one extra thing to note is that you *can* keep attacking in the 2nd phase, Spamton just gets to a point where he heals every turn with Pipis thankfully the final hit, he was already at 8% hp, which allowed me to get to 6% hp immediately (the lowest his hp can possibly go), showing the text that he did in fact heal with Pipis

This route is chilling. Even more so than Undertale’s genocide route, for me at least. The things you do to get here…and the consequences and “special dialogue” after the fact in Hometown, it’s crazy. I think Deltarune legit has the potential to rise above Undertale as Toby’s magnum opus.

Yeah, the best part is it doesn't feel natural. You have to go so far out of your way to do it, it feels like you have broken the game. It feels like a real creepypasta, but without all the shit clichés that usually come with them
In Undertale you kill everybody in the underground, and in the end, the game itself. In this route you've only killed one person so far... yet it feels so much more impactful, for some reason.

You have killed a couple people in the dark world... the reason this death holds so much impact is because the player doesn’t expect what they do in the dark world to directly transfer into the light world. And who would blame them? Everybody kinda just turns into cards and random crap (though ralsei doesn’t, so I think that that is actually Asriel and that whatever happened at college, if he even did go, made him stumble into the dark world. How would he have followed us here?
@@invenotrainworld see, I like this interpretation. Kris likely can't survive a very long time without our/their SOUL, but they want to show that they're not just our avatar. This can also be seen in a few dialogue bits, in which Kris actively reinterprets commands given by us.
4:23 I think this part is very important, Spamton's version of Sans' "just don't say I didn't warn ya". Maybe falling through with the route will alter the game for later chapters in some way like how doing genocide alters the pacifist ending in Undertale

On one hand, jeez this run is disturbing and I’m slightly scared by the fact I reeealllly got into character when playing it. On the other hand, “DIDN’T YOU KNOW [Neo] IS FAMOUS FOR ITS HIGH DEFENSE!?” had me laughing for quite a while.
In Undertale, Mettaton is mostly a machine. It has the soul of a monster, sure, but its body is not purely made of magic. This is the only flaw in Mettaton Neo’s design, and is the sole reason he goes down so easily in genocide. His high defense would have worked if not for this ):

I noticed something interesting. When Spamton uses his Neo form and you call out to your friends, the box says “Kris called out for help… but nobody came.” Then when you eventually call for Noelle, it says “YOU whispered Noelle’s name…” Does this mean that Kris was calling out for their allies, but YOU the player summoned Noelle? Any other ideas?

I always found it strange the screen never cuts back to Kris sealing the fountain. The SOUL appears at the ENTRYWAY, which is definitely not where Kris was standing in the blackout. But, it's reasonably... where Noelle was standing. For one scene, did the Red SOUL jump to Noelle's body, I'm wondering?
Snowgrave is even more sickening than genocide. You aren’t just dirty for killing people but the game makes you feel like shit because you manipulated someone (who has a clear distaste for this) to do it for you. Not kris. You. The person behind the screen. The puppet master.
I just have a question, how the hell did Spamton get all the way over there? This would've meant that he can get his upgraded body all by himself, therefore knowing of the fact that you are killing everyone.
Well he gave you the thorn ring in the first place, then waited for everyone to die so he could go into the palace without fear of anyone kicking him out
Easy: Swatch and the security forces are stated to prevent his entrance. Since they are variously disposed of by Noelle and Rouxls during the massacre, Spamton takes advantage of the Chaos and does a little remodelling of the mansion while he becomes [[God]]. Queen didn't even notice
also notice: if you do a run where you fight but not a full genocide run, berdly's arm gets broken in one of the fights with him. *and it's still broken when he wakes up in the light world.* (i haven't actually tried to see this in game but i saw people talking about it in a discord server)

