Thanks Mike appreciated buddy, actually I was really surprised how much I loved it! I think for a bike to actually live with its my favourite naked! Certainly a marry 😍
How does it feel now that m1000r with its shiftcam engine is only $270 more than s1000r with premium and m packages while basically having everything from those packages and then some more? 🤣 S1000R with the premium package alone for sure still makes more sense if someone wants to save some money and doesn't care about that extra power. I guess we'll see how they tune the M since SRR is lower than SR on torque and power until higher revs. They said they retuned it for the street.
Hi Mr chopsy I'm contemplating one of these I'm lucky to have a few bikes one of which is a gen 2.1 ktm sdgt I'm thinking of changing in your opinion Would that be a good change or is the ktm a better bike to keep its a 2020 fully loaded with only 2500 miles on it Im tempted help please 😆
BMW Dealer thought I was nuts yesterday when I told him im not a fan of electronic suspension as it dulls the feeling and feedback from the road surface! Thanks for agreeing with that. Tried the latest 1250r and 1250rs and although the 1250r felt better it still lacks the feel and was a poor initial response on the throttle... I'm trying the S1000R next week, let's see how it compares to the visceral feeling of my now-gone R9T and my current z900rs. Great review as always my Man...
Totally with you on the in-line 4s. It’s like you two bikes in one- the perfect town bike and the perfect sports bike. The engines always feel track-able as they love to be revved and they go bonkers when you do. Something we’ll soon wave good-bye to when we only have electric only torque monsters.
I love the tone of the inline 4, I had a Tracer 9 and that's a triple that sounds nice as well, had a VFR which has a V4 another nice tone, ain't had a twin and don't want one.
Absolutely Long term test the S1000R. I’m with you on the inline 4s, I have a V4 and an inline 4, like the v4 sound but prefer the tractability and power rush of the inline 4
exactly why I ride the XR as a daily rider, for about 30k kms a year, year round, Brussels area. Had a GS as a loner when the XR was in for its 60000 service (valves!), and couldn't be a happier guy when i got back on the XR. Big grin on the face after every ride! I would suggest getting the XR as a long term loner, especiaaly if you are going to ride in the wet and the cold.
Thanks for posting. BMW switched from Brembo to Hayes. After a massive recall, they switched again from Hayes to Nissin. Now it looks like they switched again to the Brembo (at least for the R. The RR is still Nissin for 22. don't know about the 23)
Great review as ever chopsy. Jealous of your weather down South !! Bought a 2019 , 701 nearly three weeks ago and it's been blooming pouring down here in West of Scotland since 🙁🙁 id keep the garage build till the winter if I was you .Cheers .
The 2023 M1000R has the new front end. It looks amazing. Try for one of those for a loaner. Wasn't thinking of changing my bike, straight to AT after watching.
I picked up my Sport version Jul 21 and it was a great bike, I added some mods, mirrors, windshield, bought sw-motech panniers and did some longer trips. Everything was great, loved the no maintenance chain, it lasted for almost 20k km. In Aug 22 after 18k km everything changed, there were always some vibrations on handlebar and it wasn't an issue but after 18k km vibrations intensified intensified to the level my fingers go numb after hour or two of riding. All the pleasure is gone, service says it's normal, it's not for me, now 23k on odo and all I think is to get rid of the bike :(
4 months into ownership an 4000 miles done. Love it , traded in a 2017 MT10SP. 3 major differences, much better fuel figures , better tire life, but yes, the low down grunt is missing compared with the Yamaha. That most probably explains the better tire life. Have to get my rear wheel cush drives replaced as a lot of play in the rear sprocket. Seems to be an issue with the forged wheels. Have the Dynamic Pro so engine braking , wheelie control, abs and traction control can be all altered for the road, which is great. All in all a great bike to ride.
How is the fuel consumption on this ( bmw ) compared to mt 10 ? How much MPG or l/100 km you get from the bmw in city ? I'm interested , but i dont know if is worth the swap .
