I logged my young life on Vancouver Island mostly on the riggin on ground like that...its one thing climbing around of them sidehills in your cork boots...its another bringing a load down...huge respect for all the truck driver's...and typically, always awesome guys!
Easy peasy! Learned to drive trucks with log trucking & a great experience! Thankya for sharing your knowhow as well & as always, truck safe driver, 10-4. Whatch that hill side when it becomes greasy!!!
Oh, gracious, this reminds me of riding with my dad in his logging truck in Sonora, Ca so many years ago. I had to close my eyes and scrunch down in the seat
Ya I just mentioned that on their other video. The dangers on work and effort that went into building this road by someone where a road didn't exist. To be on the side of a mountain pushing a road through behind you the road you are building up and in front just the slope of the mountain side where you are going cutting into the hillside and pushing forward to create a usable road to drive on. Both are just as dangerous.
And, as the old saying goes: "The fuel you save going downhill isn't going to make up for the fuel burn going uphill.....!" GREAT Vid... Thanks for posting..! Gordon
Intolerant American "AMERICA NEEDS ARE MOVED BY TRUCKS"... was in the freight industry for 38yrs... woman keep the country going...they buy all the products....
Josh S you have no clue how rough it is. You risk your life driving on dangerous roads and in dangerous weather. Think to yourself... you wouldn't have what you have (ANY OF IT!) IF IT wasn't for truck drivers. So rethink what you said. Unless you drive a semi don't sit there and undermined what truck drivers do. They have a bigger impact on anyone's life than other job profession.
Joe Cameron actually there are many methods of transportation other than trucking, no doubt it is hard probably but they are not that important to the world
Rookies take notice, it's steady as she goes in these situations. Your not playing music, checking your phone, trying to find your bladder buster Mountain Dew on the floor board! You need to fully focus on the job at hand and you need to hear every noise the truck, trailer and load makes as you move along. It could save your life. Cool video!
My dad did this back in 68 in a 56 Peterbuilt with a brownie box.Extremely dangerous especially when another truck comes the opposite way.Oh yeah he was only 18 at the time.
I'm a dump truck driver for 17 years I've seen and done some things like this. Got to respect log truck drivers very dangerous job.it's not for everyone that's for sure.
I might have ridden shotgun in that truck 40 years ago and been okay but I don't think I could even walk that road now...as beautiful as the scenery is it's still terrifying. OMG, I just realized I turned into my mother. lol
You: called him out for clickbaiting. Him: didnt address you correctly calling him out for clickbaiting, and threw an insult in there. Probably because he knew you were right.
I drove off the side of a mountain hauling dirt in a dump truck and it would shift on the springs and kept me scared to death the whole time because you could feel the dirt under the wheels slide like you were on ice
Hey man that was pretty cool I remember doing the same thing and strawberry iarizona er will coming down with logs the only difference is I laid the damn freaking truck on its side and all the logs are still all over the road haha good firewood for somebody
When I was kid in the 1960's several times a year we went to a camping area high in the mountains and to get there we drove on those logging roads. I'd lay on the back seat with my eyes closed until we got to the campground.
My father could do this, probably in reverse, in the middle of the night LOL I've been with him on some OTR hauls when I was a kid, I'm still amazed at how he would back up double trailers in the darkness of night, on the first try, in 20°F weather, somewhere in Bumblefuck Massachusetts... all you got for guidance are those blinking red and green lights outside the loading doors.
The drivers that look over the edge and keep thinking about what would happen if they drove over the edge, will never make it. You MUST focus on keeping the unit ON THE ROAD instead and forget about "what a wreck it would be if". The brian has this ability to focus on what really matters if you let it. If your careful and focus on your rig staying the road, instead of constantly looking over the edge and visualizing going over, you'd be fine. Aside from mechanical breakdown, road failure, just kerp the rig on the road and you'll be fine. Don't get me wrong, being a little scared is ok if it helps you be safer, but if it makes you panic, you need a different job.
