- Death Is Such An Odd Thing from the Broadway cast of The Dance of the Vampires.
Dance of the Vampires opened on Broadway on December 9, 2002. Music and lyrics for the English version were officially credited to Jim Steinman, and the English book was officially credited to Jim Steinman, Michael Kunze and David Ives.
On January 25, 2003, after 56 performances, Dance of the Vampires closed. According to The New York Times, it was "one of the costliest failures in Broadway history", losing roughly $12 million, easily eclipsing the infamous musical Carrie.
It's such a shame they turned one of Austria and Germany's best selling tickets into such a mess. But I have to be honest, leaving that whole disaster out of the conversation; the dialogue between Rebecca and Magda is actually pretty funny!
I saw the show, and this was hardly the only scene that was well done and entertaining. They didn't quite add up to a cohesive whole, but it was better and more entertaining than the critics, amateur and professional, gave it credit for.
---And the cast sang the hell out of the score.
What song is this based off? Steinman always used his own works in this musical and it can be found in Meatloaf's songs.
Do you have the full recording?
I can't understand why the don't take the successful european version an translate them. This is so stupid :-(
does anyone knows where I can get the English soundtrack for this musical
This is the English version.
Seit wann ist das Lied ein Duett? O.o
I actually enjoyed this show. I thought it was entertaining. I have the benefit of not seeing the German or other foreign versions, so i have nothing to compare it to.
Here is Russian version with English subtitles:

Wow...no...
Well, if they have kept the original German version (of course translated in English), it would have been a great success. But that's terrible!
clapping during the song? It looks like some people have no idea how to behave in Theatre or Opera...
In this case, the scene was built and directed for that break for applause. I saw this show numerous times and Leah Hocking never failed to get an applause break after that belted note.
The audience reaction spoils the show almost as much as the crap that was the show. Any possibly reasonable parts wiped out by the audience. I don't speak German, but the Hamburg version with subtitles is brilliant and puts this to shame.
I'd say she earned it. The script and direction was questionable but these actors tore it up in their roles.
terrible
Oh my god, the german version is sooooooooooooo much better than....this..thing o0 this is awful.
