Hey I was forced to get up every Xmas at 4 am to watch my brother open his 800 presents and get smacked around and yelled at by my mother for not acting happy for her my step dad and brother for their gifts. Every year I ruined Xmas apparently because sitting there with no gifts (I would be given Costco toilet paper, a toothbrush, tooth paste, an orange, and lipstick 10 shades to dark for me because and I quote I would be so pretty if I just brushed my teeth and hair as well as wore make up.) my entire life my mother told me how ugly, obese (at 30 I was 109 lbs all muscle technically anorexic and I was still morbidly obese) and how my teeth were yellow because I never brushed them (she broke the flap in my throat strangling me at 8 years old so I always have stomach acid In my mouth eroding the enamel so now only dentin shows threw so my teeth look yellow ish) and I never worse make up (she was very bronze I was always sickly pale she wanted me to wear HER make up thus looking like a orange clown with flaming red rouge cheeks, not to mention she kept my hair shorter than most boys because she hated it long (everyone thought I was a boy in drag until I got away from her. Now she was abusive is many even worse ways but every Xmas for 27 years it was 12 hours straight of being yelled at hit told I was ugly and fat and disgusting and I was ruining Xmas for everyone because I was spoiled (again only given toilet paper and teeth cleaning stuff a orange and clown makeup essentially for my mother.) No one believes my brother because he has a disability and she convinced them he is mentally a 2 year old (he is just a grown man who can’t speak from a stroke with motor skill issues his mind and brain is completely normal at the lowest he is mentally a 20 year old.) no one even knew he could read or spell they treated him like a idiot because mother said he was. I never really realized until I was 30 her favoritism towards him making me hate him and trying to mentally stunt him was also a form of abuse. She may have given him the world financially but she took much of his life away like she did to me. Essentially now I’m too traumatized to function I was use to living in my small room never leaving and that’s all I can do now. A 167 iq all gone to waist from all the trauma and my brother was eventually dumped in a group home and gets to live his life in a small room too. Only difference is he’s a millionaire from my mom and he gets fancy electronics. Not much of a life for either of us I must say but at least I’m the end we have each other and we are super close now and no one can take that away from us anymore. Long story short every has some pain in their life and my life only started to heal when I had to cut all contact with everything and everyone I knew except my brother. I had to release the bad people in my life and get lots of counseling to finally become a functioning human being not be ruled by my past and ptsd. Sometimes we have to walk away from everything to finally free ourselves and find out who we are and our happiness.
@Morgan Stark 💙 I appreciate your kind thoughts. Because of my mother and a few other reasons I can’t have children. I wanted to very badly but she made sure that would never be an option for me. Yet another issue I have been trying to work threw and accept. I’m sure I’ll be okay it’s just a lot of loss and pain to work threw. Sometimes it creeps back up and it’s hard for a few days. I will say I’m a million times better than I was when I was when she was in my life. I do miss her but I absolutely do not miss her behavior. I think that is the most complicated part of it all lol.

Part of the reason why I wanted to become a police officer because I thought I could help kids who were in my situation they would be believed. Unfortunately my mom made that dream impossible for me by doing very bad things to me so bad it gave me such bad ptsd I can hardly work a job or be around people without panicking. At least now I have a chance since I finally am able just to work on myself and no longer have her constant input into my life.
I am beyond words sorry that your mother did that to you but I think in all honesty maybe you were a representation of something that she hated and she only did what she did because she felt that treating you horribly was the only way she could cope. Hits close to home. I have a lazy, violent father. And I renounced the holidays at 14. Still have to be my own lawyer. Still have to defend my right to say "It's not any more Easter for me than it is Chinese New Year for YOU". I asked my mom when I was little "If Christmas has pagan influences, why do we celebrate it?" Her response: "We're forced to". NOBODY has tried to shove it down my throat like her. The more you hate it the more she wants to put it in your face. My aunt would send my brother and I gifts every year, mostly because it was the socially acceptable thing to do. Mom would tell her to get us things SHE wanted us to get, whether we did or not. Told her to send board games because SHE wanted us to play them, despite us being tired of them, and getting older and wanting to go out and about more. Her big threat was "If YOU'RE not doing Christmas anymore, I'M gonna tell your aunt not to send you a gift (with an "I'm so right you're so wrong, ha-ha!" kind of look she gives)" I said "Go ahead. It's just material things" She said "Oh, YOU'VE got PROBLEMS! YOU need HELP!" Way to win me over, 'ma! I went no contact with her 8 years ago. I would go no contact with my father but I am afraid of what he'll do to me.
