fully bru...that's my generation, the music industry is bad atm, we need another UB40 with tons of hits, no more covers and one hit wonders...bye bye "got talent programs"? maybe?
Even today's music still cannot beat the oldies. So classy that it makes you wanna scream or shout with all your heart because you miss the good old days.
Older music dont sing about sex drugs guns a dropping the N bomb all the times but they don't last long on the street because EMTS are picking up the dead bodies because all these rappers are interested in is how much money they get how much drugs they and how many little girls they can pick up ring back the oldies get rid of the 💩💩💩 they got out now days get rid of crap rap
This started playing again on UK radio (Capital Radio - London) in the summer of 1994. I was in year 10 at school and doing work experience in July at British Airways Engineering - Heathrow Airport...wow it brings back good memories! Whatever memories this song brings...I hope they are good ones for you...🎉👍💯💥
Hawaii 1989-1995 played it like it was number one every day. Waikiki every car was playing that or Bobby brown with full base, had no noise laws back then. If you didn’t get enough on Saturday nights at Waikiki, then go to ala moana beach on Sundays and here it again in thousands of cars. Great days!
I remember David Rodigan's comment on them: " they can't get any higher than number one, and they are number one across Great Britain, the mighty Aswad"
This is one of my favorite songs. Lyrics are on point & I feel alive & wanna dance when I hear this song.the very first time & the last in my entire life, I've ever gotten my heart broken & I couldn't eat for a week & cut off my very long envious hair into an Anita Baker hair cut just to send a message across, to the guy who hurt my feelings,i was trying to sing a song to console myself & this was the very song that came in mind. "don't turn around" to beg for any reason you're better than this. So much love for ASWAD all the way from Ghana. 🇬🇭
I was too young to understand the lyrics of their songs but all I knew was how good their music made me feel and now decades later I understand and I still feel the same. Loved their music.
I remember when this was number 1 in the U.K. guys. Still lovin it all these years later. Can't beat playin this at high volume in the car on a sunny May Day 2019.👍😄
Its a really hot day...driving around the rundown parts of any town in any country, worn out wreck of a car, windows down, shades on,....just day dremin'
There is something about Reggae Versions of songs that always hits differently. This one here and Morgan Heritage's "The girl is mine" are two of them gems that I play when I wanna chill.
Perhaps this is why I like nothing but the forgotten old school aside from the classics . The style and fashion was different , it hits the soul just right 🎉
Reminds me of when they came to Coventry on the day they got to no.1 with this song (at the Lanchester Polytechnic), now Coventry University. RIP Drummie, you left your mark on this part of the world!
Love this song. Didn't know Aswad was the first to cut this Diane Warren-penned composition. Was first introduced to it via Ace of Base in 1994. Discovered this version courtesy of a compilation CD that my mama owns called Pure Reggae.
Tina Turner was the first actually. My favorite version is the Ace Of Base version that I didn’t know was a cover till today since it’s so good! His is a decent version as well
Saw them live today at Pub in the Park and they were definitely the strongest singers/band this weekend, if you (Aswad) are reading please keep it up! You are amazing :)
At the time this song was a hit, I was abandoned by my girlfriend of six years for another guy. So, it has a special meaning to me. Brilliant lyrics sung by one of the best bands ever
I think they're referring to the cover released a few years later by the Swedish band Ace of Base. Ace of Base had a pop hit with "Don't Turn Around" in the mid 90s. However, I do prefer Aswad's version also.
I haven't heard this song in a while until last night🥰 This song came spontaneously in my dreams, just minutes before I woke up. So when i woke up i played this song right away☺️
Ever sung this to yourself in the mirror? ...how many yes's? We all wish we could express our pain an love like this to the people we need to WHEN WE NEED TO .

My jaw dropped. How did I never know this is the same song as the ace of base song. My jaw just dropped. I've listened to both when I was younger
So which of them sang it first?
@@imaimajim3296 Neither. Luther Ingram sang it first in 1987, and Aswad covered it a year later. Ace of Base covered in 1993.

By FAR the superior version. Shame this wasn't as successful as the cover.
What cover? This is originally a Tina Turner song.