@sileniu way better ! On my mt you'd be lucky to to 35 mpg then when giving it stick about 25 mpg . With the bmw if the weather is poor and taking it easy I'm seeing 48mpg lowest I've seen is 38mpg. I'm about to flash the ecu and remap it so expecting those figures to drop a bit.
Great review Chopsy!! I just bought an S1000R in black with m billet package and carbon package. An early 60th birthday present to myself!! I owned a 2017 S1000RR and loved it!! 🖤
My friend has an HP4, he keeps it in his conservatory, it's just a delicious machine, we went to the Nurburgring before covid hit a few years ago, riding a bike worth over 40k on the green hell ........👍👍👍👍👍
Great video! I have the s1000r on order for early next year so I’m soaking up all the s1000r content I can till then and this was one the best vids I’ve seen of late. 👍
Hi I agree with all your comments on the 1000r ,I have a 2022 model identical to the one you are on with same extra bits and having owend and still do other nakeds amongst my bikes find this bike is by far the nicest all round naked ,I have fitted bar risers which take the weight off your wrists which make it even better it's a real keeper !! Hang on I have just seen a picture of the new M 1000r with shift cam o dear ??
I have to agree with you about the S1000R lacking a wee bit at the bottom end, I've been considering changing from my Street triple RS so have been taking a few bikes out to test and loved the 1000R and the only minor criticism was the power low down, I had the same problem with my RS but only after two mates bought a new Monster and a KTM 890R both of which nailed my RS up to about 60 to 70 mph, the Street Triple is much stronger at the top end but on a naked middleweight it's practically impossible to take advantage of the top end without a fairing, so I put in a rear sprocket with two extra teeth and problem solved the Monster and 890R now lag behind the RS, so I've no doubt the same thing or even a front sprocket with one tooth less would really perk up the S1000R.
Great vid mate, what a ripper bike. Recently purchased a 2022 z900 would love to see your review. To me it’s a capable fast bike I can only imagine what a ‘real’ super naked is like
Local shop let me ride the almost same bike (ok some what weird no Brembro) for a few hours but with limited rpm because it hadnt done 500kms im assuming or maybe i could not be trusted. So i didnt get the feel of what the bike could really do. I do recall how good the brakes were, it really stood out. They were better than my Brembros on my R1200R by a long way. Yea quick shifter was glorious. Nice revisit for sure.
Love this video very accurate got my 22 s model in June this year px r1200rs in for her love the single R the in line 4 is awesome 😎 did you work out Dynamic Pro rider Mode you can dial the bike in and you get the pop back through exhaust ,you need to set it up before it appears as a option
Sure enjoyed your vlog Chopsie , that was a cool town you road through at the end . Yes a long term review would be good with some track time and panniers mounted . Learned alot about this special Beemer .
I love my Gen2. I have had it for over 5 years now, and while BMW are producing a front end like on the Gen3, then I will be in no rush to change. For me it was a travesty that BMW did not put the shift cam onto the Gen3. But looks like they have learnt that lesson with the up and coming M version.
I'm starting to consider replacing my 2018 MT-10 with a S1000R, but I'm wondering about the riding position on the bike, compared to the MT-10 which I really like. Any thoughts ? Thanks
Loved this one haha, you clearly had a blast! I test rode a 2021 S1000RR earlier this year and one of the stand out features was it had the smoothest throttle response/fueling I've ever felt on any bike, especially in the transition from off/on. Way smoother than my 2019 Speed Triple RS, which is a bit snatchy in the off/on transition, but not as snatchy as my previous 2005 Sprint ST 1050, you needed surgical precision to open the throttle smoothly on that thing! 😅
This is the the dilemma I'm in currently. I own a Tracer 900 GT and a 890 Duke R and I'm looking for something that combines both bikes for fun and touring. I was looking at the S1000R but the Mt10 SP with some soft panniers is probably the ultimate touring / fun bike for the money. The XR I think is to big for me personally.
@@CharlieboySLONDON agree mate, I currently own an mt10 sp and for smiles per mile nothing has come close. Iv owned loads of traditional inline fours over the years and they are great but can lack little bit of character. Iv also owned a tuono v4 and that was something special but fell back into the Japanese safety net!
