Glad to see you being upfront about it not offering much of a performance boost over the HX77G/HX80G/HX99G etc (basically all the same PC right). We all know ETA Prime would be like "woooah fastest PC evarrrr!!!!!", I don't regret subscribing to your channel !

Minisforums is one of the few manufacturer doing mini PC with dedicated graphics with decent warranty and trustworthy software and not bad pricing. Too bad not many Nvdia GPU due to Nvidia's decisions not to go the custom routes. But otherwise, solid mini PC if you don't want to have a suitcase on your table.
Would be nice to see at least an rtx 4060 version.
@@Techtablets same. They usually arrive a year or two later after the mobile announcements. But even then it'll be outdated.
Maybe we will see another gaming laptop motherboard as a Mini PC set up like they did before with RTX 4060 and RTX 4070.

As usual, great video! Can you use Starfield as a benchmark? It's quite challenging to run even at 1080p.

I like these reviews. Overhead camera should lock to small iris so there is no focus wandering and/or blurring + lock focus. Usually i complaing audio, no problems here. Great work!

Great video Chris. Really appreciate your great work. You indicated it's a very minor upgrade in performance over the hx99g. Right now, only hx99g is available. Is it worth waiting for the hx100g to be back in stock? I just want to future proof as much as possible.
Well we are talking like 4% faster so not really worth the wait and the HX99G should be cheaper.

I don't cover enough if them now for that and well my mini pc reviews get poor views nowadays wouldn't be worth it.
I was thinking of buying hx80g instead but I do not know if it as quiet as 99G and 100G while gaming.

Hi yes with the latest drivers I can turn that on if I want.
How do you access the APU and/or GPU fan to clean it after few months? Are there at least instructions included?
Most if not all mini PCs come with zero instructions and zero help to actually open the other side of the PC to clean the fan, or even heaven forbid, replace the thermal paste.
Definitely one of the most interesting Mini PCs out there. Though with no way? to open both sides and impossible to boot from USB, this is a fail.
I admit I would like something similar, but with a RTX 4060 and of course not the limitations already mentioned.

A little tricky you have to remove the motherboard from within the case and then flip it over. But that would be like once a year, every few months if you live in a dust saw shop or something lol.
I have the HX77G with the Radeon 6600 mobile GPU. Same form factor and case. Appears to be discontinued. Similar benchmarks. Loving it so far.
It's a good unit, yes this is now the 3 one or 2nd refresh to yours. Not a huge step up in performance very minimal
I buy hx80g a year ago (5800x + 6600m). It is still very solid 1080p native or 1440p with some fsr gaming pc. HOWEVER, there is one big problem that no one talk about. On audio jack side, due to the stupid griddle design, it is very difficult to plug in cable.
Oh yeah forgot to mention that it's terrible to plug it! Not enough to grip onto.

But I need high FPS at 1080P
You can get high FPS at 1080o with low to med settings.
You get way more frames at 720p, don't really see that huge difference after optimizing it in Adrenaline.
Human eye rarely can see over 100 FPS, over 100 FPS is just power consumption money thrown out with no really gains but, just a number on the screen.
HX doesn't have big power draw but a normal PC tends to have specially over 100 FPS.
My PC draws about 480 Watt in Anno 1800 max settings at 1440P with 80 FPS not even 100. I really don't need 80 FPS in that game let alone 100.
I bought my HG99X for 845$ with 64 GB Ram and 1TB SSD, i am so glad i got it at a steal price, unfortunately Minisforum has closed it s official stores on Alibaba, so i won t be able to get amazing deal like that again, and the cherry on the top was that it got deliver 4 days after my order.

question: do these Chinese mini pc´s get any software support? Drivers or Bios in the upcoming years? for 1000euros I am expecting at least proper driver support not just some general device drivers through Microsoft update 🤷♂
They only tend to have bios updates and then driver packages now and then.
Well, if you are expecting Asus levels of driver support, then you will be disappointed. On the other side, they seem to design these systems to run with oem drivers. Bios are updated usually when there is something to add, si ce the cpu/gpu are integrated, you won't be swapping things out and need forward compatibility for future products
Yes just bug fix bios updates is all we get and then driver packages which then aren't updated but as you say OEM drivers work.
I like this for it's excellent cooling design. But they kinda ruined it by going with HDMI 2.0 instead of 2.1 with proper 4K120 support. Are you sure they don't do 4K120? I know the HX99G on paper only did 4K60, but that was only officially, because the included cable was only rated for 4K60, but the HDMI port actually did 4K120 just fine according to several users.
Sorry it's 4k120 working at 10bit fine with my LG C1 OLED 4k TV.
@@Techtablets Nice! With HDMI? I'm really tempted to order one now. Having good cooling is so important for mini pcs, not just to prevent thermal throttling but to prevent not wanting to use it for gaming because the noise annoys you. Thanks for the answer Chris!
Yes via HDMI I forgot to mention it at the end of the video as it's mention to be HDMI 2.0 but really it's HDMI 2.1, 100% working and stable no issues for 5 days now.
@@Techtablets Fantastic. Even mid range TV's often come with 120hz panels nowadays, I see it as a must have feature if you're buying a mini pc and TV for gaming these days. Thanks for the confirmation and the excellent review.
Is there any known fixes for the random USB disconnects? My problem is that I have my Steam collection on an external drive and I'd hate to have this problem while in the middle of a gaming session (or even fry the hard drive) .
Unfortunately not it's something I've been trying to fix and it seems like an AMD issue. However I updated the chipset drivers from AMDs website with the latest and it seems better now.

