    This is the Thomas Beale vision of EHR, it's what we should do but unfortunately will not happen because “mega suits” will never accept to loose their monopoly on data, however what we should push for is to have CDRs in every hospital IS based on a real standard, probably not fhir but openehr who has a “system” vision of health data standardization instead of fhir who has a “message” vision of it

    Absolutely mindblown by this topic health data platform. May be in india for most private hospitals they dont care about the clinical data present with their current vendor. This might get more awareness if implemented first in medical colleges .

    Always great introduction and content. cheers. May i ask one question, whether there is any potential solution that AI like LLMs could prompt this progress like to flat FHIR data? thanks

    Very informative video. Are there open source Health Data Platforms out there for us to leverage?

    • @medblocks
      @medblocks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! There are definitely some on the top of my head. I will try to compare and contrast the different digital health platforms (including open-source) in one of my next videos! 😉

    Hi Sidharth, what are the examples of health data Platforms. Any further references on the same. ?

      openEHR is a good example of a HDP

    I am just wondering how the Health Data Platforms would be different from the existing EHR platforms like for example, EPIC EHR.

    • @medblocks
      @medblocks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having an agreed-upon API interface would be the key difference. FHIR APIs on top of Epic EHR are trying to do this, but the bandwidth of information that can be exposed via these government-mandated APIs is very limited. Instead, having a truly open high-bandwidth API (like what SQL is for databases) will change the game. openEHR is one such API.

    How do we encourage the adoption of this health data platform? An open source option that can be freely used?

    • @medblocks
      @medblocks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Reliable open-source is definitely the single most powerful motivator. However, having multiple commercial vendors offering the same set of APIs in a commoditized manner is also very important.
      If you consider openMRS / Bahmini - it's got a solid open-source core, but there aren't multiple vendors selling the APIs as a commodity.
      FHIR REST is at the top in terms of adoption from vendors + open-source. I believe openEHR REST will hit the same spot in a few years. EHRbase is already a very widely adopted open-source foundation, and we only see the number of vendors increasing.

    Is a health data platform different from a "Health Information Exchange" ?

    • @medblocks
      @medblocks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      YES! An exchange provides use case specific movement of documents - IHE XDS is a good example. What they fail to do is consolidate data into a single warehouse that serves as the source of truth. Having an exchange disseminates information, without really separating applications from the data.
