Quick tip that's helped me a lot in the Hellashlands, ring your base in mist torches, it stops mobs spawning closeby, you don't need to refuel them, and it slows down the bone use in your shield, also looks pretty cool.
A flametal gate would fit perfectly at your front entrance (i would assume its much more resistant against mobs), the small arches connecting at the same point is a missed opportunity from iron gate studios. also look into the game Soulmask, we both like the same games based on your videos so you will probably love it. at first i didn't know what to think but once i got a couple hours into it i got hooked.

u can just place 1 shield generator next to the center and it will cover the fortress