Ah, Christmas. Story 5: in my family, Christmas celebrations didn't start until I cried. My father was angry the whole day than he took his rage out on me. I’m someone with distrust issues. And it can become very severe when I’m in a bad mood. But I do agree the husband was out of line. when I went to a shelter to adopt my dog (saw her picture on the shelter's web site and fell in love with her) she gave me the absolute best welcome I had ever gotten. This is why I prefer Halloween instead. I mean, my parents loved spoiling us with stockings, presents and all the glut that we could ever stuff our mouthes with, but really when you get down to it, it was never about having a "Hallmark" anything. It was about love for one another, and we do love one another nowadays. Unfortunately, the whole idea that "everything has to be perfect or I'll get upset and be a total b*tch to you" kind of attitude is too common in our society and as a result a lot of us take pleasure of, instead, enjoying holidays that are drawn as "Demonic" er whatever, to show our teeth and scare the living hell out of those moronic zealots. That's why I consider, along with many people, for Halloween to be the de facto holiday for ourselves. Carving pumpkins, giving out big ol' treat bags chock full of candy, putting up spooky decor, wearing masks and costumes, making people laugh and enjoying the fun things in life instead of making people feel guilty that they aren't enjoying it. They ARE enjoying it, the decor, the costumes, even the candy! Just because we aren't shoving it down their throats in fistfuls doesn't mean they're not enjoying it. Fun is like trust. You need to be trustworthy in order to earn trust, you need to be fun and inviting in order to be fun. And being guilt-tripping and hurtful is NOT fun. For anyone. We are growing giant @$$ pumpkins this year. They're already sprouting and should be ready in mid-October. Once they are, I'm gonna carve the most sinister grins on all of them AND I'm gonna get a BOOMBOX that I can pair to my phone so I can listen to Hellfire by MDK and Skrillex until 7 PM every single day leading up to Halloween and until 9 on Halloween. Sorry but I disagree. They are together for 9 years, almost a decade! He is clearly in the wrong here, and if he has the need to stalk her in all places she goes, he is not ready for a relationship again. He should seek therapy and work on it. He can have all the insecurities ever, it doesn't justify his behaviour. I think is still worth to talk about it, but the priority should be if she is willing to keep things up like this. It’s sad because I always loved her I just hated her behavior and since when I was growing up they didn’t have the technology they do now I could never prove the gaslighting the abuse or the physical damage she did to me. No one believes my brother because he has a disability and she convinced them he is mentally a 2 year old (he is just a grown man who can’t speak from a stroke with motor skill issues his mind and brain is completely normal at the lowest he is mentally a 20 year old.) no one even knew he could read or spell they treated him like a idiot because mother said he was. I never really realized until I was 30 her favoritism towards him making me hate him and trying to mentally stunt him was also a form of abuse. She may have given him the world financially but she took much of his life away like she did to me. Essentially now I’m too traumatized to function I was use to living in my small room never leaving and that’s all I can do now. A 167 iq all gone to waist from all the trauma and my brother was eventually dumped in a group home and gets to live his life in a small room too. Only difference is he’s a millionaire from my mom and he gets fancy electronics. Not much of a life for either of us I must say but at least I’m the end we have each other and we are super close now and no one can take that away from us anymore.
Long story short every has some pain in their life and my life only started to heal when I had to cut all contact with everything and everyone I knew except my brother. I had to release the bad people in my life and get lots of counseling to finally become a functioning human being not be ruled by my past and ptsd. Sometimes we have to walk away from everything to finally free ourselves and find out who we are and our happiness.

@Morgan Stark 💙 I appreciate your kind thoughts. Because of my mother and a few other reasons I can’t have children. I wanted to very badly but she made sure that would never be an option for me. Yet another issue I have been trying to work threw and accept. I’m sure I’ll be okay it’s just a lot of loss and pain to work threw. Sometimes it creeps back up and it’s hard for a few days. I will say I’m a million times better than I was when I was when she was in my life. I do miss her but I absolutely do not miss her behavior. I think that is the most complicated part of it all lol.
