Hey there! We’re Cary and Cris. Earlier this year we decided to quit our jobs and leave our beautiful island of Kauai to pursue a life of full-time travel. Being ex-chefs, our worlds pretty much revolve around food and beverage. So, we thought it would be fun to take you with us as we eat, drink, and explore the world.

So I’m a chef and I basically did the same thing when my Indian in laws came to the states for our wedding. My mother in law is the scariest head chef I’ve ever worked under, but I now have this recipe set that’s unique to their specific regional, socio economic and religious demographic. I guarantee you I’m the only white dude in america who can authentically cook any three of these dishes lol

When people say Indian cuisine, they need to understand that there are 28 states, each state having their own food culture... even within every state, there is diversity in food depending on area in that state (e.g. food in coastal Maharashtra is different from vidarbha in Maharashtra)... I am glad that you are giving a glimpse to other netizens of the food which is different from customized and typical food served in restaurants served within and outside India!!!

to understand Indian food, one has to understand Indian geography, the more u move towards Equator the warmer it gets, that means the food will get spoiled quicker, to preserve it use spices and oils, and the Recipe changes with Season and Geography.

Now That's a typical Indian homemade meal ❤😊 Not those heavy butter chicken and naan 😂
Infact Even this whole thali was specially made for you guys i think.
Otherwise even a single vegetable dish with chapati or rice is enough.
Every Indian woman has her own recipe for every food they cook.
And it will change with every home, city and state in India.
Offering first bite of food to God or an animal like cows or dogs or birds is tradition in most Indian Hindu households ❤
P.S: That rice dish was actually more like PULAO 😅
Biryani is lot more complicated and time taking.
