In case anyone else was curious about the music in the background during the bush trimming segment. It's Barbara's Rhubarb Bar (Barbaras Rhabarberbar), a German and Dutch tougue twister that gave rise to a popular novelty song. The tongue twister is based on repetition of the sound "bar", and celebrates a well-liked seasonal dessert. A German music video of the song, created in late 2023, became an internet phenomenon, getting over 47 million views on TikTok within a few months. That's according to Wikipedia.
Doing chores is a great idea. Growing up, my sisters always helped out. My parents thought it was important to contribute to the family, no matter how old you were.
Allowing your students to share in the labor is a terrific opportunity for all concerned. The students gain skills and experience and help in the development of the ministry. It gives the full time staff more balance and helps improve the upkeep of the buildings and grounds.
The first piano was not the one..The second piano sounded so much better..Thank you to the very kind viewers who purchased the pole hedge clippers for Rob..The chateau looks just beautiful while your working..Can't wait to see piano #2 next week and hear you play ! Leslie.. great to see you again after such a full and busy term and nonstop cooking. So glad you had full time help, what a great place to volunteer! Have a wonderful week!
My daughter & her husband just bought a mahogany baby grand from marketplace. Seller had jt tuned & delivered it! They are so excited to finally get it. My son in law plays the piano & the whole atmosphere of the household has changed due to the beautiful music playing.
As Always.. Enjoy living vicariously through your adventures at the Chateau!! So Thankful for All that you do with & for the kids!! I was fortunate to enjoy an opportunity to learn abroad as a teen, it changed my life for the better!! I Still enjoy going back to those memories!!.. You guys Are Changing Lives for the Better!! It Is Amazing!! You are Such an Inspiration!!.. The 🥾 Boots!!.. 😂 That’s hard after Flip Flops 🩴!!.. Hope your week is Fantastic!! Looking forward to seeing your next video!!.. 🥰 from America 🇺🇸
Of course you will love having a piano! My oldest and some of his friends play, have listened to a bunch of them singing a few times the last couple hours! Just so fun when everyone breaks out in song like some musical - as you know. ❤😊
I definitely vote for the students helping. Part of the learning process is appreciating just HOW MUCH goes into providing their chateau experience. They'll be more careful with the place too if they help. Oh, and Rob, you look great in that navy colored shirt!
I liked the tone of the second piano over the tone of the first one. Even though they both needed tuning, the second piano sounded brighter than the first. I think even though the second is pricier, you will be happier with the sound. I enjoy your videos so much and what you are doing with your mission with the students.
You sure are bringing the chateau back to life. From when you first purchased it to now. Great job to the both of you!! Lots of love from Tennessee!!❤❤❤
Just got my Mendelssohn tuned, it hadnt been tuned since my dgt left home. Makes such a difference. I believe every home should have a piano, or at least a musical instrument in the home. I like learning the theology on the verse. Roof looks amazing from a distance.
Just curious, have you considered setting up an Amazon ‘wish list’ that people that follow your channel could purchase items needed to help make your lives easier for your renovations and outdoor landscaping?
Second piano. High end and low end needs some help. Leslie, if it's affordable, why not do all the large bedding items and just do pillow cases at home? You have to love that torch, Rob.
You are so awesome! Great video. Loved it all. I have been looking at Workaway for my stay in France. Thought of you guys as I scrolled through all the chateaux who have numerous listings of help needed from garden maintenance, helping with events and major DIY. I'm going to see if any want a ghostwriter to help with fundraising. Never know, you might find the perfect match to help take the load off. A divine appointment of sorts. Sending prayers and blessings on you and all you put your hands to.
Hey Rob, great video as usual. Glad you guys are getting some alone time after all that work. The weeds truly are a never-ending battle and there is no good answer without round up. If you do get the kids to do that for an hour a week, just make sure you rotate them or one of the kids will think they have gone to Purgatory.😂
John Broadwood & son pianos are the most historic and oldest famous make of piano in England Established in 1728 It would be totally different when tuned
Great video 👍 Give the students a job for the chaute see about getting a few automatic mowers then get a tech student to hack a mower and add a vinegar sprayer and flame thrower 😊
3rd piano has the tone you are looking for, 2nd piano has the style and I cannot believe the prices for these grand pianos. They are are not Steinways or Bosendorfers, but they should do for the price tags they are asking. I loved the burl walnut but be careful with where you place them no direct sunlight and not near a radiator you will warp or crack the sound boards and pay a fortune in constant tuning. I have made my share of mistakes with my concert pianos over the years wish you both the best of luck in finding one.
Hello, ok.. for the piano I would have to say go for the first one piano if the cost of getting it tuned is not much, ❤️🇨🇦yet... Another wonderful episode. 🙏🇫🇷.... I wonder what the German music is all about bro.😂
Well....empty nesters for 5 minutes....enjoy!! I am so glad that you didn't take the first piano....it just didn't feel or look right for you. Personally, I liked the one for 1600.....loved the colour, look and sound. It appears to be in better condition than the 500. Great video....thank you and have a wonderful blessed week! 🇨🇦
German rap and hedge trimming was funny! Sounded like “abba dabba labba” 😂 as a professional pianist I wasn’t super impressed with any of the three choices. The third sounded the best to my ear. I’d keep looking. Good luck and God bless your ministry. I’ve watched from day one.