@@sethzz-wx5cb I have tried when I was younger but unfortunately when your a kid and your mother is such a master manipulator (so good she made a nationally recognized career out of selling companies training for their employees teaching them how to manipulate customers into buying things or doing things) you don’t get heard instead it gets flipped around and you become the problem. Part of the reason why I wanted to become a police officer because I thought I could help kids who were in my situation they would be believed. Unfortunately my mom made that dream impossible for me by doing very bad things to me so bad it gave me such bad ptsd I can hardly work a job or be around people without panicking. At least now I have a chance since I finally am able just to work on myself and no longer have her constant input into my life.
I am beyond words sorry that your mother did that to you but I think in all honesty maybe you were a representation of something that she hated and she only did what she did because she felt that treating you horribly was the only way she could cope. Either way I know that it is hard to say it but hopefully if anything you’ve moved past and tried to find some peace because myself I couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened if I’d be in an abused situation as a kid because me I would’ve at least slapped her but she seems like she would’ve killed you if you even swore at her or even defended yourself. I hope for everything your future becomes better and even though that it may be dark as there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I asked my mom when I was little "If Christmas has pagan influences, why do we celebrate it?" Her response: "We're forced to". NOBODY has tried to shove it down my throat like her. The more you hate it the more she wants to put it in your face. My aunt would send my brother and I gifts every year, mostly because it was the socially acceptable thing to do. Mom would tell her to get us things SHE wanted us to get, whether we did or not. Told her to send board games because SHE wanted us to play them, despite us being tired of them, and getting older and wanting to go out and about more. Her big threat was "If YOU'RE not doing Christmas anymore, I'M gonna tell your aunt not to send you a gift (with an "I'm so right you're so wrong, ha-ha!" kind of look she gives)" I said "Go ahead. It's just material things" She said "Oh, YOU'VE got PROBLEMS! YOU need HELP!" Way to win me over, 'ma! I went no contact with her 8 years ago. I would go no contact with my father but I am afraid of what he'll do to me.

I’m someone with distrust issues. And it can become very severe when I’m in a bad mood. But I do agree the husband was out of line. Which makes me think he’s not insecure and that he’s lying about it. When I don’t trust someone I’m * especially when in a bad mood* I’m usually very upfront about and try to be as nice as possible. This is why I prefer Halloween instead. I mean, my parents loved spoiling us with stockings, presents and all the glut that we could ever stuff our mouthes with, but really when you get down to it, it was never about having a "Hallmark" anything. It was about love for one another, and we do love one another nowadays. Unfortunately, the whole idea that "everything has to be perfect or I'll get upset and be a total b*tch to you" kind of attitude is too common in our society and as a result a lot of us take pleasure of, instead, enjoying holidays that are drawn as "Demonic" er whatever, to show our teeth and scare the living hell out of those moronic zealots.
That's why I consider, along with many people, for Halloween to be the de facto holiday for ourselves. Carving pumpkins, giving out big ol' treat bags chock full of candy, putting up spooky decor, wearing masks and costumes, making people laugh and enjoying the fun things in life instead of making people feel guilty that they aren't enjoying it. They ARE enjoying it, the decor, the costumes, even the candy! Just because we aren't shoving it down their throats in fistfuls doesn't mean they're not enjoying it.
Fun is like trust. You need to be trustworthy in order to earn trust, you need to be fun and inviting in order to be fun. And being guilt-tripping and hurtful is NOT fun. For anyone.
We are growing giant @$$ pumpkins this year. They're already sprouting and should be ready in mid-October. Sorry but I disagree. They are together for 9 years, almost a decade! He is clearly in the wrong here, and if he has the need to stalk her in all places she goes, he is not ready for a relationship again. He should seek therapy and work on it. He can have all the insecurities ever, it doesn't justify his behaviour. I think is still worth to talk about it, but the priority should be if she is willing to keep things up like this. But I might be biased because I hate jealousy. To me it is nightmare cause I suffered a lot towards jealousy and wasn't even on romantic relationships.