Jason Carpp basically instead of hooking on the 5th wheel the trailer hooks up the the back of the truck like a small trailer you might pull with a car, as you turn the ass end of the truck swings the opposite way yanking the trailer much farther to the outside of the turn than a normal trailer thus dramatically tightening the turning circle, the trailer is very short, however it can still carry long logs because the trailer actually is only holding the back end of the logs, the front ends are resting on the truck frame. You can check big picture on his channel too. Or his driveby videos
Canuck Outdoors is correct on this. The reach from the dolly axles carries no weight, it connects the dolly to the truck with a pintle hook and guides the dolly. The weight of the logs is carried by the swiveling bunks on the truck and dolly. If the frame of the truck is long enough and the reach is the right length, the dolly wheels will not off-track. The dolly wheels will actually follow in the track of the drive axles. Great for mountain logging like this. They also load the dolly on the truck when unloaded. Easier to manueve, better ride, and makes for easier and shorter turn-outs to make way for loaded trucks on the narrow logging roads. Loaded trucks always have the right of way over empties.
Lmao, just showed this to a driver trainer who was talking to his student about skills and what he expects,... he said oh HELL NO,... ha ha ha goddamn tomato jockeys, so you think you're a truck driver, go do this shit or pipeline in the mountains, then come and tell us how hard it was to get into a dock at freaking Walmart !!
I've been down a few narrow places going into mines on ice and snow but,at least it was on pavement. Nonetheless, still makes the butt pucker the seat a bit knowing the drop off is about 3-400 feet below. North of I70 in Colorado
As a guy who just regularly drives a 10 wheel dump trucks on roads like this, I have mad respect for log truck drivers who do it.
These guys work too hard for to little and we all take the risks they face for granted I know I'm thankful for the work they do
I logged my young life on Vancouver Island mostly on the riggin on ground like that...its one thing climbing around of them sidehills in your cork boots...its another bringing a load down...huge respect for all the truck driver's...and typically, always awesome guys!
Sidehills or hillsides?
Easy peasy! Learned to drive trucks with log trucking & a great experience! Thankya for sharing your knowhow as well & as always, truck safe driver, 10-4. Whatch that hill side when it becomes greasy!!!
You got balls of stainless steel...I've got 38 yrs. experience, that made me queezy...thanks for posting...
Nah this dude has balls of titanium, bedrock, netherite, and Nokia material combined
Oh, gracious, this reminds me of riding with my dad in his logging truck in Sonora, Ca so many years ago. I had to close my eyes and scrunch down in the seat
You think this is bad? What about the poor bastard who drove the cat that built this road?
Cat Bird. Hauling logs is worse.
At least the cat will not blow up as bad as this truck lol

One day the world could run out of professionals like this. Well done driver☝️
Ha thanks for the appreciation.
Thank you.The Danger's in envolved with the whole Logging Process from the Loggers too the Log truck Drivers.Thank you .
And, as the old saying goes: "The fuel you save going downhill isn't going to make up for the fuel burn going uphill.....!" GREAT Vid... Thanks for posting..! Gordon
Truckers really don't get enough credit....
Intolerant American amen to that bud no we don't

Intolerant American log truckers are different than long haulera
Joe Cameron actually there are many methods of transportation other than trucking, no doubt it is hard probably but they are not that important to the world
This has got to be nerve racking every time no matter how many times this drive is accomplished. Excellent work by the driver.
went form watching Maine lobster boat races to this.
driver mad respect to you👍👍👍
Thanks. You can see my truck in The unforgivable movie with Sandra bullock on Netflix this week.
This is a real truck driver, not a whiny steering wheel holder!
Ten four!!
I work as a construction worker, I have found that when they make it look easy, it's because they are GOOD!
One of my uncles died when his log truck “came off a cliff” in the 70s. 😢
I imagine the road he was on looked very much like this one.
Unreal driving skills..really knuckle biting skills..your insane doing that back and forth..wow
Beautiful views.. And great driving...that is sasquatch country..
