3985 was retired in the 50's. She sat on display for three decades. Then, in the 1980's, a group of Union Pacific employees returned her to steam. she joined 844 in the UP steam program.
Not all steamers were scrapped in the 50's. Several remained in the scrapyard until the late 1980's. However, most were scrapped by the 1960's. Several big mainline railroads kept using steam until 1958, 59, and 60. Today there are a little over 1,000 steam locomotives preserved in the USA. Several of those are operating today, either in tourist business or mainline excursions. the UP still has one steam locomotive on their active roster, never retired, UP 4-8-4 #844 still remains unretired!
3:40 AHHA! gotcha! you won't escape this time! 3:41 Oh SCRAP! I'm Outa Here! 3:45 Diesel: what the! Steam train : gain way! 4:17 Whoa! 4:23 Ha ha! 4:38 now to get out of here!
all the scrapyard shots were very surreal when i was younger, the steam effects and darkness made it really hard to see what was where. and im still very confusion to this day about the layout of this massive industry
Plan 3:change of plan save my girl friend 2 hide and sneak to get her 3 plan failed and I’m depressed 4 got couhgt 5 run 6 trick diesel 7 then died 8 run and hide
@Engineer5344 saving while he was hitched would've put #3124 at a risk as well. Honestly, if he had gotten there about 10 seconds earlier, he would've attempted the rescue.
He tried to save his friend but unfortunately it didn’t work..😥 but it least we get to see the rest of the adventure and I’m very grateful that you made these videos because as a child I always enjoyed watching them over and over again♥️🙏
actualy, they sat in the scrapyards for over a decade. They began scrapping as early as the 1930's and continued through the 1960's. Even today a few unlucky steamers get scrapped.
@lionelkid456 If you are referring to the engine @ 2:18, then that is a cho-nose GP9. These were built between 1954 and 1963, and are perfectly fine for the series.
If I had to guess, it's so that when around other engines, it looks like he's pulling a train. If he runs light, that would raise suspicion among diesels.
@Fireheart528 Sorry, but no. For a number of reasons: 1) I don't have the route anymore. It disappeared after a hard drive wipe. 2) The route really didn't have any operation potential. It was more of a film set than a layout. A lot of the tracks ended a few meters past the camera, and several didn't connect to any other tracks. 3) I don't remember who it making it, but there is a much better scrapyard route in development for Trainz. It is larger and has operation potential.
Dieselisation. At this point, diesel locomotives are solely working to get rid of steamers. Don't care WHICH railway you come from, if your a steamy, go F yourself. The real question here is why the Mohawk is pulling a full passenger train.
As for why 3124 was pulling passenger cars, it was probably so that it would look like he was pulling a train of some sort. If he were running light, it would look more suspicious.
@lionelkid456 TMTWQ takes place in the early 1960's. SD40-2s weren't introduced until 1972. I don't know what you're implying with this comment, but there are no SD40-2s in this video.
there's a problem with the Mohawk that wouldn't quit it just diesel going and scraping steam engines with out command what i mean is that u have to be withdrawn then u can be scraped but if a railway wants u then there's no use for scraping engines

Poor #19 may he rest in peace
Something tells me he will.
he will

I think it's safe to say it's only a matter of time before steam makes a comeback

Dafaq...
+Joseph Watts nice transcript i like the "gain way" part
Aljaz Skarlovnik
i was trying to add dialogue to it.
OH SCRAP! Haha!
all the scrapyard shots were very surreal when i was younger, the steam effects and darkness made it really hard to see what was where. and im still very confusion to this day about the layout of this massive industry

Mohawk: hmmmmm
Diesel: SUPRISE FRESH MEAT
Mohawk: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
3:44 Diesel 2: Hey! Watch where you going!
Plan 3:change of plan save my girl friend
2 hide and sneak to get her
3 plan failed and I’m depressed
4 got couhgt
5 run
6 trick diesel
7 then died
8 run and hide
3124: I have crippling depression but I'll carry on.
Love the part where 3124 is being chased on the tall bridge
@Engineer5344 saving while he was hitched would've put #3124 at a risk as well. Honestly, if he had gotten there about 10 seconds earlier, he would've attempted the rescue.
Subtitles would detract from the atmostphere of the film. I find it more effective to leave the storytelling to the camerawork, music, and SFX.
Awesome!
Love it the sound effects the explosions every thing of this storie is awsome!
He tried to save his friend but unfortunately it didn’t work..😥 but it least we get to see the rest of the adventure and I’m very grateful that you made these videos because as a child I always enjoyed watching them over and over again♥️🙏
again, very epic, my PC would crash with a route like this
You have done well, Aaron... You have done well!!
can we get ggs in the comments for the engine that died or press f to pay respects

