When will people realize that there are gamers who enjoy heavy story and don't always want an open world third person shooter?? No this isn't for everyone, so why act like it was supposed to be made for everyone.
Except Until Dawn and Telltale at least had quicktime events and let you move characters around. This is just a dialogue tree w/ seemingly little consequences.
That Guy Media that's also how Fallout 4 was announced, I'm holding out judgement till it comes out, but I like different types of expirences, as long as it's not full priced I'm in.
Oliver Queen I do and I absolutely loved that film. But most if the time it means trouble am hoping it doesn't I would love a great planet of the apes game.
Developer 1: ok what are we gonna do for this planet of the apes game? Any ideas? Developer 2: ok Listen to this ok, ok? Planet of the apes the movie... Developer 1: and then what? Developer 2: that... that's it...
I'm incredibly disappointed, this kind of games of making decisions are good, but waste an opportunity like this of making an awesome planet of the apes game is just horrible
Vicen-T its like the telltale game series, incredibly fun series by the way. Your choices affect the ending you get, theres like 6-10 different endings also. Story is excellent and unlike this game, you can at least move around to some extent and do quick time events/actions
For those who haven't played Until Dawn, it's an awesome game. As long as there are some running, puzzle, and collectible mechanics like in UD in this to go along with the talking simulator, it could be just as good.
There won't be. They have outright stated that it is only going to be making these decisions. What you see in this video is what you get for complete gameplay. You will never have control over any one character to make them move around, interact with objects, etc.
Tallen Smith I would call having to figure out clues and totem vision meaning to get the "right outcome" puzzlish. I could understand if someone didn't agree. I enjoyed that part of it though.
Big fan of the films so I'm interested. I'm not concerned with the choose your story gameplay they are going with. I read it's suppose to be 2-3 hours and you play as humans and apes so I highly doubt the game is $60. It's most likely going to fall in the $20-30 just for the cinematic feels and the visuals alone. Plus the game will have great replayability . But we will have to wait and see.
Ok, we need some more content in this game. Shooting sections, free roam, puzzles, management of the colony, maybe some RPG elements, something! We’re not here to watch a interactive movie, we’re here to play a game. G-A-M-E! Until Dawn got it right(Telltale got some decent stories but .....nope, not a game)So much potential wasted....
This is a 6 minute video, practically a cutscene where you change your decisions. It's more than likely there will be gameplay that requires stealth and combat.
Super Spicy Dankster OK, youre silly to make assumptions based on a 6 minute piece of footage, and you are wrong about Telltale games not being games. Your idea on what makes a game is completely wrong.
I was hoping it would kinda be like a survival game. Choosing either the Apes or humans and trying to form your base while in constant threat of being attacked like in the movies. :(
2-3 hours, a couple choices per minute, no real gameplay, different outcomes, literally just a movie where you make the choices. motion captured everything, made by movie developers, legit movie writers, photorealistic as can be. takes place in between Dawn and War, about 1 year after the events of Dawn
To everyone who hasn't caught on yet... This is actual gameplay, it's not a shooter it is a choice based cinematic adventure type of game like Telltale titles.
It's funny, after I saw war for the planet of the apes, I thought hey they should make a game, a month later I see the thumbnail. I was excited asf I watched it, very dissapointed. I was hoping they put action in it. And gameplay of course ign is dumb for putting "gameplay" in the title but...
God damnit man, was so excited, but it's just another tell tale type game. Was thinking it could be some sort of exploration-ish game that involves "creating" and expanding the race of apes. Woulda been so much better.
So this isn't really much of a game? This is like a story-telling thing? ughhh... please tell me there is more to this game. I was pretty hyped when I heard about a Planet of the apes game....
I am okay with games that play like TellTale however, I'm disappointed because I thought this game would be like a third person game or an open world game, not just choosing dialogue and picking up things! Had the opportunity to make a great Planet of the Apes game that was more like Last of Us however, hopefully it looking like Until Dawn, it's as good!
This is set between Dawn and War if I'm not mistaken. I'm putting it after War for the Planet of the Apes: Revelations as those events take place right after Dawn so I'm guessing the timeline looks like this: Rise of the Planet of the Apes Prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes Dawn of the Plant of the Apes: Firestorm Dawn of the Plant of the Apes: Contagion Dawn of the Plant of the Apes (BOOM! Studios) Before the Dawn Dawn of the Plant of the Apes War for the Planet of the Apes: Revelations Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier War for the Planet of the Apes (BOOM! Studios) War for the Planet of the Apes
As someone who is a big gamer and currently playing this game, I will Give my opinion to those that want to buy this game. You only have 2 choices, you can't move for yourself and the whole game is cinematic. I enjoy it (currently playing it), but I understand it's not for everyone. This is refreshing and something diffrent than most games. So if you want heavy action, This isn't the game for you.