Rookies take notice, it's steady as she goes in these situations. Your not playing music, checking your phone, trying to find your bladder buster Mountain Dew on the floor board! Are people disliking cause the truck didn’t actually fall off the cliff? lol the guys still alive so that’s good
I drive a log truck and haul out of some hell holes but this is pretty hard core.
i build wooden model logging truck replicas so i always enjoy watching your videos
My truck is in the unforgivable movie on Netflix this weekend with Sandra Bullock . Thanks for watching
@@104bigTruck awesome i will be sure to check it out
My dad did this back in 68 in a 56 Peterbuilt with a brownie box.Extremely dangerous especially when another truck comes the opposite way.Oh yeah he was only 18 at the time.
nothing dangerous with other trucks anymore now that we have CB radios and mile markers.
I first said that has to be a dump truck. then I saw the trailer in the mirror. I got mad respect for you Sir.
Kudos to you, I've driven past some of these logging roads, and I won't even walk them! Lol
I tip my beer to this driver! Superbly executed!
Brakes don't fail me now!
What brakes?
that has a pucker factor of 10+
No way....my nerves couldn't handle that job, EVER. Kudos to those drivers who can do it.
I'm a dump truck driver for 17 years I've seen and done some things like this. Got to respect log truck drivers very dangerous job.it's not for everyone that's for sure.
Been there, done that. Thanks for the memories!
Now don't you go missing any gears there dude..
Hey mate how are ya? Still rocking the Nullabor?
gm16v149 I
Great video showing it like it is.
Great driving, I love the Pacific northwest!
Very nice! Love the views. Be safe brother.
I'm glad he didn't come off that road !! BADASS!! God's speed gentlemen, God's speed.
Truckers work an average of 100 hrs a week, We tell the cops we work 70, and we get paid for 50.😎
Martin Dodds You work 100 hours but get paid for 50? Huh?
TheLife96 I think he's saying the rest is paid "under the table" and untaxed. Just cash.
Works 100 inly gets paid for 50........and you continue to do this? Genius
+Ben Schmitz that's what he said he tells them.
I might have ridden shotgun in that truck 40 years ago and been okay but I don't think I could even walk that road now...as beautiful as the scenery is it's still terrifying. OMG, I just realized I turned into my mother. lol
I'll keep my truck out on the interstate thank-you lol
"Coming off cliff" is not what we see here.
nah that's what would happen if you were prob driving. lol
batvette exactly
thats why so many dislikes
You: called him out for clickbaiting.
Him: didnt address you correctly calling him out for clickbaiting, and threw an insult in there. Probably because he knew you were right.
I drive a truck I tell you, YOU have nerves of steel I couldn't do that 👍for those that do.
Enjoyable to watch a pro in action.
Thanks!
I drove off the side of a mountain hauling dirt in a dump truck and it would shift on the springs and kept me scared to death the whole time because you could feel the dirt under the wheels slide like you were on ice
Just look what these guys go thru to get a few logs off from the top of a hill, They are great
He got mad skills and some big balls I would have just quit my job lol you rock bruh
using engine brake down to not burn out brakes?
Beautiful scenery, worst nightmare would be if brakes fail.😔
I love driving in mountains and on switchback roads!
I LIKE TO SEE THE ROAD A LITTLE MORE NARROW FOR ME BEFORE I WOULD TAKE THE JOB 😀
lol
Hey man that was pretty cool I remember doing the same thing and strawberry iarizona er will coming down with logs the only difference is I laid the damn freaking truck on its side and all the logs are still all over the road haha good firewood for somebody
That scares the soul outta me😱
When I was kid in the 1960's several times a year we went to a camping area high in the mountains and to get there we drove on those logging roads. I'd lay on the back seat with my eyes closed until we got to the campground.
I flew Med Evac out of Ft Lewis when I was stationed there. We picked up a lot of guys who went off the logging roads.
Id have to change my pant's after i got down the mountain..you guy's are hardcore
Driver has great brass balls!!!!
