Queen Margarethe looks like she just stepped out of a magazine for this year's bride of the Year. Her gown is absolutely timeless less and of course she carried herself so beautifully.
Yes it was absolutely beautiful. I love her and Queen Elizabeth II. Beautiful, strong women and dedicated to their role as Monarch, their life of service ♥️✨♥️✨
@@ingeliseolsen1450she lost him years before. Are you saying those who don’t weep don’t feel loss? Elizabeth II didn’t weep, far too self controlled. And Henrik was lost to The Queen long before his death.
@@Kate-lk6tw Elizabeth did wipe her nose during Philip's funeral. Margrete and Henrik had a very good relationship, in later years though he wanted to be declared King and she disagreed. Henrik also had some form of dementia at the end. Are you Danish by the way?
Queen Margarethe was in no way a subject of humiliation, she was too noble for that. Her narcissistic husband was a sad envious apology for her consort and was not worthy of his beautiful, loving and kind wife and monarch. Shame on him.
Her nobility couldn’t help her once Henrik spat the dummy. It was awful to watch. He couldn’t know that it would become unendurable over decades. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Lovely woman and queen. Enrique should not have felt pushed aside because I don't think he was. Was it his lack of confidence? She valued him. I saw it written he was possibly suffering some old age onset dementia for him to be that way at the end.
I meant also to add that, being a "mere" Prince was good enough for the consorts of Great Britain's two longest reigning Queens (i.e., Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's consort ... and Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's consort -- both of whom were born into actual nobility in their original respective countries), then being a Prince of a tiny country such as Denmark ought to be more than "good enough" for a COMMONER Frenchman-turned Prince Consort.
Henrik was more fortunate than Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Before Philip married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, he had to give up his princely titles from the monarchies of Greece and Denmark to become plain "Philip Mountbatten". On marrying later on the year, he was given the style "His Royal Highness" and some noble titles (Edinburgh, Merioneth, Greenwich) but no princely title and, when the Queen ascended the throne in 1952, nothing changed. It was only 5 years later in 1957 that the Queen made him a prince again, this time of the UK. There was no "Prince Philip" between 1947 and 1957!
@@MrBulky992 Thanks for the interesting additional info. I knew that Philip had to give up his Greek (and Danish) title(s) -- although it's not as if that was a "huge sacrifice" vis-a-vis being the Consort of the future Queen of the UK, especially insofar as "royalty" was no longer a major thing in post WW II Greece (or Denmark). BUT I did NOT know that Philip was not "officially" a "Prince" of the UK until 1957 (all before my time, such that I never knew of him as anything other than "Prince" Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh). To my recollection, the true "sacrifice" Philip made to marry Elizabeth was sacrificing his beloved career as a naval officer. As you point out, that's all the more reason why Prince Henrik was (IMO) even more of a jerk. And his refusal to be buried next to his wife as some sort of petulant "payback" for her not submitting to his "demand" that he be named "King" consort ("or else") only makes him look all the more SMALL, PETTY, and NOT at all a man truly LOVING of his wife. As Queen REGNANT, it literally was IMPOSSIBLE for her to make him "King" (remember, there is no such thing as "King Consort").