I've wanted an ape game since dawn. But wtf is this? The ape acting and graphics are HORRIBLE compared to the films. At least try to make a good game. It had so much potential...
Hector Diaz "ape acting and graphics are HORRIBLE compared to the films" Did you honestly expect a Planet of The Apes game to have graphics and acting like the incredible motion caprture from the movies?
Hector Diaz it's not done yet. This game is made by Andy serkis cgi company he owns. The game is not a game, but literally a movie. You can't even move around, and it will be around 2 to 3 hours. This is a professional cgi company, and because they only have to render what on screen and no controller input, the final product will be photo realistic, just like the films.
Would've been dope if they put it like the Terminator Salvation arcade game. Remember having to shoot certain spots of a boss in that game to defeat them? They could've definitely done that. Like it would be cool if you could choose between humans or the apes, go around shooting humans/apes just as the story progresses. Just like those arcade shooters do. Like you wouldn't have to worry about movement because it's automatic. If this is confusing, look up "Terminator Salvation arcade".
Bro this is so disappointing I was expecting a first person shooter or third person shooter that would have been so great but instead we got this Telltale Game man come on
It's hardly interactive if you're just picking two dialogue options and not moving a character around at all. This is nothing like Until Dawn or Telltale games.
i like how people are bashing the choice mechanic, We have no clue if that's the entire game or a small part, its letting you choose your adventure thats a good thing i like to choose what i do, And the graphics are really good like tf
People hating this game like mass effect andromeda all over again :( This game looks cool! The graphics are a little off but the story telling looks awesome so far. It is going to be just a movie game, there's no controlling the characters, or puzzles, just decision-making. Don't judge it until you try it. There are already two characters I like so far, Bryn and Juno, and its not even out yet! I can't wait!
Considering that this is made with the exact same technology that was used for the films, it's amazing to see this translate so well into video game form. Even the humans look so realistic too, almost close to that of The Order: 1886's caliber. Well... except for Jess. She just looks a bit too creepy there. Especially when you look at her straight in the eyes. But besides that, man... I have to keep an eye on this.
This is great don't let the whole this game as a cutscene dissuade you from trying this out if your a fan of apes if this is anything like telltale's walking dead or until dawn this could be a welcome addition to the legacy of the new film trilogy possibly the trilogy of our time.
Okay so I guess I'm the only one who thinks this game has so much great potential the story seems like it'll be very immersive and the graphics looks outstanding
I think the idea of a choose your own planet of the apes style game is brilliant. Everytime I watch the reboots I keep thinking about the ethics and morals of the choices made between apes and humans. is there a way to really keep peace or does nature demand one or the other? Now I have a chance to answer these questions with what seems to be a promising project with talent and skill behind it.
All these people complaining about it already, we didn't even see what came after. This could be a mixture of cenimatic gameplay and something else. Most likely third person shooter. This is a game coming from a movie. Of course it's going to be cenimatic.
I would've thought that if a movie licensed game came out for planet of the Apes, it would've been something like an RTS. While I am all for these story-driven choice games like Until Dawn, Walking Dead, Beyond two souls, Life is Strange, etc. I don't think this was a very good execution. It looks a little half-assed, and the voice actors seem to be speaking in their sleep.
Damm the voice acting is so good for the ape main character
DChief89 that explains it .
But sheldon.... Father said! father said! Hoomans bad, sheldon
Ivandy Hawk hahahah we will protect you
FATHER SAID
They got Leslie Jones to do it
When will people realize that there are gamers who enjoy heavy story and don't always want an open world third person shooter?? No this isn't for everyone, so why act like it was supposed to be made for everyone.
wheres the gameplay...
This is the gameplay. Its a until dawn/ telltale type of game
Except Until Dawn and Telltale at least had quicktime events and let you move characters around. This is just a dialogue tree w/ seemingly little consequences.
DavonNathanael this is the gameplay moron.
DavonNathanael This is basically gonna be like until dawn
sonic luigi123 hell yea
Im super worried imagine the whole game is just going to be option 1 and option 2
Mckenna Bond It won't.
J_Wallbudams the 3rd Agreed.
