Luther's last album before he passed away. He left us with this treasure of an album 💕💕💕

This remake won Best RnB Duet at the 2004 Grammys. This was off Luther’s last studio album Dance with My Father which one 4 Grammys including Song of The Year and Best RnB Album. This song is also on Beyonces Debut Album Dangerously in Love which was also a Grammy darling that year too.
This came out in the early 2000s around the same time her album Dangerously In Love came out. This song is also on the Dangerously In Love album
It first appeared on luther vandross last album Dance with my father which was released when he was in a coma or recovering from a stroke then weeks later it appeared on beyonce debut album dangerously in love in 2003
A++ top notch song, legendary vocals, featuring the greatest performer of all time. You simply can’t argue with that. Whitney once said on live TV, “ Luther, you’re the greatest, he’s the best”.
You have to check out the original. Pure and simple. Donny Hathaway has one of the most beautiful voices ever.
You should definitely also check out Luther and the multi talented Gregory Hines duet.
This is really nice smooth & mellow. Beyoncé got to work with all the Greats, they could see the Greatness in her even as young as she was, wow how exciting!
This was 2003 on what turned out to be Luther's last and Beyonce's first solo albums, respectively. I'm surprised nobody has brought up how Luther sings Roberta's parts, and Beyonce sings Donny's parts on this remake.

It was written by James Mtume and Reggie Lucas.
Mtume (biggie sampled "juicy fruit" by Mtume on "juicy") did their own version also in 1978.
Mtume (pronounced m-2-may) member Tawatha Agee sang background for Luther, so she's on backgrounds on the Beyonce/luther version.

Jack, Beyoncé has good ears and a musician who mixes, produces, writes, directs and conceptualizes her music with other creatives. Of course she won't do those church belts she does during DC days and on her early solo live performances.