When I went to Europe and went shopping, I had everything shipped back to the United States. I bought a China in England service for 12 with all the extra serving pieces and it was very reasonable to have it shipped and I arrived with everything unbroken! So that’s something to consider instead of putting it in your suitcase.
An important thing to consider is the condition of the soundboard. We have a old (about 100 yrs) baby grand in our family that has the beginnings of a crack in the sound board and between that and needing some new felts and hammers, the estimate is about 10 thou CDN for repairs. 😢
The burled walnut piano was gorgeous, so I can see why he decided to keep it! The second piano had a tinny sound. The third piano for 1600 had a much richer, deeper, fuller sound, and that's the one I'd pick, as long as it is tunable. You've got to be soooo careful with old pianos. You might want to look into a Roland digital piano. One of the big advantages is that if someone wants to do a lot of repetitive practicing on a digital piano, they can just plug their headphones into it and no one else can hear it. Do you definitely want a grand piano? A half grand or baby grand could serve you well too.
Please get two support poles, the weight of the piano scares me for you, and I don’t want anything to ruin your lovely room.( it’s my favorite, you have such good taste in design )💐
Regarding the Broadwood piano, Beethoven had one he liked and Chopin reportedly also liked them although he preferred the French Pleyel brand. I play the piano and have run my fingers over the ivories on quite a few older pianos in my time. In my experience, the sounding boards of very old pianos often are deteriorated producing inferior tone. Of the two you were looking at, piano #2 by far had the best tone. The Broadwood was beautiful but I wasn't impressed with the tone. It sounded like an old piano past it's prime even though the case was beautiful. I'm really glad you're finally to a place where you can get one. I have thought you needed a piano there at the chateau for a long time. A chateau without a piano is a betrayal of Western Civilization!
Another interesting (in a good way) video! If it was my choice, I’d go with the second piano. Both are seem like they would work for the grand salon, for some reason the scoundrel option is better. I agree with the other comments, please wear appropriate footwear while doing yard work! Although, I’ve noticed other people doing projects on TH-cam in the bare feet! Looks like an injury waiting to happen.
I would have liked to see the keys on the second piano (1600). I preferred the color of the wood on the second one. The first piano seemed so dark, albeit it could have been the room lighting. My vote goes to the second piano.
I like the tone of the last piano. Have you thought of the black plastic method of killing weeds? I’m wondering if it would kill the roots? Of course it could only be done in sections.
Be careful when you buy a piano. You need to do that in person. You need to make sure the bridge is not broken. If so you can't fix the piano. It can't be tuned. You also need to let it stand for at least a month before its tuned. Also keep it away from direct sunlight or water.
I love your yellow choice, although the first one was a beauty. Congratulations on your long pole, electric hedge trimmer game changer for sure! Would you please leave info regarding this delightful music that you play for us? I know you referred to it as German..
Not a fan of #2. Sounds like the upright you'd hear played in a Western Saloon. Kinda "tinny". Tone of #3 was richer especially in the lower register. Will be even better tuned. Has beautiful wood inside the sound box too. Excited to see which one you chose.
First is an 1910-20’s Erard. Second a circa 1880’s. If you need any help finding a good one, I can help. Out of tune can mean it can’t be tuned and then there are big costs. (its basically like a car, so many things that can be wrong that you don’t see as an inexperienced person)
Sad about the Walnut Piano , So i am guessing the first one is older ,then the last one ? as u can hear when the finger hit the keys but at 500 e i loved that one as it has more character the colour was lovely , love the keys too . BUT the last one sounded really good too but noticed 2 keys not really making much sound which ever one u pick it work .
A shame about the first piano; it was beautiful. The first of the 2 pianos you had been sent videos of, ( the darker one) had a lovely depth of sound, as well as a mellow tone. The best depth of tone of all 3 piano's. And how could you go wrong for £500 euros? ....I'd snap it up!!! It seemed a much better quality all together inclusive of the wood. ( which I think contributed greatly to the mellow depth of the sound) The second one was tinny sounding to me, and the veneer seemed a little cheap looking.
The second piano sounds much better but the first one looks good & it’s 500euros that’s a big savings. I don’t know if you can get it to sound better but if you can that would be a bargain.
Please be careful with Mr. Bingley out in the sun and the heat! Years ago, I had a dog and he was a shorthaired dog a Chihuahua and I let him stay outside in August on the East Coast while I was washing my car! Well, needless to say he got heatstroke and almost died so please be careful with Mr. Bingley
I bet that 500€ piano has a beautiful deep rich sound…except it needs way more than a tuning, and that will turn into one of those it’s a “French things”.
As a piano tuner the Broadwood is better than second piano It is just badly out of tune I noticed the Broadwood had a full iron frame and over strung the second piano is straight strung and a compaset frame It is worth doing research before you buy so many pianos are fine too look at but not good as musical instruments
None of those piano's are good, really waste of money. Be aware Rob and Lesley, that a good playable piano in Europe (on the long run) costs + 7K€ for an upright piano and + 15K€ for a grand piano (best here are the Yamaha instruments).... If this budget doesn't fit, it might be a good idea to apply a digital instrument (Yamaha Clavinova or Korg or Roland)
Thanks for the great video 🇨🇦

