hello CrazyHorseAvatar thanks for the question. yes Jirels are Kiratis. we are proud to be member of Kirat familiy. It is now known that Jirels are one of the many Kirati descendants. Jirels are offshoots/branch of ancient Kirat people. According to the Jirel legend, a brother living around Ramechhap district are called Hayu, another brother living in and around Jiri and Suri are known as Jirel and Surel respectively. Another brother living in Likhu Khimti are called Sunuwar. A brother living in Bhojpur and around are known by Rai and the brother living in the far eastern region are called Limbu. But the fact is they are all the brothers from same mother. According to the Surel legends, their forefathers were 5 brothers among whom eldest was the Surel and where as the youngest was the Hayu. Second was the Limbu and third was the Rai and fourth was the Sunuwar. The descendants of these 5 brothers gradually evolved their own individual characteristics and languages. I hope you and all Nepali people will now realize that Jirels are kiratis. we are proud to be brothers of rai and limbu people. I am so happy to see alisha rai and rajesh rai performance. I hope more kirati will enter nepali media and music industry.
@ dilip jirel i am with you. Kiratis was the first caretaker of the Pashupatinath temple. But after Malla King came to power, Indian brahmins been the caretaker of the temple and temple trust fund. So for last 600 years, Indian brahmins have stole gold silver and money and took it to India. We never see development of the Pashupatinath temple and its vicinity. why is Nepali people letting indian brahmins to be the caretaker and priest of Pashupatinath temple? Is the Pashupatinath temple property of India? You see Buddha Subba and Manakamna has no Indian brahmins. so what do you people think about the issue of replacing indian brahmins with kirati at the Pashupatinath temple? Afterall Pashupatinath temple has its origin back to Kirat time. Kiratis was the first caretaker of the Pashupatinath temple.