It's so weird that Spamton Neo goes from just a special weird secret pacifist/neutral boss, to a "hero" of the Snowgrave route. Because Queen doesn't just stomp you down with her massive robot, he fills in as the final boss to try and stop you. I just think it's neat.
True, but also he's not acting to be a hero, he literally helped you achieve this route afterall. He used the fact you were doing this route in order to take over the castle and own the fountain. He's defending the fountain as he doesn't want to lose what he gained. And in the process, he's gonna make himself look like a hero
This dude must have bullied to death the pacifist version of spamton and did the snowgrave run only after discovering that spamton is the final boss just to see the new dialogue, and of course, to bully him even more
Took me about 30 minutes total to do, new save, hardly any prep. Had no idea this fight was even here. This is such a fun fucking fight. But I feel like it would have taken like an hour longer if I didn't have the TP boost item. (Edit) but something that messes me up about this, this isn't just pacifist or neutral/genocide. Kinda like how undertale has true pacifist... this game has true genocide. And that's a little unsettling. This route gives you NOTHING. No items, no achievements, hardly any growth for your party (but that part isn't necessary, you dont have to kill until you get noell.). This run hardly grows the gameplay, it's just mindless unfair killing, unfair in the sense of the power you hold through noell. Compared to this, I can hardly call fighting a few monster or even all monsters a genocide route. It holds *no reward* just death. Nothing to boost attack, nothing to boost defense. In a path like this it is no longer about fighting monsters, or killing them. It's something more, and thats scares the hell out of me.
You know, I dont see alot of people talking about how when spamton notices that hes about to die, hes at 6%, which is a number that is very associated with gaster. And that he talks about Heaven alot. Angels come from heaven, and the Angel from the prophecy has never been shown yet, if you take the theory that genocide and pacifist never actually fufill the prophecy gerson talked about.
When I did the snow grave route I didn’t fight the normal spamton secret fight in my first play through, but I still beat this boss on my first try. Looking back I honestly don’t know how, other than it was really hard, but forgiving. Like I never got hit by the same attack more than twice. I only know this is true because I didn’t even know that the game over screen was different from undertales until a few days later. I’ve probably gotten hit by every attack in the game, but I never died

Let me tell you: I respect and I am amazed at how you did things harder for yourself and succed. Also: what the hell. This just... Is proof that the player is.. the main antagonist. Be sincere pal, no one was forcing you to do this. But in order to show your skills... You broke Noelle. You made her kill. Just to show on TH-cam that you can no hit this boss without using X-slash. Think about it. It might be just a game, yes.. but.. let's say chapter 7 comes around. There is this specific boss that you can only fight after a genocide. After breaking who knows how many people, forcing them to murder. You will do it just to show a no hit run again right? And this is why we, the player, is the real antagonist of Deltarune. And Undertale. It's not Gaster. it's not Chara. It's not Kris. *It's.* *Us.* *For this.*
nitpicky, but the protagonist is the main character of the story, not the hero of it. The antagonist is whoever goes against the protagonist, not necessarily the villian(though that's usually what happens)

The reason for not using x-slash is the exact reason I almost went the entire fight without using it, the only reason I discovered it was because a friend told me to check my act menu
Someone made a really interesting observation in the fact that we’re *literally* playing the role of Chara for Noelle. Seeing the dialogue at the hospital gives major red flags… Goddamn this genocide route is shaping up to be brilliant

Well, remember that Spamton can’t actually die in the normal route even when you deplete his HP to zero. Any way you beat him, he decides to become an item and help you, just like Jevil. Perhaps Spamton NEO really is unkillable, and Noelle froze him temporarily before he could stop you from sealing his fountain.
_remembers how the only way I was beat this guy the first time was literally no items because I ran out of money before fighting him, and gave all my best gear to Noelle like a dumbass_ I knew it was gonna get problematic the moment I saw the vending machine
Btw i don't know if it was intended reference or it was always supposed to be like it but when Spamton says "what's she gonna do? Make me an ice cream?" Could be a reference to Ralsei's unused dialoge during the swan boat ride in acid lake. He mentions Noelle and her ice powers then says "maybe if you asked her nicely, she would even make you an ice cream"

You hotta have played this a thousand times to be comfortable enough with all the attacks but also you cant have played it more than a bit on account of never having tried to act
i actually had only played the fight a grand total of 6 times, 5 time for the first clear, 6th being the nohit the first attempt i started recording, which was a complete accident since i just wanted to show the dialogue
I have doubts this was actually done first try, but regardless nice job doing him damageless with just base equipment and no X slash. When I did him no-hit I had almost the highest possible attack (20, the highest is 21) and used X slash a lot. Taking bout 10 turns or so, 1 extra because I fucked up at one point. X slash with base equipment seems to always do 10% of his health meanwhile normal average 3%-6% (depending on your own attack really) and the most damage to his health you can do is 596 (12%) in a single turn with X slash.
@@megav1022 my equipment was Mecha Saber Purple Ribbon Jevils Tail Purple ribbon is to increase graze radius to make TP gain easier and a bit more safely. Jevils tail is to buff attack significantly.
"first try" doesnt mean the first time i ever played the boss btw, of course i didnt no hit it first actual try lmao (i also never even outright said i did it first try, people just assumed that) it took 4 attempts to beat him the first time after i beat em, i did normal spamton neo no hit (which took ~15 tries or so), then decided to record snowgrave spamton neo for dialogue, and i just happened to do it no hit without even intending to lmaoo
@@mystral_fox genocide took me bout 30 runs or so due to running into bullets like an idiot. But eventually got used to his attacks. You just seemed to make it an endurance challenge by not using X slash to speed it up and very low attack. Which, I am impressed.