The wedding vase is a unique, thoughtful gift.
Thank goodness you’re finally wearing the right boots to protect your feet!!!

Number 2 piano for sure, sounds sparkly and the wood color goes well in your salon.
The first piano sounded very old and grim! The second sounded wonderful.
That is the most beautiful piano I’ve ever seen in my entire life!❤
My daughter & her husband just bought a mahogany baby grand from marketplace. Seller had jt tuned & delivered it! They are so excited to finally get it.
My son in law plays the piano & the whole atmosphere of the household has changed due to the beautiful music playing.
The grounds are looking great!!! Thank you for the theological lesson!!! I always love it when you include those in the video.❤❤❤❤

One of the other vlogs bought a used clothes press for the linens. It would be worth it with as much ironing as you have.
Queens Escape bought the clothes press
That is a beautiful walnut burl

The 3 rd piano sounded the best!😊❤
I like the second piano. Thanks for explaining where that phrase came from because I thought the same thing when you said it last week.
You sure are bringing the chateau back to life. From when you first purchased it to now. Great job to the both of you!! Lots of love from Tennessee!!❤❤❤
Enjoyed from Texas! Especially the work boots 🥾 you scared me in your flip flops and the flamethrower 😮
Enjoy every bit of your content. I hope a wonderful piano finds its way to your chateau.
If you are not laughing at the time lapse music, do you have a sense of humor?😂😂😂
Just got my Mendelssohn tuned, it hadnt been tuned since my dgt left home. Makes such a difference. I believe every home should have a piano, or at least a musical instrument in the home.

Beautiful piano. The burled wood is gorgeous.

If you do get the kids to do that for an hour a week, just make sure you rotate them or one of the kids will think they have gone to Purgatory.😂
I think definitely the third piano is the winner. Best sound, and they cared for it enough to keep it in better tune.
Add a few drops of Dawn dish soap to your vinegar…it breaks down the coating on the outside of the weeds
I like the second one.
Thank You For Fighting the weeds in this manner. Thanks for the video!
Need to add salt to vinegar works a lot better
The second piano is pretty but so out of two! I do love the first clip
Nice seeing you just do this and that as you have a little time to "breath" between the sessions.
Love the sound of the second piano! ❤
HOpe you guys got piano. You play well. The chateau looks beautiful. Blessings.
6:59 That face 🥰 Bingley looking like he is ready to drive you home.
I like the third one. I have no musical ability but feel the colour of that piano would suit the room best.
John Broadwood & son pianos are the most historic and oldest famous make of piano in England

Most enjoyable video as there was such a variety of content. Enjoy the week.
Great video 👍 Give the students a job for the chaute see about getting a few automatic mowers then get a tech student to hack a mower and add a vinegar sprayer and flame thrower 😊
Can't wait to see which piano you chose. I am not a big fan of burl wood. Glad you have some time off to catch up.
Enjoy the peace and time to make repairs and do chores. Do those big bushes need spraying. I am sure you will fine a piano.

Love Mr Bingley
Wow bonus content
I think I like the 500 piano

Great video guys and the grounds are looking great ❤
I like the second. On the first u can hear the keys click and it is distracting. The second one was clear and had a good tone ❤
Excellent!!
Please, please do not wear flip flops when using the pole trimmer.
Yes please use safety boots, best wishes
2nd piano, definitely
The grif shower has also lost the grout between the bottom row of tiles and the shower base.
Have s Blessed Week.

Wonderful video. I liked the 2nd piano best. Of course it was the more expensive one. Not a fan of the German music though!
I like it😊, especially the first song with the first piano.. which I would love to know who
I would have liked to see the keys on the second piano (1600). I preferred the color of the wood on the second one. The first piano seemed so dark, albeit it could have been the room lighting. My vote goes to the second piano.
❤❤❤
The $1600 euro one has a mellower tone and is more attractive.
Second piano!

I liked the first of the 2, it looked more French.
First one sounded more like a harpsichord compared to the second one
Funny that he played an Abba song!

Update the video at the beginning to show the chateau in the beautiful square! Please!
Do you have a laundry mangle?

I just gifted my upright to retired missionaries. Cost $400 to move it.
🎹. The $1600 (euros) sounded best, would have liked to see how the keys looked. 🎼🎹

pianos sounded miserable really, don't waste your money on this