@@benrideout9583 what year SP do you have ? I've been looking at 2018 and newer , I'd love a 22 but not sure if my funds will stretch with all the bits I need for touring.
Have owned one now for three months. Love it. Best bike I have ever owned. If you get one on long term loan I think you will end up buying it. 😂 ( plenty of room in the new garage.)
I was surprised the RR had better bottom end, should have had the same profile as the lower cam profile to give it the bottom end grunt at the expense of the top end as it is 30 hp less, I see the M1000R will have the shift cam and the power of the current RR, that will be the one to have as your longtermer.
Having ridden one, I felt bar risers would keep it aggressive and speedy, yet make it easier on the hands and wrists, and make it a relaxed run around. Fast enough to freak yourself out, but good for everyday bumbling and fun.
Interesting reevaluation on this bike Chops, …but you have missed out some vital information 1, Tank range to reserve light 2, Rough mpg figure 3, What’s the windblast like on a 70 + mph motorway cruise Please see if you can include this information on future vids, ..if you can’t work out the mpg, I’m sure Greg will help you with the maths 😉😂!!
I can understand where you are coming from with this machine Chops. I myself prefer a in-line four engine for the road. That screaming engine sounds so fast when you hear them flying past. The BMW is a bike that I have had on my shortlist for a while now......maybe one day...lol Great review and awesome camera work Chops , nice job 👍
Please do get a long termer, please, pretty please. I’m really interested if you could fit some luggage as you’re saying. Looking forward to this if it happens.
@@LambChopRides Hey chops, mind if I asked you a question? I am currently thinking about a new bike, and the final two are the new MT-10SP, or the Kawa Z H2 SE. I have ridden them both and I still don't know haha. What's your take on this?
@@RutgerSmets yeah tough one that Rutger... I've not ridden the new MT10 so speaking based on the old one. I think the MT will be more fun, the Z is brilliant but a bit big and heavy but a fabulous bike.. Nether are lookers so not much between them there. I would say Z for more comfortable sensible motorcycle and MT for a fun blast machine. Hope that helps!
@@LambChopRides Yeah that makes sense, thanks! It pretty much boils down to wether the MT-10 is comfy enough, or the Z H2 fun enough in the twisties. What a world we are living in when we are calling a supercharged 1000cc the sensible choice, when you think about it hahaha
Great to have a Chopsy video in the morning 👍 I like to have some weight on my wrists, I always want to feel what the front tyre's doing and it helps trying to keep the front wheel down. Definitely get one as a long termer 🙂👍
Good review Chopsy. I came off a Tuono onto one of these. It’s a much better road bike for normal riding. Your right about the brakes, it’s a 22 revision. I’ve fitted a small Austin Racing end can and it does make a difference, cheap than the Akra too. I’m really pleased with mine, especially at the price vs it’s rivals.
I’d probably go for the XR myself, as long termer wouldn’t that present a greater contrast to the RR you can make some clear distinctions between the two bike types then🤔 (looks better at the front end as well). Enjoyed the Vlog chops (I always do - thanks for producing and uploading)
Always an enjoyable watch Chopsy. You definitely need to beg, borrow or bribe BMW for a 2023 model for a long term ride. It’s got a better looking front end too.
Loves those roads you were on the first day, it's basically my route when I'm heading up to Pete at South Coast Auto Detailing or up to Loomies. Hope you and the H2 are doing OK today.
Another mega review mate I'm considering maybe changing my 890r for a bm so would love to see more content but after a test ride it was maybe a touch too boring when compared to the ktm maybe need another go and more chopsy vids 😅 Sure you can tailor the electronics in dynamic pro mode
Great review (as always!)...I have the Gen 3 Sport version....changing the slip-on has added so much more character - must say though, can't wait to see you compare this to the new MT10 SP....
