He was once singing this in a private sitting. He began the antara "Phir raushan kar zehar ka pyala .." Just then, one of the guests accidentally tipped his glass and spilled the drink. Never one to lose a chance to crack a joke, Jagjit paused and said, "Zehar ka pyala gir gaya" Everybody was in splits, including himself.
He was very witty.

Jagjit Singh is one of the singer whom you listen to is like dream come true. He is not only my favourite but was also a great favourite ghazal singer for my late father. He once commented that Jagjit Singh would be a great ghazal singer one day.
