    this ain't new. Happened to punk/metal, happened to garage, happened to grime, happened to road rap - and now it's UK Drill. In 10 years it'll be something else. The music ain't the cause, it's a symptom. We need to stop looking at youts creatively getting themselves off the streets and look at what caused them to make this music to begin with - i.e poverty, lack of social services, youth centres, education etc. Is it easier to just ""ban"" the music? Sure. Are you fixing anything? No.

    • @moscokidd3813
      @moscokidd3813 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Real talk! You said it! "Symptom" people need to stop being so short sighted with this issue.... truth is they dont care enough to examine the real cause

      100% agree. The problem with PC culture right here. Bringing the ban hammer to anything they can point the finger at. Meanwhile not having the slightest sodding clue. The left is fine just beware of the authoritarian side of that politics. NEVER ACCEPT IT. Laugh them out of whatever position of power they hold.

    • @Madbrad2000
      @Madbrad2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure why you're making this a political issue. This has been going on through both conservative and labour governments.
      edit: The problem is not wanting to fix the problems for various reasons. It has nothing to do with PC culture (although yes, the tabloids do get outraged).

    • @yeahyeah4433
      @yeahyeah4433 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Truth right here, they look at whats presented on the media and blame it as an excuse for being shit at controlling the people, its like saying some gay ass diss track is causing violence because its getting a reaction, but its just a lot more intense and real, just another example of the government trying to silence peoples suffering, they don't want these kids to get out of ends, or show what its like on the street because it shows the governments failure to keep the law.

    • @DMXhill

  • @SirAmicVarze

    Stupid to blame the music for the violence. The violent content of the music is because it reflects their lived experiences, not because the music itself is causing the violence. This is just the latest round of pearl clutching by people who are out of touch.

      Music makes you feal emotional.I disagree it's relatively new and is a way which is like traditional gangster hip hop on steroids ever since uk drill became popular the crime rate increases explain that.It reflects a way of life that is ignorant and morally wrong.And young people are very impressional.Of course other factors such as poverty and your cultural background come into play.

    Art reflects reality. Just like how Basquiat art always did. They tried to blame grime back in the day which basically led to the end of so solid crew but grime is too big a target now so they are are moving on to drill. They even had a law in place the "696" that would target grime but now they had to scrap it because over time it became obviously apparent that it was statically racist. Go listen to the Marilyn Monroes of the world and slipknots and many rock bands lyrics are bordering on being sadistic but they never go after them. Furthermore, You almost can't live in an area or an environment like Brixton and start rapping about going to the farm and riding horses and drinking tea whilst watching the sun go down... It's just not realistic ...

    • @Madbrad2000
      @Madbrad2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      " They tried to blame grime back in the day which basically led to the end of so solid crew"
      You're thinking of UK Garage. They did indeed blame garage for violence and it hurt as a result. The blame towards grime would come later. So Solid were a UK Garage crew.

    Drill how I see it only increases violence between rival gangs, they diss each other get a lot of views and it's online and everyone is adding their input just adds fuel to the fire. The days when there was no youtube guys must have been dissing each other joining group chats and shit but I don't see most guys being bothered to join that it's long

    I'm from the US. I recently took a trip to London & went down to Brixton. One of the locals told me that the area I ended up in was the UK equivalent of American projects, and I was like "Really?". Compared to US housing projects (particularly in NY, Chicago & Los Angeles), UK estates are actually really nice & well kept.

    Drill is the new punk rock culture of the 90's, but rather than drugs and alcohol, it's violence. At least most punk rock heads make it past 30

    Take a page out of South Park's book. The fastest way to get rid of a certain element of youth culture is for parents to encourage it and participate in it. No kid would listen to drill if his mum and dad were dancing to it in the living room. Alternatively the mums could get together to write their own drill about cooking meals, doing the dishes, etc.

    Drill isn't a cause of violence, true. However, it definitely incites people to be more violent to develop an image of themselves as drillers and it would be incredibly ignorant to say otherwise. I say that as someone who listens to drill on a daily

    What people don’t understand is that in areas where the drill music is from obviously it’s not increasing violence or influencing people because it already happens there. But I come from and area where there used to be almost 0 crime but I feel that the kids listening to this have genuinely been influenced as crime rates are increasing rapidly