As your a Pompeii local now.Theres a lad who has a brace of 200@ the wheel sleepers. Gen2 s1000r/rr and xr1000r/rr Can be found decimating superbikes around the local area,uk and around Europe Btw the new version incoming comes with shiftcam and 200hp👍
I for one would be extremely interested in seeing you have this long term. I'm thinking about the jump from a Street Triple RS as being tall and having a dodgy back I'm after a bit more room. Also I always wonder what car drivers think when you are sat at the lights, talking to camera and waving your hands about. 🤣 Keep up the great work fella 👍
The Gen1 Sport I have with the Gillies Tooling and the bit's I've added etc then also the woolich tune and the full ARROW Competition Evo system im telling you now Chopsy is far from sterile 🤣🤣. Absolute animal and that using full twists🤣🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
ha excellent review as always and great advice on the rad covers, remember your review last year where you caught a stone (or something) that took out your radiator. you know I was this ...🙆close to pulling the trigger on the single R last year, but this year, wow they came out with _all_ the fixes to any shortcomings in previous models. I absolutely love a naked but am too old and untrustworthy with something like a superduke under my wrist control 😆
I do bar end mirrors for the Gen1-3 love my Gen1. Thinking of going for a gen3 next so testing one soon. Just tried a 23 MT10 and a 24 MT09 and wasn't keen on the ride of the 24 MT09. Staying away from KTM as horror stories and mates experiences have put me off.
I’m late to the party Chopsy but how would you say this compared to a streetfighter v2? I ask because there’s a Beemer dealer near me that has one of these for a great price and they expressed interest in perhaps getting my SF in on trade and I did demo it and enjoyed it, so much so that I am considering it but not quite sure on which side of the fence I would/should fall, all other things like the financing etc being equal.
Watching this, the bike seems so similar to the KTM range, they are already geared for a little lower in the range so need less revs, surley the 790/890 Dukes ride very similar ?
Your reviews continue to be some of the most thorough and entertaining. Thanks for sharing - now get back and finish up that garage😀
Thanks Paul 👍😁
The new 😊😅😊

@@benrideout9583 what year SP do you have ? I've been looking at 2018 and newer , I'd love a 22 but not sure if my funds will stretch with all the bits I need for touring.
Have owned one now for three months. Love it. Best bike I have ever owned. If you get one on long term loan I think you will end up buying it. 😂 ( plenty of room in the new garage.)
Yeah that's what I'm worried about! Haha
I was surprised the RR had better bottom end, should have had the same profile as the lower cam profile to give it the bottom end grunt at the expense of the top end as it is 30 hp less, I see the M1000R will have the shift cam and the power of the current RR, that will be the one to have as your longtermer.
Great review Chopsy!!! If you could have this bike or the new Speed Triple 1200 RS, which would you take and why? Thanks!!!
Having ridden one, I felt bar risers would keep it aggressive and speedy, yet make it easier on the hands and wrists, and make it a relaxed run around. Fast enough to freak yourself out, but good for everyday bumbling and fun.
Excellent review as always. They don't have Brembos on the BMW website ?
Interesting reevaluation on this bike Chops, …but you have missed out some vital information
1, Tank range to reserve light
2, Rough mpg figure
3, What’s the windblast like on a 70 + mph motorway cruise
Please see if you can include this information on future vids, ..if you can’t work out the mpg, I’m sure Greg will help you with the maths 😉😂!!
I can understand where you are coming from with this machine Chops. I myself prefer a in-line four engine for the road. That screaming engine sounds so fast when you hear them flying past. The BMW is a bike that I have had on my shortlist for a while now......maybe one day...lol
Great review and awesome camera work Chops , nice job 👍
Buy one chops! I did and I’m in love with it 😎
Please do get a long termer, please, pretty please. I’m really interested if you could fit some luggage as you’re saying. Looking forward to this if it happens.
Great video, and often it's worth revisiting bikes to test them in the real world instead of press launches.
For a long termer, I'd say go for it.
Thanks Rutger 👍
I’d watch long term content on this bike. Got lots of time for that.
Great to have a Chopsy video in the morning 👍 I like to have some weight on my wrists, I always want to feel what the front tyre's doing and it helps trying to keep the front wheel down. Definitely get one as a long termer 🙂👍
It would be awesome to get your reaction in a bmw m3comp😂 "Very Nice".