EPIC! EXTREMELY EPIC! :O I'm Lovin' this series! Keep it up, Aaron :)
It's implied that 3124 left them in a siding, out of the way.
ronthecyborg was Pullman 19 like 3124’s brother?
actualy, they sat in the scrapyards for over a decade. They began scrapping as early as the 1930's and continued through the 1960's. Even today a few unlucky steamers get scrapped.
nice story I have enjoyed watching these videos!
The Mohawk kind of reminds me of hero the engine
so far this movie is getting real good
Yeah... R.I.P 19.
WE NEED TO ADAPT THESE INTO A MOVIE
god why did the steam engine have to die and when he was so close to
@daltonauto the route was built specifically for that scene.
@lionelkid456 If you are referring to the engine @ 2:18, then that is a cho-nose GP9. These were built between 1954 and 1963, and are perfectly fine for the series.
2:18
Great Work Dude
I like this movie
Question: why does he still have the cars or coaches, doesn't that add weight to him by pulling them
If I had to guess, it's so that when around other engines, it looks like he's pulling a train. If he runs light, that would raise suspicion among diesels.
Maybe the coaches are sentient too and he’s taking them away.
i just saw # 19 get pulled back i didnt see him get scrapped
yes but the affect is there that 19 was scrapped
Finally managed to track down these videos
3:40
HEY THEIRS A STEMI
F*CK IM GETTING OUT OF HERE
@MASON1246 The first GP38s were built in 1966, three years after TMTWQ takes place.
@Fireheart528 Sorry, but no. For a number of reasons:
1) I don't have the route anymore. It disappeared after a hard drive wipe.
2) The route really didn't have any operation potential. It was more of a film set than a layout. A lot of the tracks ended a few meters past the camera, and several didn't connect to any other tracks.

@turbo1431 actually your wrong, but I'm removing your comment to avoid spoilers.
Not to nitpick but how did Mohawk turn around when he was being chased by the F7
Suspension of Disbelief, possibly.
@TheNw1218 The Cyan flash & white light was #19 getting scrapped
4:09 is that a horn? Or an instrument
That's horn
kind of reminds me of unstoppable
What is the name of the tender on the Mohawk, because i can't find it on the DLS.
+Pendennis Castle Tender NYC Mohawk LOD.
Thwomp Whompson I made that comment ages ago so i know now.
I was just reminding :) I modified the NYC Mohawk.
@@serpentstudios7768 do u know the whistle kuid of the mowhak used in this,bc i asume u have it?
I reconize that music at the begin credits. Its from ace combat 4 or 5 (Hangar) or (shop)
No they were scrapped in '50s. I watch videos saying alll steamers were scrapped in 1950. :(
@ronthecyborg but there was a sd40-2 in the scrapyard? and steam engines were scrapped in 1950.Not 1960.
Poor 19.......
Why was a NYC Diesel chasing the Mohawk near the end? I mean they come from the same railway shouldn't they be friends of some kind?
Dieselisation.
At this point, diesel locomotives are solely working to get rid of steamers. Don't care WHICH railway you come from, if your a steamy, go F yourself.
The real question here is why the Mohawk is pulling a full passenger train.
MrDalek2150 it's because the diesel want all the steam engines out business and this takes place during the time of the end of steam
As for why 3124 was pulling passenger cars, it was probably so that it would look like he was pulling a train of some sort. If he were running light, it would look more suspicious.
@@TheNWClassA1218 also it’s possible the coaches were sentient too and he was rescuing them
this part is so sad
Yup! :D

Ok and don't forget 3985!!

I can't find that reply comment i got when i said what is the tender so could someone tell me again what the name of the tender is?
Tender NYC Mohawk LOD
TheDavis2211 Thanks.
this is some pretty good shit
what? its a good movie
yup it is
*dabs*
Poor steamer (one that died)....What'd he do wrong?
+Owen Meschter nothing why would the diesels do that they could just tell that the mohawk can go with it's close friend.
I guess.
The diesels are going to be in lots of trouble (not the switchers).
maybe.
+Owen Meschter one day I will upload the S&A 750 Excursion That Wouldn't Quit! It will make into highland valley in the hills.
there's a problem with the Mohawk that wouldn't quit it just diesel going and scraping steam engines with out command
what i mean is that u have to be withdrawn then u can be scraped but if a railway wants u then there's no use for scraping engines
THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS SD40-2'S IN 1950!?! >:( (i don't mean to be rude>)
@ronthecyborg Well then, you did one hell of a nice job!
@ronthecyborg oops! sorry i though it was an sd40-2.:) Great video anyway!
@imagreatbigman yes he did (#19 Did)
how come he didn't save the 19?, awsome video otherwise.
Bc he didn't save him bc hie die
@ronthecyborg oh ok