Imagine if they made it like the James cameron avatar game it would be more than just a game omg
Mckenna Bond it's gonna be a fuckin telltale. I hat those
Yo man the game is so bad
And people said Fo4 had limited conversation options
ZaeXX9 😂😂
ZaeXX9 u
Yep compared to previous fallout games it did.
but its still much bigger in any other aspect.
*6 Minutes and 12 Seconds later*
Still waiting for the gameplay.....
A bag of chips This is the gameplay lol it's a cinematic game
It has hope but being announced a couple of months before release is very worrying
That Guy Media that's how a lot of movie tie-in games are
That Guy Media the game was meant to come out the same time as the war but was delayed it's been in production for a while
That Guy Media that's also how Fallout 4 was announced, I'm holding out judgement till it comes out, but I like different types of expirences, as long as it's not full priced I'm in.
That Guy Media Remember 10 Cloverfield lane
Oliver Queen I do and I absolutely loved that film. But most if the time it means trouble am hoping it doesn't I would love a great planet of the apes game.
Video should have been titled "Literally 0 Seconds of Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier Gameplay"
It's an interactive story, that's the "gameplay"
ClassicRampage what's the point of that I might as well watch the movie
Warren Francis Because people enjoy these types of games
Are blind lol
They were playing the game in this video.
Telltale mechanics with The Order graphics??
TheTribalFreshie more like Until Dawn mechanics with the Order graphics
Seeing as how I played that recently I think that might be more accurate
The Order had better graphics than this though
TheTribalFreshie so good
Kristoff3334 you know what he means stop correct him
Developer 1: ok what are we gonna do for this planet of the apes game?
Vicen-T I agree
I was so excited when I saw the reveal trailer but now that I saw this I just can think in how amazing this game could be but it will never be.
Vicen-T exactly the graphics look terrible
Also I don't like the story
Don't ruin the movie franchise with this please
Vicen-T its like the telltale game series, incredibly fun series by the way. Your choices affect the ending you get, theres like 6-10 different endings also. Story is excellent and unlike this game, you can at least move around to some extent and do quick time events/actions
Vicen-T tru. I was expecting open world action. But not GTA or just cause, or fallout action. Only when its needed. This had so much potential. Sad...
Having useless and awkward controls like a Telltale game or not having it at all it's the same. So it's still good.
Sarblade So no gameplay at all is good? No wonder people thought Until Dawn was good for $60.
UD has puzzles?
Tallen Smith I would call having to figure out clues and totem vision meaning to get the "right outcome" puzzlish. I could understand if someone didn't agree. I enjoyed that part of it though.
I thought we were suppose to see gameplay? Not a "pick and choose" cutscenes.
That IS gameplay.
if thats the gameplay, this isn't a game
nambo it’s a telltale game
Big fan of the films so I'm interested. I'm not concerned with the choose your story gameplay they are going with. I read it's suppose to be 2-3 hours and you play as humans and apes so I highly doubt the game is $60. It's most likely going to fall in the $20-30 just for the cinematic feels and the visuals alone. Plus the game will have great replayability . But we will have to wait and see.
Coming to a cinema near you.
WTF? This is the gameplay?! These are select-able cutscenes that even Netflix can do.
Literally, Netflix just did this with a Shrek cartoon. wtf
even about 12 years ago I made choices with tomb raider "game" on my dvd player
except with this you will need high end requirements
ha ha, reminds me of an old Flash cartoon I did where it was just selecting 2 scenes. Lazy gaming industry i tell you.
Never played a telltale game? Until dawn?
Emperor Valkorion at least you can Actually move in those games. In here you can't
It's like until dawn
but we don't know if we can control a character yet xD damn interactive media, it messes with my head.
Jman 72 but worse. At least until dawn had good gameplay
Until Dawn of the P... ah never mind.
Brendan Mc aha nice one
Until Dawn had gameplay at least mixed in
I was just sitting there waitin for the gameplay to start
Ok, we need some more content in this game. Shooting sections, free roam, puzzles, management of the colony, maybe some RPG elements, something! We’re not here to watch a interactive movie, we’re here to play a game. G-A-M-E! Until Dawn got it right(Telltale got some decent stories but .....nope, not a game)So much potential wasted....
Super Spicy Dankster ikr
Super Spicy Dankster I honestly don't think they'd be stupid enough to not add so,r action to it ATLEAST
This is a 6 minute video, practically a cutscene where you change your decisions. It's more than likely there will be gameplay that requires stealth and combat.
Super Spicy Dankster I
Super Spicy Dankster

Gamepl... Cut scenes ?
