    To be fair, Jayce is a good player, especially at the deep ball. However, I feel we don't throw deep often enough to stretch the field and use his abilities. And at times he was open deep and was overthrown. Maybe it's best if he goes somewhere that throws the ball 30 times a game. You can't knock him if he's doing what's the best for him or at least thinks he's doing what's best for him. His consistency has been an issue and wherever he goes he needs to realize that he needs to work hard.

    • @JoeTillery

      I agree. Think it’s best for both sides. It’s a good time to part rather than sticking around too long and it becoming overly toxic. Can absolutely live with this

      I worry that if we play him, he will put in the same level of effort that Will Lee did in last year's ISU game in Manhattan. It will be interesting to see how things shake out tomorrow.

    • @JoeTillery

      @@BehindTheReelFishing that and Spivey having #1 potential. He knows he won’t be the guy next year so he want to go somewhere where he is.

  • @nomadwildcatfan

    If he is entertaining entering the portal, he needs to stay home. Spivey and Cephas are playing better right now.
    I remember a young man named Josh Youngblood who got bigheaded, hit the portal and his career just got worse from there.

    • @JoeTillery

    He was okay on his best days. He had a few good plays this season but the consistency in route running just wasn’t there. As a blocker and route runner he was meh. It wasn’t due to lack of us scheming or throwing to him.

    • @JoeTillery

      You said it. At some point players have to take accountability and step up. Otherwise you see the result. Interesting to see what happens next!

  • @big12plus

    This is a question, not a prediction. Will Avery hit the next portal window? Why you ask? Two of his present (Brown) and future targets (Cure) are &/or maybe leaving K-State. One is Avery's roommate, Brown, and the other is a good friend, Cure, do they know something?!? Then there's Avery's lack of making the progress everyone thought he'd make during the year. Here's just one example, he seems to struggle finding the open receiver(s). This, in my opinion, is a coaching issue, not Avery's. There's the question and a few reasons to wonder and maybe worry!?!

    • @JoeTillery

      I would doubt it to be honest. He’s K-State through and through. If he didn’t flirt with other teams and consider leaving when stuff was tough the first time around without Klein, I expect him here for the long haul unless something happens to Klieman. Anything’s possible but I’m set on Avery returning. And if not, I’m the leader of the Blake Barnett train

    • @JoeTillery

  • @thekrakenguy6962

    Is this because of Spivey taking more reps? Jayce was a stud at the deep ball but a mediocre blocker and route runner outside deep balls.

    • @JoeTillery

      I think it’s a lot of things but I think he’s mostly unhappy he’s not getting the ball as much if I had to guess

    It's going to be transfer portal chaos. Advantage to Deep Pockets. Tough on developmental kids. Yes, no, or maybe?

    • @JoeTillery

      Absolutely. Especially with roster cuts coming too. Dudes have to find a home early otherwise they may be left out. Will have to wait and see I suppose

    • @JoseCastillo-sd2hv

      I don't think schools have time to be developmental schools anymore. Looks, these kids aren't dumb. They see what is going on around them. Kids play for teams that can put them in the pros. State's current coaching staff doesn't have a stellar record of putting kids in the pros with meaningful careers.

  • @marktreml6206

    It,s one thing to transfer out .. but the thing of it is not the K State way !!! He could of waited until After this game .Maybe he looks to look at all the easy drops he had but K State has Always been a run first pass second with their offense.Good luck at Texas A & M

    • @JoeTillery

      Agreed. Still think he ends up at FSU, but A&M wouldn’t shock me

  • @JackHouser-oy7fq

    Don’t take him to Ames! I believe all of the players that had decided to enter the portal last year before the Iowa State game was the major contributor to K State losing! Take the kids that Really want to play!!

    • @JoeTillery

      Agreed! I think he’ll be there and be suited up out of necessity but I can’t imagine him playing much at all

  • @tannerdavis4470

    I don’t blame him for leaving. If I was a receiver I would HATE to play in a Lincoln Riley offense. His offense is horrible for receivers. Riley has no clue how to put together an offense that can do anything other than run the ball and drop the ball off to tight ends.

    • @JoeTillery

      Conor Riley offense haha, Lincoln Riley may be option No. 1 for like everyone in the country. But I totally know what you’re going for no sweat. I get that people are gonna leave but I also don’t see the offense as bad enough for some mass exodus after ten wins. My guess is Jayce would have left wether it was CK or anyone calling plays. Sometimes dudes just hit their breaking point. Plus (fingers crossed) seems like Riley’s getting better on the sidelines. We’ll see tonight tho

  • @dannysmiley7420

    He played and scored 2 TD’s! Should have been 3! So no he wasn’t “in the portal!” He may have intentions to enter the portal in the coming days but it was not accurate in the least to say “he was in the portal”! It hasn’t even opened yet! Enough with the hyperbole and taking rumors at face value!

    • @JoeTillery

      Look man. It’s out there, I’m not gonna sit here and pretend it’s not. Is it possible Jayce stays because they worked something out? Sure. But it’s not like the man isn’t shopping and planning to leave.

  • @jjh31

    He is NOT a true star. He’s an ok receiver that may or may not block, and may or may not catch the ball. He’s definitely replaceable.

    • @JoeTillery

      You’re right. He’s good by default as we needed someone to step up. Think he can be a special player, but don’t think it clicked this year and he’s choosing to cut ties

      I have quickly turned to Tre Spivey. He’s the truth. Retaining him is going to be key but think he’s a 100% committed dude to the Cats!

      Think you’re right about that. He’s a solid wideout who helps us at his ceiling he’s just not very consistent and doesn’t help much blocking for DJ and the backs. Feel similar to how I did with RJ Garcia
