I have just watched "The Outpost" and had to read more about the people who participated in the battle. The movie did a great job showing the suffering soldiers experienced during and after the serving in Afghanistan, and the almost unbelievable bravery.

You’re a grown man I know that one person doesn’t restore your faith and one person doesn’t destroy your faith. You have to know that there are good and bad people every where and it’s the balance of life but as long as you’re trying to do your best and be the best man, father, brother, husband, and human being that you can be, just know there are a lot of people who do the same but don’t seek validation or acknowledgement to do what is right..

From a fellow combat veteran and brother in arms I salute you brother and thank you. Your story and experience is an amazing one and I know books and movies don't even come close to what it's really like. I always wondered how much the movies get right....they can get close and show the chaos and intensity but unless you are there experiencing it you can never tell someone what it's like. The bond that is made with those going through it with you the fear the anger the rage the cacophony of the gunfire and explosions the ringing in the ears the symphony of chaos happening all around you. These things I experienced with my platoon when ambushed in Sadr City Iraq in October 2004. I'm sorry for you and your brothers and their families for losses you all suffered that on that day. It's an honor to know we have Americans like you in this world. Best wishes to you and I hope in time the wounds within may mend.

Cant help feeling so much sadness after watching any war movie based on true events.. seeing the soldiers fighting for our country. This is the reason I wear and raise my american flag.. not because I love my government. But because I love the country I live in, and the damn brave men and woman that fight for the country I live in!

Well said. I love my country too, regardless of the extensive ugliness of our history. I'm a small town boy from Ohio with a white dad and a black mother. I know from experience that division is stupid. Love is the answer. Our soldiers fight for each other in "the suck". It's on the rest of us to make sure they fought for progress in our human relations.

It is people like you who create room for “good” in the world.

The church and government are two different separate entities. What that means is that the church isn’t involved in decisions made by a country. For example when the Pope drew a line down a map and told countries who they could and couldn’t take over. The church can no longer do that. But prayer and faith are still allowed within government

What it clearly was meant was to not promote one religion over another. That is the definition of separation of church and state.
The nation was founded on religious principles, many of which were incorporated in the Declaration of Independance and the US Constitution.
Ad to the Chaplain, ceremonies are always opened and closed with a prayer. Regardless of their own religion, Chaplains say prayers at these events to God in general, with no particular belief mentioned. They are also trained to minister to the needs of everyone in the units they are assigned to, regardless of their own religion or that of those who need so e religious assistance.