I just wish there's a mini PC with the 7800X3D and Oculink. Why is it always mobile chips for these mini PC makers?
Because they are cheaper for them and less wattage. I would also love to see that.
Yes shame in them, they are like Apple, they release option one by one to sell more models, even if they could release a model with all the options at once, Minisforum could already have released the RX6650M on their previous models.
That rig will be an awesome loungeroom pc

More than enough yes. Using it now with a 65" 4k120hz OLED and it's very good. Just which it had a little more power like RTX 4070 levels. Anyway as it stand really happy with it.
They should make the case a little thicker to accommodate a 140mm fan, would drop temps so much and the pc would barely be much bigger, no need for those high temps
I would love to see one bigger fan moving a lot of air and slower RPMs but still it's normally very quite.
I don't get what you are saying. Two HDMI2.0 but the Type C can do 4k60. But HDMI2.0 can do 4k60 already. Are those only HDMI 1.4 or can the Type C do 4K120?
Type-c can do 8k60, sorry the hdmi is 2.1 I'm getting 4k120z it's just their specs pointed towards hdmi 2.0

only one of the fans in my hx100g spins. I checked the bios to make sure both fans were enabled and they are. Could you help me out? not sure why the other fan doesn't spin
Normal if the GPU is not underload. Play some games or stress the GPU and both fans will come on.
@@TechtabletsI stress tested it with Furmark and the bottom fan still didn't turn on. Could you tell me if your unit has both fans spinning when you power it on or just the one? I'm at a loss.

no display port on a PC is a no go , especially now that HDMI forum blocked AMD tries for open source drivers for 2.1

I own the Minisforum Venus UM790 Pro with R9 7x series processor and I am very satisfied with its performance and quality. It can convert videos (2K) in minutes and it’s actually the best Windows PC I have ever used. I saw that the latest Xiaomi tablet (6s PRO) costs about $967 on Giztop, including the smart touch keyboard and the stylus, but I think the Minisforum V3 tablet with R7 8x series is a better deal for $900. The AMD tablets are fast and reliable, unlike the Xiaomi products that I have tried and found disappointing. So, why not choose a Windows tablet powered by a low-voltage AMD chip?
I hope to be able to review that tablet if they do send me one I will cover it. It looks good.

I think that my Minisforum 7940hs is capable of 1440P gaming, although I need to test that out. I got 1440P gaming from a 2017 iMac.
But over 60 fps 1440p?

Minisforum offers decent devices, but my main criticisms remain:
- They use a power brick with an, at least for the EU, unusual connector and they don't offer them separately
- The GPU is usually dated
- Limited support / slower service since they are China based
Agreed with the last two. But the first one often it's the standard barrel connector and normally a laptop PSU but this connector is liker the older gaming laptops from MSI.
The more pmowerful its hx99g or well hx100g
For the price of these mini pcs it can get awfully close to a laptop with a 4060 and a ryzen processor with that same igpu.
true. this is the long time problem with NUCs, pricing vs laptops.
Should try a ethernet dongle to the USB 3.2s to see what you get. A dongle is cheap. Most people in their homes unless they have a home network that needs 2.5 and beyond Gigabit speeds isn't going to get any benefit. to the outside world, you are only as fast as your connection. Yeah, it's cheap and they should have... But, most people won't take advantage of it. By the time your local internet service gets that kind of speed, this PC will be in a landfill.
Tested it and I get full 1G speeds but 2.5 would have been better
It would be better if the GPU could be 16GB. At least AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT with 12GB

For $900-$1000 that this minibus cost I feel like you could build a pc for that price that’s a lot better
You could, RTX 4050 or 4060 GPU or cheaper AMD GPU and mid range GPU.
Asrock Desmeet B660 or the new upcoming X600. Bigger and probably hotter and noisier? 4 dimm slots and other goodies though.

Yes as mentioned it's one of the cons over 1000 euros or about 900 USD.
U can build an sfx pc with the same size as this one with better performance cuz its desktop parts not mobile .
For example velka 3 case .
