Touching and moving! You made me realize just how much we rely on our boots to be there for us in our times of need. Just went and gave my boots a hug and told them how much I appreciate all the hard work they do for me.
A touching ballad Dallas. My old pair of SG12s have served me so well since 2017. Despite the outstanding build quality, they're finally starting to fall apart from all the abuse and neglect they've suffered. So why is it that I cant let them go? I have a shiny new pair in the cupboard but I keep saying "I'll just get one more ride out of the old ones".
In the article in the e-rag that brought me here, you mentioned (thank you) the widths typical of various brands. I would like to add the toe box HEIGHT as an important parameter. Many people have toes that curl up, and are most comfortable in boots like lil' Abner's, with raised toes. This is an un-fashionable look, so many boots have low toes. Your toenails may turn black and even fall out unless you trim them to the quick before every ride. A-stars is best in this regard.
good point, same issue with ski boots and i'm glad that dirt bike boots are now maturing. There should be more simplicity, durability, and shapes available for boots
I can't say I fostered such a relationship with my Sidi Crossfire II TA's....Although they have crossed the US with me and did save my feet, ankles & shins several times, I feel they only did it out of duty, not because they liked me 🤔 I traded $500 of my dollars for them two seasons ago because they were the only premium boot I could find that fit. The uppers started coming apart in the first few rides. After a fight with Sidi they sent replacement parts which I reinforced on the rebuild, then the toe guards started coming off, then the buckles... I limped them through two seasons but now the ankle pivot is coming lose. I'm moving on to try and find a new enduro foot friend. I'm house breaking-in... a new pair of Forma Predator 2.0 boots now. These guys seem to be levels of quality better than the Sidi's ....I hope they last and like me, love can come later .... 😶
Cool idea! PS: In November while riding a little private Enduro Rallye in Italy something hit my left shin. Few moments later I had it already forgotten. Thanks to my trusty Gaerne SG12. We can‘t thank our boots enough!
A beautiful video from Le Grand Fromage. Gaerne are the boots for me due to my wide feet. Expensive, but worth every cent and then some.
Dammit Dallas you've done it again. What a great vid and your voice always gets me. Nice work.
Came here straight from your newsletter. Great video of an unsung hero.
Much same bruv
Thank you Lorry! Our boots are often taken for granted, plus I needed to squirt out some art for relief.
@ awesome video, very creative and shows the products we rely on to keep us safe from a different perspective.

Heh heh. I COMPLETELY understand wringing the last drops out of things. Rural poverty does that...
We should have the Festival of the Boot :-). A great discussion though on the different types and brand of boots to try before you buy.
My tech 7 I bought in 17 are still working great. Have replaced the sole 5 times.
That's some milage there.
A poet you are , wonderfully read ,,, 🙏
Thanks Jaime!

I had no idea! Thank you. I'm going to check out the Abner's out of curiosity.

We've ridden Forma's for years. The only complaint is that the Predator is a bit heavy. They stood up to the abuse and protected feet so all good.
Wow... 😢 ❤
Well done 🥾

They are so good we take them for granted.
very nice!
Alpinestars tech5... Carry me all over the Balkans... ❤
I have a hard time letting go of old boots too, Shoe Goo and Tough Toe are your friends!
I've got a shoe goo and duct tape collection that would make a cobblers head spin.
I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!
That's dust in my eyes! 🏍️💨
Lovely work. Getting all emotional.
