      When I was working as a Nurse is Romford, the worst patients I had were indians and less than 30 year old Brits who never worked a day in their lives and act like everything belongs to them and people should bow before them. They were on benefits paid for by workers, a huge portion , migrants like me. So this"my parents made sacrifices" bullsit dos not apply. As Thomas Jefferson once said, the tree of freedom needs to be sprinkle from time to time with the blood of tirants and patriots" so if YOU haven't sacrificed or fought for anything STFU.     Just to add they aren’t just Romanian. Many come from Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic
    A bit of information about them. They marry at 13. It is totally common for a woman under 30 to have 10 kids. Because the Tories gave them settlement this means any child born to a foreigner with settlement automatically qualifies for UK citizenship so at least one child will be British, this is an anchor to keep them here under Human Rights
    They live in Edmonton, Boston, Peterborough, Hull and Leeds. None work and all are on benefits. They are perfectly legally allowed to change their names up to 12 times in Romania for some reason which is why benefit fraud is do prevelant. They just apply under their different names.
    Whole communities are kept afloat on U.K. benefit money
    The government know this but do nothing about it

      That explains why every time I go to pick my wife up from work, at the local hospital, there's a big group of Gypsies, with one, usually a rather young girl, carrying a new born from maternity. About once a week on average.

      My wife and I often holiday in Italy and obviously we must stand out as non Italian, but on countless occasions kind people have warned us to be wary of a bunch of Roma. I have often reflected that if I did the same and warned foreign tourists about the Roma in Edinburgh I’d probably be arrested by our diversity loving police.

The practice of recruiting staff from overseas rather than funding adequate training places, coupled with massive and unsustainable rises in immigration which required unanticipated increases in NHS staff numbers led to more foreign NHS staff being recruited.

      ​@Clive697 I think the NHS used to be a great example of immigration working well for everybody. Back then qualifications were checked and there were checks for suitability. We have some wonderful people living here now because of this.
      Now the situation is totally the opposite, with millions of Indians with no or low skills granted visas for Care work. They are, in the main, 100% unsuitable and work a few months before signing on long term sick. Zero intention of ever working here.

      I was on a nursing degree until this year when due to lack of child care availability the university told me it was cheaper for them to recruit from abroad than to train me (and other British people) which obviously made me feel like absolute dirt.

    The Big Issue is a racket to claim benefits. Work on the selling of The Big Issue for 16 hrs a week puts you into the benefit system for the working tax credits, child credits and housing benefits etc all wrapped up in the benefits package.

    I’ve been saying exactly the same about the big issue for ages. They bring them in by minibus each morning, then at the end of the day they hand over whatever they have made from begging, big issue selling, pickpocketing, mugging, shoplifting etc to their gang boss. When I lived in Spain they would send children into the shops to start trashing the store, and while the shopkeepers were chasing the kids the parents were robbing the tills.

      In Kingston, I've seen the beggars with their handwritten signs arrive in the early morning by white van and there can be six at work most days. In the past even an unauthorised busker would get hassled by the police but these professional beggars are ignored despite their loud pleading for cash. I've also seen one or two using I-phones during their lunch breaks, so their tax-free income must make it worth their while.

Along with that comes rent, and most importantly child benefit, which they can claim even for kids back in Romania. One complained my accordion was giving her a headache recently, so I told her to take her headache and Eff off back to Romania. I even offered to buy her a ticket, she called me a Racist.

      @@AJ-qn6gd One of the saddest things I've ever seen was a sign in the window of the Martha Trust shop in my hometown. It read: Please do not steal our stock. This is a charity shop run for the benefit of profoundly disabled young people.
      There was never any need for such a sign until we were "enriched" by immigrants. Even the lowest Brits would not sink to stealing from a charity shop.

    Before the Romanian Gipsies came to England, England had its own English Gipsies, Charlie Chaplin himself was born in a Gipsy caravan in 1889:in England, way before Romania joined the EU in 2007. The Gipsies came from India in medieval times in several waves, escaping the followers of Muhammad in Northern India. They were from the lowest Dalit caste in Hinduism and were their original name was Doma डोम (which in time became Roma) meaning drummer since they were a caste of musicians and singers. Everyone talks about the burden on England and France but nobody cares to talk about the burden they put on Romania. As a Romanian myself, I had Gipsy beggars ask for money from me, even when I was at an ATM. Romanians are Europeans, the name Romania comes from the Roman conquerors of Dacia, it doesn't come from Roma/Doma डोम. But Western Europeans are ignorant of that and confuse and conflate the Roma Gipsies with Romanians.

