He did the eels band appearances, released an album, and has done several interviews which for him was a lot after so many years staying away from society. for some people when you are an only child, and your one and only number one person in your life, your mother dies, then someone you finally let yourself love again also dies, all the fame and money in the world mean absolutely nothing when you have no family at all in this world and you struggle with the meaning of it all. He owes us all nothing and I'm glad to see him smile about something again.

As with most, my early 20's were spent listening to Journey and the "Voice". My memories can be timed by each new hit they put out. Steve live was a dream come true. His music of today takes me back to good & bad times, but also has helped me through recent tragedy. As he did, I was unable to listen to music after nearly losing my life. My love of Steve's story & voice made me listen to Traces and, now, I have developed a full repertoire of anything Steve Perry. My Grandkids love him, too. My only hope is to see Steve Perry in person to thank him and to hear him sing live, again. It doesn't have to be with Journey. His "Voice" is Journey and beyond.
I really respect that Steve moves forward and doesn't look back. That said, I would love to see him and Arnell with the rest of Journey do a one-shot show where they share vocal duties.

First song I ever heard from them was in a guitar store. 'Wheel in the Sky' followed by 'Lights' booming over the stereo. I knew that here was a band worth listening to. My brother was working at the local record store in the mall a few years later, when in walked Steve Perry. (Journey had played the previous night across town at the huge venue we had at the time). He recognized him and asked how the show went, to which Perry demurred at being recognized, probably thinking maybe he could be anonymous, but probably also pleased that everyone knows him, and appreciates what he's done. It was all cool. Still is.
This shows again that Steve Perry is not only a fantastic Singer and Songwriter.. he also is just a Man who'd gone through some good, bad and sad things... I feel so much connected to him 'cause alot of this happend to me either in my life (except his tremendous talent and godgiven voice I'm afraid. lol - ".... but I try..." and "Still ride it" ;-)) and the main thing is "We're still here"