People in the comments section complaining about the graphics remember that this game isn't even finished yet! Give it time
Do you actually play? Or is this a wanna be Telltale game with less interaction.
It's funny, after I saw war for the planet of the apes, I thought hey they should make a game, a month later I see the thumbnail. I was excited asf I watched it, very dissapointed. I was hoping they put action in it. And gameplay of course ign is dumb for putting "gameplay" in the title but...
this is the gameplay. it's just so limited in interactivity that it hardly looks like a game.
This idea is the equivalent to a potato
Super excited for this. Love story-driven telltale like games! Thank you!
This is not a GAME-PLAYYYYYYYYY U GOT IT!!!
God damnit man, was so excited, but it's just another tell tale type game. Was thinking it could be some sort of exploration-ish game that involves "creating" and expanding the race of apes. Woulda been so much better.
"Nice" game, these graphics make me feel in 2003!
Achievement Unlocked: Stay awake through 6 minutes of dialogue.
Telltale, Telltale and Telltale Invented everything.
The animation is fairly nice but I would want more gaming content but that's just me
So this isn't really much of a game? This is like a story-telling thing? ughhh... please tell me there is more to this game. I was pretty hyped when I heard about a Planet of the apes game....
There's only two tribes, there's ape tribe and there's human tribe.
I can only imagine the voice acting for this game, a bunch of old men sniffing and making grunting noises lol.
This is set between Dawn and War if I'm not mistaken. I'm putting it after War for the Planet of the Apes: Revelations as those events take place right after Dawn so I'm guessing the timeline looks like this:
Rise of the Planet of the Apes Prequel
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Dawn of the Plant of the Apes: Firestorm
Dawn of the Plant of the Apes: Contagion
Dawn of the Plant of the Apes (BOOM! Studios)
Before the Dawn
Dawn of the Plant of the Apes
War for the Planet of the Apes: Revelations
Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier
War for the Planet of the Apes (BOOM! Studios)
War for the Planet of the Apes
If you rearrange the letters in apes you get peas, which would be more interesting to watch
These comments are hilarious . You have played games like until , heavy rain etc
this is a game I will be buying just for the sheer fact that it is more content from the planet of the apes world, gotta love it
"gameplay"
cinematics are now considered "gameplay"
As someone who is a big gamer and currently playing this game, I will Give my opinion to those that want to buy this game. You only have 2 choices, you can't move for yourself and the whole game is cinematic. I enjoy it (currently playing it), but I understand it's not for everyone. This is refreshing and something diffrent than most games. So if you want heavy action, This isn't the game for you.
do i have to play the movie first to watch the game?!
"Hey, the new Planet of the Apes movie just came out, lets jump on the hype train and release a game while the movie is still relevant!"
Is it a telltale game
Nice Little cow telltale/until dawn style, but different studio than those 2
Nice Little cow No, otherwise it would say Telltale
I like how your choices do not matter right from the beginning
Why did I waste 6 minutes of my life
6 mins of gameplay = 6 mins of dialogue
This game is going to be amazing:)
Crystal Gem I hope that's sarcasm coming out your mouth.
The whole game is about apes using sign language lmao
This is some Andromeda level facial animation
You have no clue.
so is this the gameplay in its entirety or will it open up and give us things to do instead of text boxes to choose
This is hardly gameplay, its just choosing dialogue
This is the whole game. Its a until dawn/ telltale type of game
Bossk You atleast move characters and pick up items in those games tho. Maybe solve puzzles. This is literally 2 dialogue options.
This should've been a 3rd person shooter or adventure game
I've wanted an ape game since dawn. But wtf is this? The ape acting and graphics are HORRIBLE compared to the films. At least try to make a good game. It had so much potential...
Hector Diaz "ape acting and graphics are HORRIBLE compared to the films" Did you honestly expect a Planet of The Apes game to have graphics and acting like the incredible motion caprture from the movies?

This is a professional cgi company, and because they only have to render what on screen and no controller input, the final product will be photo realistic, just like the films.
Jay Clark For real? Does this mean Andy will reprise his role as Caesar?
Hector Diaz it's not really a game, it's more like a watch and choose the choices.
Hector Diaz euhhh the graphics look awesome
Would've been dope if they put it like the Terminator Salvation arcade game. Remember having to shoot certain spots of a boss in that game to defeat them? They could've definitely done that. Cool.
This isn't even a game. This is a cinematic choose your own adventure story.
