One of the traditions in our household is to take our kids separately for "dates" every 2-3 weeks. This year it has been especially challenging to do so as for almost half the year we were in lockdown. Miss S really wanted to do some Christmas Shopping with hubby, so hubby and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to surprise with her X'mas gift early as well as giving her a fun challenge.
I encourage all parents out there to take your kids one on one on little dates or outings together. It could be having a meal together, shopping, going to the library, walks etc. Just spending quality time one on one with each child doing something they want to do. I cherish my one on one "date" with both Son-shine and Miss S so much, these 2 are growing up way too quickly for my liking.

P.S I just wanted to let you all know that in Melbourne, children under the age of 12 are not required to wear face masks (as well as inside shopping centres). In fact when we are outside face masks are no longer required to be worn even for adults unless social distancing is not possible. After Melbourne’s extremely strict 4 month lockdown, when children returned to school they were not required to wear face masks by law. Victoria/Melbourne has had zero locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 for over 50 days now, with only a handful of cases from overseas which are all in hotel quarantine. I understand rules differ from country to country so wanted to explain this just in case you were wondering.

So Sweet Mel. I have to say this brought back a flood of memories with My Dad. As the oldest of 3 girls, my Dad would take me, every year, to Christmas shop for Mom. Bailey, Banks and Biddle( well known jewelry store in the USA) was always the first stop. We would have a wonderful lunch and spend the whole day together. Sadly, we lost our Dad ,age 59, to cancer from Agent Orange. Army brat here. May this be a tradition that continues to bring wonderful memories to both your hubby and daughter. First let me say I love this channel and thank you for sharing this special video with us. The pink band seems like a safe color but I feel like Miss S will see a bit of a transition in her life as she is getting older and approaching high school. I wonder if a bolder color will suit her as it will help her remember not only her first apple watch but the wonderful changes she is about to embark on. I can't wait to see how interests develop and shift in a few years. I'm so excited for her.

This was the sweetest video, watching your hubs and little girl shopping together! Last Christmas, we got Apple Watches for my two boys (13 and 11 yrs old), and they were over the moon with delight! Once they opened those gifts, we didn't see them again for the entire day. They were each tucked in a corner setting up and playing with all of the features.