Awesome review Chops!
Random.. But what Jacket are you wearing with the pockets?
Nice bike & video as always.
Yes I do agree 👍 makes a fantastic useable road machine 👏
I’d probably go for the XR myself, as long termer wouldn’t that present a greater contrast to the RR you can make some clear distinctions between the two bike types then🤔 (looks better at the front end as well). Enjoyed the Vlog chops (I always do - thanks for producing and uploading)
I’d like to see you do a long term review, I’m interested in this bike.
Hey Chops! You have almost hit that 100,000 subscribers. Well done. Yes I would like to see more of the s1000r bike. Thank you, for sharing.
Thanks Jarod 👍
Awesome work love your videos! Will there be comparison video with Greg, With BMW S1000R and the New 2022 Yamaha MT10?
Always an enjoyable watch Chopsy. You definitely need to beg, borrow or bribe BMW for a 2023 model for a long term ride. It’s got a better looking front end too.
Well another fantastic review chops. Now here’s one. Speed RS or S1000 R??? Hope the garage is coming along well.
Great bike chops and another great review keep up the great vids👍
Loves those roads you were on the first day, it's basically my route when I'm heading up to Pete at South Coast Auto Detailing or up to Loomies.
Hope you and the H2 are doing OK today.
Great arnt they 👍
I think its time for an early xmas present to yourself?Good bike, cheers.
Morning great vlog as always I noticed in your last vid a this one you haven’t covered your Speedo .
Yeah speedo was set to KMH for some reason so didn't bother
Roger understand
How did you find the dds suspension as a larger person any pre load adjustments
Another mega review mate
I'm considering maybe changing my 890r for a bm so would love to see more content but after a test ride it was maybe a touch too boring when compared to the ktm maybe need another go and more chopsy vids 😅
Sure you can tailor the electronics in dynamic pro mode
After having just ridden and reviewed the new MT-10, what do you think comparing these two?
Great review (as always!)...I have the Gen 3 Sport version....changing the slip-on has added so much more character - must say though, can't wait to see you compare this to the new MT10 SP....
As your a Pompeii local now.Theres a lad who has a brace of 200@ the wheel sleepers.
Gen2 s1000r/rr and xr1000r/rr
Can be found decimating superbikes around the local area,uk and around Europe
Btw the new version incoming comes with shiftcam and 200hp👍
My 2021 model came with the Brambo callipers after the Hayes BMW ones were discontinued for a slight time
Loved your footage
Nice sharp picture 👍💯
ha excellent review as always and great advice on the rad covers, remember your review last year where you caught a stone (or something) that took out your radiator. you know I was this ...🙆close to pulling the trigger on the single R last year, but this year, wow they came out with _all_ the fixes to any shortcomings in previous models.
Definitely a great long term one for you next year. Great bike,
I have just bought a Gen2 S1000r and it easily out handles my MT10 and gen3 SDR. Id forgotten how much fun an in-line 4 is on the road.
My dream bike! Would very much be interested in a long termer.
I took one of these out on a test ride along with the sdr .. fair to say I ended up buying the sdr 🤭
Hey Chopsie, different subject I realise, but what’s the maximum lean angle you’ve had on the H2? I’ve heard they can really lean…?
Haha yeah 78 degrees!! 😁
What camera u using up front ? Recommend it ? Good vid aul boy 👍
Yeah it's the Insta360 X3, I have a review on the channel 👍
Definitely suggest a long term , I think it would be great 👍
Way to many wheels lol 😆
But a good idea for winter content Mr chops lol
Great vid as always
All the best 👍
Thanks Michael, I do fancy a couple of weeks of luxury in the M3 hehe 😜
Watching this, the bike seems so similar to the KTM range, they are already geared for a little lower in the range so need less revs, surley the 790/890 Dukes ride very similar ?
it's a great bike. can't wait to put some headers on mine. it'll be so different with some proper noise I think!
This vs the street triple?