Bro this is so disappointing I was expecting a first person shooter or third person shooter that would have been so great but instead we got this Telltale Game man come on
Man I was hoping for a game not an interactive experience. I was really wanting to run around as an ape with a gun.
plz donot make us buy episodes ...
I read it's just a single 3-hour campaign.
even better...
Will that is short....
There is no game. This is a movie. Only we can make decisions.
For heavens sake, even the PC game was better than this, just what is this, exactly: not gameplay nor is it a game
warhammernerd52 it's like until dawn or the telltale games, an interactive story.
It's hardly interactive if you're just picking two dialogue options and not moving a character around at all. This is nothing like Until Dawn or Telltale games.
THANK YOU, see everyone, *THIS* guy.brush gets it
warhammernerd52 Andy Serkis said it's more of an interactive movie than a game, it won't be full $50 too so.
So, what, what's the difference between an interactive movie and a movie anyway, really: think about that for a moment
i like how people are bashing the choice mechanic, We have no clue if that's the entire game or a small part, its letting you choose your adventure thats a good thing i like to choose what i do, And the graphics are really good like tf
The most nonsense game video of my entire life. Give that 6 mins 12 secs to me..
???
WTF are you on?
Nothing like the illusion of you making the decisions lol.
Donald Trump's America In four Years!!! 😜
Jay Kay Hillarious.
Ethan Greer Good one(sarcasm)
More like now ...
Trump's not going to get eight years lol. He'll be very lucky to see four.
+HorkBork M
Wow, you do realize you are proving us right that you guys are not rational but just insult people.
They actually made a game. Wow. This actually does look like the movie.
This is sooooooo disappointing 👎🏻💔
????
How is it so disappointing?
Looks awesome to me.
the devs are calling it a cinematic adventure game, so basically an interactive movie
This looks awful
Looks awful because of 6 minutes wow
People hating this game like mass effect andromeda all over again :( This game looks cool! The graphics are a little off but the story telling looks awesome so far. It is going to be just a movie game, there's no controlling the characters, or puzzles, just decision-making. Don't judge it until you try it. There are already two characters I like so far, Bryn and Juno, and its not even out yet! I can't wait!
The movie would perfectly fit in a mount and blade kinda game
the face motion capture is really good
Considering that this is made with the exact same technology that was used for the films, it's amazing to see this translate so well into video game form. Even the humans look so realistic too, almost close to that of The Order: 1886's caliber. Well... except for Jess. She just looks a bit too creepy there. Especially when you look at her straight in the eyes. But besides that, man... I have to keep an eye on this.
I'm sure 99% of people watching his didn't even realize it existed.
Caesar and brutus why do i feel history is going to repeat itself
Can't wait to itsreal85 plays this ( SAVAGE SQUADDDD!!!! Where y'all at )
Can't wait for a speed run of this game.
Ohhhh so this is a story based game! This is a very safe way to do it, I have never seen any of the movies but this has me interested.
This is great don't let the whole this game as a cutscene dissuade you from trying this out if your a fan of apes if this is anything like telltale's walking dead or until dawn this could be a welcome addition to the legacy of the new film trilogy possibly the trilogy of our time.
They should make this game where you can actually play as an ape protagonist and it's open world
This is not a game, it's just a story with 2 endings, you choose whichever you want first
I cant believe they made a planet of the apes game. this is crazy and weird at the same time. i hope it does good.
Okay so I guess I'm the only one who thinks this game has so much great potential the story seems like it'll be very immersive and the graphics looks outstanding
I was genuinely hoping this would be an actual game and not playable cutscenes
I think the idea of a choose your own planet of the apes style game is brilliant. Everytime I watch the reboots I keep thinking about the ethics and morals of the choices made between apes and humans. is there a way to really keep peace or does nature demand one or the other? Imagine an 3rd Person ARPG game where you control an ape. Instead we get a shitty Interactive movie.
From the creators of Infamous: Second Son. The ones who wanted to make half a tell-tale game comes: Planet of the Inmonkeyz:Third and a half ape.
Another interactive movie where the only thing you can do is make choices and see what happens.
Good as movie. I think its underated in some countries, but if the game is good, they'll be successful and can make more titles.
Come on guys at leats give the game a chance u havent seen any gameplay from it yet just wait and see what it has to give to us
There are some things, that we are not graphically capable of doing yet.
Hopefully it isn't all interactive cutscenes and there's some actual gameplay like The Last of Us style.
I really wish this was more interactive, but it's an interesting use of cinematic storytelling
Damn, my hype for this game went from 10 to 0