@@invenotrainworld see, I like this interpretation. Kris likely can't survive a very long time without our/their SOUL, but they want to show that they're not just our avatar. This can also be seen in a few dialogue bits, in which Kris actively reinterprets commands given by us.

In Undertale, Mettaton is mostly a machine. It has the soul of a monster, sure, but its body is not purely made of magic. This is the only flaw in Mettaton Neo’s design, and is the sole reason he goes down so easily in genocide. His high defense would have worked if not for this ):
@@paws9248 NEO’s Defense is literally 9. I’m pretty sure the less metal box Mettaton becomes, the more vulnerable he is to attack (255 normally, 47 in EX). So, NEO just has abysmal DEF stats.

I noticed something interesting. When Spamton uses his Neo form and you call out to your friends, the box says “Kris called out for help… but nobody came.” Then when you eventually call for Noelle, it says “YOU whispered Noelle’s name…”
Does this mean that Kris was calling out for their allies, but YOU the player summoned Noelle? Any other ideas?
No this is pretty much exactly what happens. Backed up by Berdly fight dialogue if Kris falls, and the Hospital dialogue

Easy: Swatch and the security forces are stated to prevent his entrance. Since they are variously disposed of by Noelle and Rouxls during the massacre, Spamton takes advantage of the Chaos and does a little remodelling of the mansion while he becomes [[God]]. Queen didn't even notice

It's so weird that Spamton Neo goes from just a special weird secret pacifist/neutral boss, to a "hero" of the Snowgrave route. Because Queen doesn't just stomp you down with her massive robot, he fills in as the final boss to try and stop you. I just think it's neat.
True, but also he's not acting to be a hero, he literally helped you achieve this route afterall. He used the fact you were doing this route in order to take over the castle and own the fountain. He's defending the fountain as he doesn't want to lose what he gained.
And in the process, he's gonna make himself look like a hero

Took me about 30 minutes total to do, new save, hardly any prep. Had no idea this fight was even here.
This is such a fun fucking fight. But I feel like it would have taken like an hour longer if I didn't have the TP boost item.
(Edit) but something that messes me up about this, this isn't just pacifist or neutral/genocide. Kinda like how undertale has true pacifist... this game has true genocide. And that's a little unsettling. This route gives you NOTHING. No items, no achievements, hardly any growth for your party (but that part isn't necessary, you dont have to kill until you get noell.).
This run hardly grows the gameplay, it's just mindless unfair killing, unfair in the sense of the power you hold through noell.
Compared to this, I can hardly call fighting a few monster or even all monsters a genocide route. It holds *no reward* just death. Nothing to boost attack, nothing to boost defense. In a path like this it is no longer about fighting monsters, or killing them. It's something more, and thats scares the hell out of me.

You know, I dont see alot of people talking about how when spamton notices that hes about to die, hes at 6%, which is a number that is very associated with gaster. And that he talks about Heaven alot. Angels come from heaven, and the Angel from the prophecy has never been shown yet, if you take the theory that genocide and pacifist never actually fufill the prophecy gerson talked about.

When I did the snow grave route I didn’t fight the normal spamton secret fight in my first play through, but I still beat this boss on my first try. Looking back I honestly don’t know how, other than it was really hard, but forgiving. Like I never got hit by the same attack more than twice. I only know this is true because I didn’t even know that the game over screen was different from undertales until a few days later. I’ve probably gotten hit by every attack in the game, but I never died

Well, remember that Spamton can’t actually die in the normal route even when you deplete his HP to zero. Any way you beat him, he decides to become an item and help you, just like Jevil. Perhaps Spamton NEO really is unkillable, and Noelle froze him temporarily before he could stop you from sealing his fountain.

i actually had only played the fight a grand total of 6 times, 5 time for the first clear, 6th being the nohit the first attempt i started recording, which was a complete accident since i just wanted to show the dialogue

I have doubts this was actually done first try, but regardless nice job doing him damageless with just base equipment and no X slash. When I did him no-hit I had almost the highest possible attack (20, the highest is 21) and used X slash a lot. Taking bout 10 turns or so, 1 extra because I fucked up at one point. X slash with base equipment seems to always do 10% of his health meanwhile normal average 3%-6% (depending on your own attack really) and the most damage to his health you can do is 596 (12%) in a single turn with X slash.

it took 4 attempts to beat him the first time
after i beat em, i did normal spamton neo no hit (which took ~15 tries or so), then decided to record snowgrave spamton neo for dialogue, and i just happened to do it no hit without even intending to lmaoo
@@mystral_fox genocide took me bout 30 runs or so due to running into bullets like an idiot. But eventually got used to his attacks. You just seemed to make it an endurance challenge by not using X slash to speed it up and very low attack. Which, I am impressed.