    We get them bussed in to Haslemere in Surrey- one of the wealthiest areas outside of London. There’s on homeless bloke who chooses to live in the woods but he’s not the one selling the magazine. We’ve also got 4 money laundering Kurdish barbers so we are privileged

      In my small town we had four men's barber shops for decades. This clearly sufficed for the male population as when you wanted your hair cut you just walked in, sat down and waited your turn for a few minutes. Now we also have SEVEN 'Turkish' barber shops. I can't quite see how they have seen a massive opening in the market for haircuts.

    I recall 40 years ago a friend, who originated from Cyprus,telling me we must be mad.He told me many of his fellow countrymen, who have come to live here,have only done so to escape debts,prison records and crimes they are wanted for.
    We look at them through rose tinted glasses and think they are all here to roll their sleeves up and work.Truth be told,many are probably not known to the taxman !

      15 ish years ago, I was in Germany and went to a German wedding. We were drinking and talking to a few Polish people who were great fun, but hated the Germans. I asked them, why they were living in Germany if they hated them so much and the reply was to get as much money as they could from the country. People are not all the same I know, but, why let any foreigners in? We are all better off on our own and allowing a few from marriage or good qualifications to fill a gap.

      I suspect it's a particular type of Romanian - Roma AKA gypsies. Unfortunately there are a lot of them in Romania, your average Romanian is as different from them as your average Brit is from a gypsy. Gypsies were expelled from the Punjab over 1000 years ago and have never successfully integrated into any country in Europe, preferring to maintain their distinct 'culture'.

    Today, in a smallish city in Tayside, i passed a mixed group of Roma, not an unusual occurrence here. I thought for a second as to the recent claims about Scotland needing migrants to fill the many vacancies we have. Why were these people not at work? All young and clearly fit yet seemingly not troubled by the cost of cigarettes, council housing or new clothes.
    What a contrast with the ex-servicemen I'm acquainted with who sleep in the doorways

    Perhaps we should stress the difference between Romanians and Romanian Gypsies (which I see that you do). According to the internet there are about half a million Romanians living in the UK legally and I know a few of them including some vets and two brothers who have a small building business. They are all very capable and hard working. I would hate to see them all bundled together. It bothers me when I see headlines about "Romanians" rioting in Leeds.

    Unfortunately while we were members of the awful EU they had the right to move here and promptly lived off benefits, there were quite a few documentaries about them at the time. I remember reading whole villages in poorest Slovakia had moved here. One area I believe they still occupy is Page Hall in Sheffield, there must be many others.

    I once shared an office with a gentleman from Pakistan. The first thing that he did was rearrange the entire office so that his desk would face Mecca (he had the direction wrong).       Had a Friend who was an American Missionary's kid in Romania. They tried to work with the Gypsies there and eventually gave up in frustration . While all humanity have sinful failings, these people were described to me as being the MOST lazy, MOST entitled people ever encountered, who seemed to have no positive character traits at all. As long as the church had freebies to give out they were interested. But without a give away they were back to their old way of life . Witchcraft, theft, and fraud.

    Some years ago in Bolton, I attended a huge car boot sale on the old market.
    I watched, as Council security employees placed themselves strategically at various points (they were uniformed and had walking-talkies).
    I was completely baffled until a woman of stereotypical appearance, with half a dozen ‘children’ started screaming in bad English “where my child, my child lost, where my child?” - and I mean screaming. Immediately, one of the Council security shouted down his megaphone “watch out for pickpockets and stealing from stalls”.
    It was a ruse, by the ‘woman’ to divert attention while her ‘gang’ went round stealing.
    This must have been 25 years ago or more.

    Simon they are Roma gypsies or Romani. They are not All from Romania, the Romani gypsies in Sheffield for example come almost exclusively from Slovakia. The Romani and Sinti people moved from northern India and eventually settled in eastern and south Eastern Europe not just Romania!!

    I remember a roma woman who sat outside the local m&s selling the Big Issue. Plenty of old ladies gave her money, but I don't recall anyone getting a magazine. She lived on my street with her 3 kids and husband who drove a Mercedes. They disappeared years ago and the house was still being paid for by the housing executive. Husband turned up a year later and went into the house and then left again. Did this a few more times in the following year then left for good. He was driving a Merc with French plates, so they're France's problem now.

      Before the Romanian Gipsies came to England, England had its own English Gipsies, Charlie Chaplin himself was born in a Gipsy caravan in 1889:in England, way before Romania joined the EU in 2007. The Gipsies came from India in medieval times in several waves, escaping the followers of Muhammad in Northern India. They were from the lowest Dalit caste in Hinduism and were their original name was Doma डोम (which in time became Roma) meaning drummer since they were a caste of musicians and singers. Everyone talks about the burden on England and France but nobody cares to talk about the burden they put on Romania. As a Romanian myself, I had Gipsy beggars ask for money from me, even when I was at an ATM. Romanians are Europeans, the name Romania comes from the Roman conquerors of Dacia, it doesn't come from Roma/Doma डोम. But Western Europeans are ignorant of that and confuse and conflate the Roma Gipsies with Romanians.

