    • @brettcap
      @brettcap  10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Haha. Well with some people, the macronutrient/micronutrient based diet can work. Like i always say, different things work for different people! The goal is to find out what works best for you! All depends on how willing you are to sacrifice things that you enjoy to get better/healthier at something. Thanks for watching ! Also, car is not mine. It's Carli's...but we always take it to go food shppping since we buy so much lmao! Thanks again! MelonMan96

brettcap That's true! But why can't that style of diet work for you? I just thought you were into organic and eating healthy cos you wanted to? I do a bit of both, I enjoy eating healthy like you but I also count macros so I can be flexible with it if I ever want/need to :)

brettcap Ghee has actually been in Indian cuisine for ages! It is basically clarified butter--the milk component to the butter is skimmed off so all you have left is the fat component (for the lack of better phrasing lol). We usually make ghee at home by melting butter in a saucepan and skimming off the topmost layer of milk solids (this part will be white, while the remaining ghee is golden yellow).
Careful though, I would consume it in extreme moderation. Ghee is extremely high in saturated fat (146% DV) and cholesterol. One could even argue that ghee is a major contributor to India's diabetes and heart disease epidemics :( But if you limit your ghee use to reasonable serving sizes, just couple times a week, you will be just fine! With that said, good luck with your cooking adventures and I'm looking forward to seeing how you cook with ghee! :-)

I'm always working so I tend to have to eat out instead of home.. what are your go to fast and quick food places you would go to on days like that? -THANKS!

Ghee is an Indian butter replacement and from I've seen in the stores its very high in cholesterol. It might not be the best idea for a substitute. But if you wanted you could make your own version of ghee using butter from whip cream and melting it then letting it sit for a couple of hours.

Love your videos Brett! Any advice on best time intervals to eat for someone who is trying to reduce caloric intake per day by about 260-500 calories? I sometimes find I consume less in the earlier part of the day and more at night but not sure if that's beneficial. A time schedule based off your opinion would be great! Thanks. Also I'm usually full enough in between meals so I don't have to snack. Is 2 small meals and 1 bigger for dinner a healthy breakdown for my metabolism to not slow too much?

Hey Brett could u do a video about how to still eat healthy on vacation... We're going on vacation in 4 weeks and I'm nervous me and my husband will get off track cuz people we stay with might not eat healthy and don't want to be rude and not eat and don't wanna run to fast food places!!! I do always pack a cooler with healthy snack for the long drive so maybe some ideas for what to pack in a cooler for vacation trips as well!!! I think this would be beneficial to a lot of us especially since its summer and vacation traveling starts!!!:) FYI: thanks for the awesome videos.. Hey Brett, I really hope you read this comment. I really enjoyed this video and honestly your others as well.
There were definitely a lot of items that I purchase. :) I really appreciate how you share positive knowledge with everyone and wanted to share some pointers with you as well.
    1) I noticed that you said that you drink ICED lemon juice first thing in the morning but I recommend that you drink it lukewarm to warm. Lemon juice is amazing stuff..really keeps those kidney stones away and balances your PH. But drinking a COLD glass of anything first thing in the morning is a definite no-no. Always a glass of lukewarm/warm water first thing in the morning and before bed to help ease your digestive system and your metabolism. Believe me it's amazingly soothing/calming and it will do just that for you digestive system as well.
    2) I saw that you purchased molasses...and I heard you use it for drinks and what not and I really wanted to recommend Stevia. Not just any brand but this one specifically...not bitter compared to others and very clean. Really..you will thank me. It's the best stuff on earth and my bf's mother who's diabetic loves these as well since they are great substitutes for sugar that's clean, healthy and most importantly doesn't higher your blood sugar level.
    www.google.com/shopping/product/15739436426451534135?client=safari&rls=en&biw=1435&bih=861&sclient=psy-ab&q=nu+stevia+no+carb+blend&oq=nu+stevia+no+carb+blend&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.76247554,d.cWc&tch=1&ech=1&psi=SKIjVM-0NOq1sQTcrIKQBA.1411621450076.5&sa=X&ei=d6IjVLrbKY_CsAS_qIHgCw&ved=0CF8Q8wIwAA
    3) Read this book "Healthy at 100" I highly recommend. I am pretty sure you'll find it interesting. I used to like (never loved) burgers and red meat (how can you resist a good filet mignon???!?) But now (and for the past 2 years) have avoided red meat completely. This book will go in depth as to why red meat is so harmful. Just like gluten and dairy, red meat is something that's not really meant for our body and digestive system.
Based on what your videos show you are by far one of the few fitness men who eat clean. There are those fitness guys who prepare all these "healthy lean meals" with msg seasoning and loads of salt...I mean sort of defeats the purpose of the whole concept of health awareness. I really enjoy how you truly try to stay clean in both your lifestyle and food. I really hope you read this comment through and take up on that book! I have so many more other book recommendations that will interest you but I thought that was a good start.
P.S. major apologies for this massive comment but had to share.
    P.P.S. You and Carli ....

it will be great if you can talk more about both, the honey and the ghee! love the ghee idea because i am trying to lessen the amount of casein in my son's diet - but never realized that there was no casein in ghee! thanks!

Really looking forward to the video on 'Sweet Potatoes'. In my culture we eat them often and I'm always looking for creative ways of cooking them. :)

What store do you find all of this stuff at? None of the big chain stores around here carry a very big variety of organic food. The health food stores are pretty small too

Great video! Question: I read that when flaxseeds are pre - ground they lose some of their health benefits, so it's better to buy them whole and grind them up (in a coffee grinder) just before using them, is that true? If I'm not mistaken the ones you bought were already ground...thanks!

Thank you for introducing me to the raw coconut aminos seasoning! It's delish. I'm an Asian that tends to OD on soy sauce and I've been looking for a healthier alternative. Keep the tips coming!

What store did you shop at? And where about do you live? The only near by stores that have some organic by me are Sprout's, Fresh & Easy, and Trader Joe's. You have pretty much all organic foods and things I don't even see there that I would love to buy.

brettcap i know its not really but around the holidays my family always mkae dates wrapped in bacon. They are AMAZINGGGGGG. On a cheat day around the holidays you have to make them and lmk how you guys like them. you just use a whole date or chop it in half. chop the bacon in half and wrap it around the date and stick a toothpick through them. then pop them in the over wherever you go or do it before you leave, just until bacon is crispy and Voila! An awesomeeee appetizer. Give it a try!!! xo
