Those abstracts were sweet, the bathing house shot was great considering the cloudless sky, but the black rocks were stunning. Great video Stuart. I'm looking forward to part 2. Cheers man.
Watching this vlog has reignited my love for this area. The last time I was there, I was blessed with a mix of great conditions to not so great. However, I think it's more a case of knowing where to go shoot to match the prevailing conditions you have. I was fortunate to be on a workshop at the time and our tutors knew where best to go with those prevailing conditions which makes a real difference. I remember when we were faced with blue skies and very still conditions, we headed to Alnwick to shoot the reflections of the castle in the River Aln. Of course, it's considered a cliché shot now, but it only works when it's still. It also highlights that there's far more to Northumberland than just it's stunning coastline. Plenty of photogenic locations inland too, but I guess you maybe saving those for a future visit. Really liked all your images once again. The one's from Spittal Beach were top class. Fabulous compositions for the two images taken at the Black Hole and the final one of the Bathing House at Howick was great considering how much you moaned about the tide not receding enough and the clouds evaporating. Looking forward to Part 2.
Thanks Ian I was sating in Alnwick and the castle I'm sure is a nice shot when there some foliage etc - problem I had was no greenery and it had scaffolding on half of it lol Yeah it's a lovely stretch of coastline, was just a shame conditions was poor though Spittal beach for abstract work doesn't really require light hence going there. The second part is all from Spittal
Never shot in Northumberland Stuart but it's on my list! I liked that last shot of the bathing house and the close ups earlier. I have to say that I'm rather finicky with the minimalist stuff but really did like those you showed. 👍
Nice one Stu. Just up the road from me but haven’t been up there since All This started. The Black Hole is definitely dicey at high tide - not somewhere to be faffing around making b-roll. :) If it’s any consolation the blue skies have continued this week.
Cheers Simon yeah it’s been exceptionally dry/clear, very weird weather. Yes the black hole was definitely dicey at times! Not so bad shooting stills but didn’t want to be juggling other bits as that’s the time you end up knocking something in the drink!
Great job Stuart, we have a holiday in that area soon so this was very helpful for us, thanks. Re the "Abstract" type images, I think they can really work and there are some very interesting shapes and colours to be found and they're not so weather dependant. Take care on those slippery rocks! Cheers.
Cheers oh I know they work it’s a fascinating area of photography it’s just not perhaps an area with mass appeal. Yeah the rocks where I nightmare for filming on to be honest 😂
Couple of great shots, again you do put a lot of effort in to get the composition. I do like the coast( a nice contrast to the Lakes) and have been in Anglesey this week, but with blue skies and calm seas while fantastic for a walk not for photography. But there's always next time.
Cheers yeah tough conditions for sure for vista type photography though the abstract stuff you can always do in any conditions which is great. Next time I’m over there I’m definitely going to go when the weathers rough!
Sorry Stu but if you don't get wet feet you're not trying hard enough LOL Loving the small stuff and the foreground with the bathing hut makes it. Hope you got better conditions for pt2
I really liked the abstract images, the colours and patterns in those rocks were stunning, and the last image of Howick Bathing House was nice , you even pulled some colour out that sky. Very nice mate.
Great selection of images Stuart and particularly loved the abstract images. Its good to see people being able to move about with restrictions easing. Thankfully in Scotland we can now go beyond our local authority area and come this Monday, cross border travel will be a possibility once again
Thanks mate yeah it’s lovely to see things getting back to something like normal - I’d actually planned to do St Abbs while over there though obvs the cross border thing prevented it, I’ll have to do a day trip there
Great video Stuart, the Northumbrian coast really does offer up some fantastic locations for both wide and intimate shots. Of course it helps when the weather plays ball. Still always a good excuse to go back. 😁
Oh those black rock formations images are stunning!!! The abstracts are very interesting and beautiful. To me part of photography is about seeing the world around you with a different perspective, and those macro abstracts certainly do just that.
Thanks Kathleen yes I find them fascinating as well and with almost limitless potential, certainly a great alternative when the weather isn’t quite doing what you want it to
I LOVE the rock abstracts!!
Thanks Sharon 👍
Loving the abstract style, bring it on, Stuart.
Thanks Iain glad you enjoyed it next one is abstract only
I love the abstracts!! Gorgeous!
thanks Shannon :-)
Those abstracts were sweet, the bathing house shot was great considering the cloudless sky, but the black rocks were stunning. Great video Stuart. I'm looking forward to part 2. Cheers man.
Cheers Ian much appreciated
Love the abstract stuff.
Cheers Jerry me too 👍

Loved the abstracts Stuart .. really great use of that nasty blue sky period !
Cheers Duncan yeah was pretty brutal to be honest!
@@StuartMcGlennon been there and got that tshirt too many times unfortunately lol.
Perfect timing for Saturday morning relaxing viewing Stuart 👍 - stunning shots, especially like the one with the single little rock at about 7.10 👍👍👍
Cheers mate thanks for watching

Nice one mate, a harsh week photography wise but hope you enjoyed yourself 😀👍
Aye it was a bit brutal I probably should have been out shooting the stars lol but yeah nice to have a change of scenery and freedom!
Nice one Stuart
Loved the abstract images Stuart, really nice to see more like this. Great location from the look of it. Hope the mic comes back to life soon !
Cheers Daniel it’s showing signs of life though I think the battery might be cooked lol £100 is crazy for a replacement
@@StuartMcGlennon ouch ! Yea let’s hope it fixes itself

Trust me there was nowhere there that was safe to be stood getting wet lol part 2 is abstracts only I couldn’t face anymore blue sky lol
I really liked the abstract images, the colours and patterns in those rocks were stunning, and the last image of Howick Bathing House was nice , you even pulled some colour out that sky. Very nice mate.
Thanks Lee yeah was tough conditions to be honest though the abstract stuff was very enjoyable, next vlog is from Spittal with only that stuff
I really loved the tones and hues you achieved there across image, Stuart 👍
Thanks Bob

Cheers yeah conditions not ideal for sure for the wider stuff though the abstract photography can be done in any weather so I’ll be back for sure
Did you go the other side of dunstanbrugh castle on the death rocks, bloody slippy but a great sunrise photo 👍
I didn’t Craig though I’ve been a few times years ago and was trying to avoid a lot of the well-trodden views, plus the sunrises were crap lol 😂

Live 5 mins from there Stuart, should've give me a shout I would have let you into a few of my secrets😊😉
It’s a lovely area I need to get over a here a bit more than I have done in the past
Have been there bit only on passing, would not mind another look maybe inspired by your tip
Cheers
I think it is probably a good thing to vary your subjects and keep them fresh. You'll look at those fells with a different eye now. :-)
Yes always good to be keep things fresh
