- August of 2000 saw the re-christening of a rebuilt The Aladdin Resort Casino in Las Vegas; which evolved into Planet Hollywood years later. This video summarizes the history of The Aladdin, as presented by Paula Francis of KLAS-TV, Las Vegas; with introduction by John Purvis.
Neil Diamond was the first performer at the theater they built attached to the hotel and casino, the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts, and always after that I wanted to stay there. Had my chance a couple of times in the 1990s, and miss the place now.
I remember this place as a little kid. My parents used to come here twice a year. It was their favorite place to gamble. They won a lot of money here in the 80's. I remember looking out of the hotel window at the dinosaur museum that used to be across the street at the time.
I went to the Alladin with my Wife, Mother in Law, and her boyfriend . On my honeymoon . 10 minutes in, I hit a jackpot on the quarter slots, $22,000.00 !!! The buzzer rang for 25 minutes . Two security guards waited in the next doorway with their hand on their pistol, staring at me . Finally a woman comes over, re-sets my machine, then announces: "it was a malfunction ". And walked away again. So did the security guards. Not cool . Not fair ! If you hit it big on a slot at the Alladin, they WILL NOT pay you . Period !
Dont EVER gamble with your money there ! Ever !!! I am very, very disappointed with them ...
I wouldn't walk into any casino, unless just to eat or for a concert.
And the Aladdin was the only one with mob ties. lol look Vegas was safer with those guys in town.