Jerry Brantley more like titanium
That’s a special breed of trucker, I drove trucks for over 40 years but you wouldn’t get my ass in that truck
We get stuck with winter strips on roads like that here in N. Idaho.
Winter or summer, they suck!!!
Yeahh! No thanks but, amazin driving. Wow! Good brakes, skills and some prayer = SUCCESS! Respect!
I love this work.
Great video. And some funny comments.
Where is the part where he goes off the edge?
My father could do this, probably in reverse, in the middle of the night LOL I've been with him on some OTR hauls when I was a kid, I'm still amazed at how he would back up double trailers in the darkness of night, on the first try, in 20°F weather, somewhere in Bumblefuck Massachusetts... all you got for guidance are those blinking red and green lights outside the loading doors.
Recording while driving this technical path. Smart!
This driver has skills and nuts made out of STEEL …
I have no idea how you can negotiate those terrifying switchbacks and downshift with those GIANT BALLS in the way!
Just put in my first winter hauling logs in North western Alberta, haven't had to go down such a hill loaded.
Where's a good place to turn around if you forget your lunch box?
Beautiful scenery.
Looks super safe going down hill and moving the camera around
Its ok I know CPR :)
TheGoatsDad right
104bigTruck I see a bad moon rising, uh, looks like we're in for nasty weather(:

That was a cool video thanks
Wtf!!!! I felt more comfort seeing a beheading video !!! Noo wayyyy
Call me naive, but that looks way too narrow for anyone with a trailer to navigate safely.
Jason Carpp he has a pintle hook trailer which doesnt cut as wide as a fifth wheel trailrr
I've never heard of a "pintle hook" trailer. What's that?
Jason Carpp basically instead of hooking on the 5th wheel the trailer hooks up the the back of the truck like a small trailer you might pull with a car, as you turn the ass end of the truck swings the opposite way yanking the trailer much farther to the outside of the turn than a normal trailer thus dramatically tightening the turning circle, the trailer is very short, however it can still carry long logs because the trailer actually is only holding the back end of the logs, the front ends are resting on the truck frame. Fuckin aye, that is serious.
Am I the only one who was expecting the truck to roll off the cliff based on that title?
This is a house of lies no one came off a cliff and he probably goes home and says there has been no lot lizzards in the cab with him 2
Lmao, just showed this to a driver trainer who was talking to his student about skills and what he expects,... he said oh HELL NO,... ha ha ha goddamn tomato jockeys, so you think you're a truck driver, go do this shit or pipeline in the mountains, then come and tell us how hard it was to get into a dock at freaking Walmart !!
That’s a rush 😎 .... much respect to you
Dude. Brakes !! Fix em 😮😮
Nothing to fix .
My internal voice going no no no no no was in perfect sinc with the engine brake :D
These guys have got balls of steel!!!
awesome views great sound
Is that road passable in the rain?
Sure would be a nail biter.
Know a guy who logged in Washington state for 65 years , no accidents.
Where is it exactly?
I would like to go there with my side by side if possible, has some really nice views.
What it beutifull ride and view i love Washington
Low gear all the way down. Nice job!👍🏼👍🏼
For the people who see a driver stuck in the city and say “they shouldn’t have a cdl”...
Great video 📹
Hi 104bigTruck , would you please send me where exactly was this shot? Cannot find it in the google maps around Bellingham :(
You good Sir, are not paid enough!!! Be safe!
What are you doing up there? :)
Imagine those roads were wet. :(
How do you deal with uncoming trucks?
Not nearly enough road for me,
You have fun with that job. I won’t bother applying.
Switchbacks and dusty brakes... Drop some elevation pretty quick.
Beautifull country, Just a little South of where I haul logs. Salmo , Creston, B.C.
Great ride!! 2 and done....
Some of you, no all of you know it alls need to ride down with this guy. You might learn something.
I held my breath the whole video that is scary!
Look at how they destroyed the mountain... 😳
WELL , " OLD TRUCKERS NEVER DIE , THEY JUST GET A NEW PETERBILT "
