Since I started listening to Hamradun Pól became one of my favourites vocalist ever. I've heard him before with Týr but never tought that he has such a amazing and charming voice
lyrics :) I hope that without mistakes, because I typed it from CD :) SNÆBJØRN Snæbjørn vaknar jóladag, nú vetur komin er. Men, fútanum gav eg banasár, teir friðleysan gjørdu meg. Jagstraður maður í oynni var eg, men teir fáa meg ei, í holum og rókum eg goyma meg vil. Eg frælsur føddur føroyingur var, frælsur føroyingur var. Tiðliga á morgni ein bátur horvin var í neystagrund. Flýddur út av Skálamol, farvæl mítt land, mítt fljóð, mítt barn, Snæbjørn farin er.
Have a listen to "Johnny o' Braidislea" by The Corries. This is clearly a very old melody - but did it travel down from the Faroes or north from Scotland?
Hello Anne! I just had a chat with Pól Arni, and it was indeed his idea to use the Johnny o' Braidislea melody, although not 100% note for note in our case. In the album it is credited as "scottish folk melody" or something like that.
A farmhand from Hvalba called Snæbjørn was sentenced to four-years hard labour on Bremerholm for having bought scarves from an illegal trading ship. Not surprisingly, Snæbjørn was dissatisfied with the judgment and tried to kill the judge, but instead he struck the sheriff so hard that he died. He escaped from the Thing, and lived for many years as an outlaw in the mountains in Suðuroy.

Does anyone know where I can find lyrics to 'Snæbjørn'? I would also be pleased, if someone gave me some background information about this song :)
have you found it? I'll be pleased too

Are those the lyrics? Don't you have them in the original language?
I'm looking for them for quite a long time too. The above is the story behind the song, an old legend from Suðuroy.
The lyrics are posted in reply to another comment. 😁