Just like the Jews that didn't have a home and went from country to country, so did the Gipsies. The Jews were originally from Israel and the Gipsies were from India. There is literature about the Gipsies all around Europe, they didn't just stay in Romania. Romanians are originally from the northern Balkan/Carpathian region of Europe. The Gipsies didn't all of a sudden appear in the UK once Romania joined the EU. Hope it helped.

      @zantorc I agree and it should be set at at least 50k if single and 85k if married with children, less than that then you are a drain on uk taxpayers when you add in entitlement to healthcare and education etc.
      The family who kicked off the riots in Leeds had five sprogs who were removed because of an head injury to the youngest.
      Council leaders and the Home Secretary have made a statement on how they need to work better with the community to stop such things happening again as the riots as they add some much to the diverse community.
      Basically what will happen is no matter how bad a child’s injuries are they won’t be removed in future, I mean what does a fractured baby’s skull matter as long as it keeps diversity onside.
      Hasten to add none of those making statements live of would dream of living in harehills, which incidentally used to be a very nice place to live once upon time unlike the dump it is now.
      Pride plays a big part in how people live as even when they are poor they take pride in the little they have and look after it. No one has ever forced these communities into dumping their rubbish all over the place, they manage to turn lovely places into dumps all on their own and then complain about and I blame governments and councils for allowing it.
      One thing has come of this anyway, buses have been diverted around the area so the area has been cut off.

      When I moved to Germany over 20 years ago, I had to pay for private health insurance (as I hadn't worked long enough) and show proof in order to be allowed to stay. You had to work full time for 5 years before you were automatically allowed to stay. It was about 8 years for a minimum pension. We really need to bring back these sort of rules

      @@lb8965 Near where I live there's a council estate where most people are gypsy, mainly Irish traveller but a few Roma to, they all choose not to work and live on benefits whilst being perfectly fit and healthy. In the same area a group of gypsies started camping in an abandoned car dealership and the council had to put in cameras. Both groups act similar, that's why Irish travellers are regularly called gypsies even though they have no relation to Roma. Their cultures are all about moving from place to place in caravans and not really helping anyone else

    Large groups of Roma moved into Ukraine at the beginning of the war. They were given free train tickets into Europe and across the border they were given 3 year visas in Europe as displaced persons. How many were given "asylum in the UK I wonder??     It benefits solicitors, barristers, judges, courts, especially family courts. The women pose as single mothers, nobody has jobs and they live on benefits in large houses (which they sometimes sub-let to non-gipsy Romanians working on building sites). When a single child is taken into care, the legal gravy train is enormous: each family member has a firm of solicitors, a barrister, the child in question has a "guardian ad litem" on top of that and these cases go on and on, clocking legal aid, court time, various fees for various reports running into millions.

    I remember them in Paris when I lived there in the mid 90's. They were in every Metro station and had children with them who were trained to twist themselves into contorted positions to appear severely handicapped. They were on all the trains with a pre-programmed speech in French asking for money or one of those government restaurant tickets. About the time I left Paris, the police had begun a cleanup of the Metro and were clearing them out and keeping them off the trains because the begging was expanding into tourist pick pocketing. Paris in those days was relatively safe in most arrondisements, but the last time I was there in 2017, it had deteroriated tremendously. Two friends who lived there for over 20 years recently moved back to the states with horror stories of what the city has become. I always considered the Gypsies as a sort of quirky presence with links to begging and petty crime and a bit of an eyesore on the streets. The real threat to Britain and every other civilized nation are the Muslims and Africans who bring serious crime and an aggressive attitude that has politicians hiding under the covers.

    i hate it so much. Before the fall of the URSS, the gypsies were the gypsies but now they are called Roma or Romani (Rrom with double r in Romanian). This is by design so as the foreigners would mistake them for Romanians. Which is a total bummer, because all the gypsies are called Roma, not just the romanian gypsies, and i mean all of them (the ones from all across the Balkans, the one from all of Eastern and Central Europe etc). I don't know how they weaseled their way in obtaining this name but i know it is a slap in the face for Romanian people.

    The Isle of Man doesn't tolerate them either, we jailed 5 of them that tried last year. They were sent to prison and banned from the island for 5yrs under the vagrancy act 1896. They were then escorted to the sea terminal and deported back to the UK from where they came.

    Prince William was selling The Big Issue only last year. Not all of last year mind, just one or two magazines for tv publicity. Strangely, our local Romanian woman selling The Big Issue in a regular spot is no longer coming to sell. Perhaps she moved to Leeds.
