christianity. There are videos from Christians all around the world with comments connecting believers from everywhere.
Durring my deconversion, i asked god multiple times to reaveal himself. So it used to piss me off when a christain would tell me i never was a Christian or never really tried to call on god.
How does this Christian guy not realize people walk away from religion? I tried that religion thing. Didnt work so well for me. My life became so much better after I walked away
I asked God to show himself, and I witnessed the effects of gravity, and radiation, and thermodynamics, and experienced them through my brain chemistry. God is all in your head. It's basically the god of the gaps, and the gaps are called synapses.
So you don’t know how to use an ellipsis or punctuation. Where is this god ? Which god is it ? I’m going to assume it’s the christian god, just because of the video you’re commenting on. Just one of the Abrahamic gods, popular in multiple religions. Nothing original about it.
The Christian wins this one, the atheist isn’t making intelligent points just snarky remarks. Did he seriously compare addiction to drugs to being religious
If I were to vouch for an all-knowing, perfect god, I would not keep speaking stupid things in public to convince others. ...doing it kinda discredits the "perfect" part of this clown of a god.
😂 this is so ridiculous. All of us who grew up religious and left. We absolutely DID look up at the popcorn ceiling and ask god to reveal himself! But according to Christians we mustn’t have been ‘sincere’.
It's like they automatically equate belief in a god to worshipping said god. If god exists then we'd have the "free will" to not worship it, but believing in it would be less based in "free will".
The reason why God wants you to open up is because when you do, you will be easily persuaded by confirmation bias and will easily believe things without looking into the justification for those beliefs.
even in the bible there's lots of people who wandered in the desert for a couple of days without food and little water and hey they had visions... god usually gives important stuff on hilltops to mythological people during made up events like the Exodus... never during a gathering of thousands of people when it would make a real impact... the main writer of the new testament, the apostel Paul had serious mental issues, if he lived today he would claim to be Napoleon...
Keep questioning, I myself am essentially an apostate as I denounce my old beliefs. The most I believe in is that a higher power might exist but if I ever met it i wouldn't worship it
Even as a child I never yelled into the void for the imagined to manifest itself I’m sure not going to start doing that as a grownup. I appreciate having immediate access to information and am thankful for my parents, who moved away from a cycle of religious adherence. @@dwayneconaway1733 no, the question is that of Jesus' divinity. Muslims say he was a human prophet, but not God. Jews say he was human heretic, not a true prophet, and not God. Since Jesus did not reveal himself directly to anyone except supposedly those who wrote about him decades later, then the question will never be answered. It will remain as a matter of faith to Christians.

I used to have a porn addiction and it's not fun. Most of the negative effects came from my religious guilt. Is it a coincidence that after leaving christianity my addiction died out?
I'm not sure what you mean by "addiction." When Christians talk about "addiction to pronography" they often mean having seen a prono once in their life and that is enough to call it an addiction. There are also many addictions that are not a problem. For example, addiction is not a problem if your life continues to function. If you continue to go to work, continue to have a private life, etc. then addiction isn't actually that bad.
I love how these guys always exaggerate how happy believing and obeying makes them. It's bullshit, i have never seen a single person this ecstatic about being Christian. They just think it's gonna convince people that it's true, because believers are just so HAPPY.
"Fake it until you make it" - most of them fake their happiness inside their group to show how "blessed" they are to experience "Jesus". They do this to the point that they really get those endorphines and become "happy" for real. When they are alone again, they might have breakdowns incl. substance abuse - I've seen this with a couple of people... So, the point with "addiction" is a very valid one.

But if believing in Jesus makes you happy then I’m happy for you, just please don’t be like the others and don’t force your religion on people.
"God gave you the free will whether to believe in him or not!" Um... no? He didn't? Our beliefs are not in our conscious ability to control, we're either convinced by a proposition or we are not. There's no decision to be made there. And even if we 'could' "control our beliefs," we still have the threat of eternal conscious torture hanging over our heads if we step out of line (a line no one can agree the spiritual location or length of), which is the worst form of coersion.

In my humble opinion as an agnostic, According to astrophysisits We only know about 4 % of what ls out there . So it's polite to simply say, the data I've collected so far is that I see nature taking its cause, there doesn't seem to me that someone is in control out there, someone ask me, , who woke you up this morning ?, I will say if someone woke me up, let him make me sleep right now for I never asked him to. The religious person will be so scared, but I don't care, for from deep within I don't believe at all, is not like am trying to offend anyone. I would like to believe but my rational thinking can't let me, I can't compartmentalise , accept scientific facts yet embrace religion as many do. I can't, am not wired that way. Few years ago I was working as a driver for a foreigner who was a stouch Christian, would drive him to a church sit in the pew, sometimes translate as he preached, and as he prayed yet I was simply working. Sometimes he would be in a bad mood haul insults at me for no apparent reason. He was 💯 human, his spirituality as with many people I've met, was pure act that could be conveniently be switched on and off. I would wonder when a host pastor would seriously suggest that I should impart my gift of translating to his assistant who clearly wasn't good at it. In my silence and patience I would pass as a fine believer, Religion benefits when a level headed person joins it and his good nature is thought to be as a result of his beliefs. Some brutal, selfish narcissistic guys makes religion seem bad because they bring their pride and baggage along... Yes some people are good because they really believe and they don't want to offend their God by breaking his laws, I must acknowledge that.however it's unfortunate that humans like animals would be tamed by reward and punishment.... If you ask me if there is God I will answer I don't know, it's a more polite and accommodating response, when you tell a believer that there is no God you can't expect him not to be offended.. I would really like there to be God somewhere, and I would like him to be kind, one who is actions aren't miracles by day to day acts that should be so common that is away of life, no one begged to be created to suffer in this world anyway..... I doubt anyone will read to the end of you did thank you..
When I listen to people like Speaks, I always feel that the main reason they make these appearances is directed at themselves. They try to convince themselves that what they want to be true is true by repetition. There's not one iota of substance in what this guy says.
So basically once I have filtered out all of the things I love in my life I will become so bored and desperate I will need Jesus to save me! Sounds like a plan!

@@davidbudge8359 I wear a hat backwards indoors lol
The baseball cap rule would reasonably have an age limit. When you're under ten years old some things are cute. When you're old enough to have a couple of children on the way to adolescence, it's time to leave the cuteness to them before they also grow out of it.
@@Simon.the.Likeable George Carlan would agree with you.
When you go after god with all your heart there’s only two results from doing that. 1) you will go insane; you will need it to be true so bad that you will convince yourself that it’s true. 2) you will realize that god’s not there and walk away. You can do both but there is no third

I feel we are born atheist and theism creates anti theism.
indeed, the reason why there are no 'anti-teleportation' groups is because teleportation has as yet not been invented, if there was no religion and you'd claim you were against religion you'd have to explain what religion is... this is where the burden of proof comes in play.

He wants you to be as vulnerable as possible, the easiest it is then to be fooled.
even in the bible there's lots of people who wandered in the desert for a couple of days without food and little water and hey they had visions... god usually gives important stuff on hilltops to mythological people during made up events like the Exodus... never during a gathering of thousands of people when it would make a real impact... the main writer of the new testament, the apostel Paul had serious mental issues, if he lived today he would claim to be Napoleon...

So it's polite to simply say, the data I've collected so far is that I see nature taking its cause, there doesn't seem to me that someone is in control out there, someone ask me, , who woke you up this morning ?,
I will say if someone woke me up, let him make me sleep right now for I never asked him to. The religious person will be so scared, but I don't care, for from deep within I don't believe at all, is not like am trying to offend anyone.

In my silence and patience I would pass as a fine believer,
