    I know you are probably self conscious to the background noise, etc. but honestly it’s part of what I love about your videos. Your secretary working in the background most of the year makes my heart smile. ❤ I’m sorry if any previous comments I’ve made have made you self conscious about it. Also…thank you for this video! I love your Tunisian crochet patterns!

      You are right that having it as soft steady background noise is quite pleasant. When I notice it, which isn’t all the time, I imagine all kinds of masterpieces being written.
      Added: I just realized what else it sounds like. A Newton’s cradle. Those things with the 5 metal balls that transfer energy to each other? They make a similar clacking sound. I love those things.

    What a cute project.
    Can I give you a hint on how to tie a bow? It is just like trying a square knot, right over left then left over right. After your half-knot, whichever side is coming over the top of your knot is the one that you make your loop with, and then bring the bottom end up and over the loop. That is a bow that will lie straight and not cock-eyed.

    Wow! What a cute bag! I might leave the ends open. Instead of needles, I'd put the end of my yarn through the hole so you could crochet without your yarn skein running away from you.

  • @samscatsandcrochet
    @samscatsandcrochet 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I want to make this, but add metal eyelets and use them for pulling yarn out.

  • @3rdand105

    I thought to myself at the end "She made a Victorian duffle bag." Who knew? You did a great job, which comes as a surprise to nobody who's been following you for any length of time. I can't imagine why on earth a person would want to let the pointy ends of the needles be exposed; if it were me, I would bury the points in the ball of yarn or skein, for everyone's protection. And just a heads up, knitting is only as difficult as the level you wish to be at. It can seem ridiculously simple at first (which is why many of us tend to overthink it), because you're only working with knits, purls, and yarn overs, for the most part. As you progress to the intermediate and advanced levels, there's definitely a level of education that few would expect, but the results are phenomenal. But that's just my opinion. Thank you for the video, looking forward to the next one!

      I still can’t knit after nearly fifty years of trying off and on. Crochet, no problem - done it for decades, no issues. But knitting always ends up as an uneven mess, and every time I drop a stitch I’m sunk, can’t recover it. For some reason I’ve never been able to get my head round it and it hasn’t been for lack of trying. Broken brain. It was knitting I started with too!

  • @catherinesommer3648

    You don't know how pleased I was to hear you say that you can't knit! I'm 83 and have been trying to learn to knit ever since I was 6. My fingers just can't do it, but crochet is so easy, even the most complicated stitches work for me. Poor motor coordination? You are the first person I've heard of who can crochet and not knit - I'm not alone!

    • @marabanara
      @marabanara 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same as me! I can knit, but my stitches are oriented differently because of how I was taught as a child by my grandmother and mother. This means nothing online matches that I can find. I’ve tried changing the way I do it but k just can’t get used to it. Whereas I have always loved crochet and don’t need to change a thing. So I only crochet! I will bust out some knitting if I need to.

    I started crocheting at the age of 9, in 1961. My instructors were received by aunts, my maternal & fraternal grandmothers, and a lady down the street.
    I started knitting at ten, in 1962. I really fell in love with this yarn art. My first project was a long raglan sleeve sweater with double cables down the center of the front & back, a single cable down the sleeves. I got a blue ribbon, held 15 place.
    I'm still knitting and crocheting. I am 72. My hope is that my yarn art continues through my after life.
    Thank you for continued instruction through You tube, Verda M. Glendale AZ.

    So fabulous to see one creator shout out to another and have it happen to be both I enjoy! What a great surprise! This made my day. Tunisian crochet is one of my favorites, I am in the process of making a sweater with it, no pattern. I'm a terrible knitter, yet I keep telling myself, one day I will just wake up and it won't feel so awkward lol. This sweater is less like crochet and more like knit they way it has to be built in panels, and it's really making my brain hurt. This video has been a lovely distraction

    Was it USPS? They do this to me all the time. I live in California. I once had a package come from somewhere on the East coast, made it to Cali in like two or three days. Sat in San Fran for two or three days. Then went to HAWAII!! Then it came BACK to SF several days later. Sat for days and days. Then went BACK TO HAWAII!!! I think I finally got it a week and a half later. It was almost a MONTH between the day it shipped and the day I got it. No reason was given. No apology. Just “well look into it” and then silence until it finally showed up.
    When I tell you I was LIVID!! I know it’s just stuff. But it’s the principle of it you know? UGH

      If you must blame the USPS, blame the Postmaster General Lois DeWit. He implemented directives when he came in a few years ago, such as leaving mail on the dock if everyone couldn't deliver it "in time", removing sorting machines, closing post offices, and such. The local Postmasters are trying their best with what they have to work with, but it hasn't been fun for anyone.

    I have tried this before, back in the 70s, when it was called afghan stitch crochet. I could never get past the first row. Turns out I wasn't catching the last "crochet" loops. Sine I knew no one who knew how to do this craft I just gave up. Thanks, Corinna. Time to try again. I wonder if that afghan hook is still in my mom's sewing room somewhere.

    I guess the problem you have learning knitting I probably have learning crochet. I managed to get to do Tunisian pretty well because it is basically like knit cast on and off/bind. And then I did manage to do fillet because it is just double crochets, but anything else ends up being too confusing for my poor 2 active neurons lol.
    If you don't know him already you should try learning knit with Norman from Nimble Needles, he is such a sweetheart and explain things simply and well, every time I don't remember how to do something or have any doubt on how to do something I just run to his channel.
