Becoming a teacher really depends on what type of teacher you're going for. There are different requirements in different states or schools when it comes to being a specific teacher. It doesn't matter what type of teacher you plan on being, whether you're teaching preschool or teaching university classes, being a teacher is hard, yet rewarding at the same time!

I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and to become a pre school teacher here we have something called TAFE ( not sure what it stands for) but basically, it's an education institution where you can get certificates for example, if I wanted to become a pre school teacher- I might do a certificate 3 in early childhood. The highest TAFE certificate is certificate 5. You can also get a diploma through TAFE. You can also do degrees at uni in early childhood usually called bachelor of early childhood.
Oh wow!! It’s definitely interesting to know what the requirements are on becoming a teacher in different countries! Thank you for sharing!
@@jeannelle_ super interesting finding out how education works in different countries. To become a primary school teacher ( we call it primary not elementary school here) you usually have to go to uni and get a degree in primary education. To become a high school teacher ( we don't have middle school here high school is 7 to 12) you also have to go to uni and get a degree in secondary education and the subject area you want to teach, for example, if I wanted to become a science teacher I would do a bachelor of science and then a masters of secondary education. TAFE is more for things you don't need a uni education for such as early childhood, you can also do things like hair and makeup and beauty services at tafe, hospitality, accounting, and even travel and tourism.
Where I can do that ?please tell me
I currently in training to be a substitute teacher but I am nervous about the role, knowing my background and or my teaching experienced. Thank you for your advice. This helps me a lot :)
Aw good luck! 💖 thank you for the support!
your teacher experienced?
I’m a 17 year old and one of my favorite things to do is watch and teach kids so my passion it to become like a kindergarten teacher or somewhere around that grade
That’s awesome!! 👏🏽 thank you for sharing!
@@jeannelle_ 🥰🥰
Me too! I just don’t know which colleges are good for early childhood education though 😭
@@themagicalcupcakeunicorn5755 There's lots to choose from! First decide if you'd want to stay where you're at right now or move to a different city or state.
ahhh your channel is ADORABLE!!
Great video, thanks for creating this!
thank you for this! i'm a junior in highschool right now, realizing i have like half a year until i have to start applying for uni's. im really thinking about teaching haha
Aw I’m glad it helped in some way! You’re def ahead of the game by thinking about what you might want to do! 👏🏽
thanks this was so informative! I’m Canadian and going into highschool this year, and ive told everybody that i wanna be a fire prevention off which would be nice ig but im not really into it and i feel like its not something i would actually like doing…. i havent told anyone that i think i wanna be an elementary school teacher 😬 i feel like although the pay isnt as high as other jobs and its alot of work, i would actually enjoy teacher especially with kids bc i love kids
I’m in my 2nd year of college right now and recently I thought about changing my psychology major to pursue early education instead. I’m not sure how to go about this or if it’ll delay my graduation. I’m afraid it would mean to stay in school longer considering I didn’t initially go into it for an education major, which means more money to spend
You’re in your 2nd year which is not too late! Make an appointment with your academic advisor and ask how you can change your major and what classes you need to take to pursue early education. Many psychology and education classes have similar classes so definitely meet with your academic advisor.
@@jeannelle_ last year i went to a 4 year college and had to transfer to a community college this year because I couldn’t afford to stay there any longer. My high school advisor whom I still keep in touch with recommended that I stay here for the year and then transfer to this cheaper university. I had spoken with my current advisor and he suggested I stick with general ed courses for now so that I can transfer seamlessly by the end of the year.
I still hope that those credits will still go into an early education major so that I don’t have to delay any more than I already am
Check your state requirements to become a teacher. In Texas you only need a bachelor’s. So you can get your degree in anything then become certified in the state. It’s super helpful!
I want to be a teacher but first I need to pass college algebra. 😭
You can do it!!!
Literally me
Me too
And congratulations On 1K
Thank you Saige! Appreciate it!
I live in Canada and the requirements here includes completing a degree and after completing a 2 year teacher program in Canada, Ontario.
Early childhood development teacher here ‼️‼️👩🏾🏫
woohoo! I def miss being an early childhood education teacher!
what grade do you teach?
Although I am still in Junior High I really want to become a teacher
That’s awesome you’re already thinking about what you want to do!
Do you think it would be smart to get a masters of education in PE before doing teachers prep, if your undergrad isn't in PE? I assume that way you'd be able to pass the content test and start working w restricted licensure while going through the prep program
To save money, if I could go back, I'd probably try to go to a school that offers a PE education major for undergrad. I didn't know what I wanted to do until after graduating with my undergrad. Depending on the school district, if they are desperate in need of a teacher, they will hire you with an emergency teaching license.
Hi new subscriber here !! I have my ged I really don’t know what I want to become but I really like being around kids and helping them learn so I want to be a teacher !! Idk where about I suppose to go what do I need to learn or start out at ? What to go to collage for ?
Hi Gabriella, the first thing I'd do is look at your community college and see if they have an education program. Do you like working with preschool age students or elementary? You can search up if your local community college has an early childhood education or elementary education program that will transfer you to a 4 year university.
@@jeannelle_ yes I love being around kids and ok I will look into it !!
*how has your teaching changed since the pandemic? BTW--New to your channel! :)*
It’s definitely weird teaching PE through a screen. I wasn’t used to it at first, but adjusted quickly. Change is always hard for me, but I know with time it’ll get better.
@@jeannelle_ I see! I can only imagine teaching Gym class through online some people don't take it very seriously.
@@Thefitty for sure!! It’s rough for the older students!
@@jeannelle_ thanks for sharing this Jeanelle!:)

Your Cute, 6:35 thank me later lololol the way she says it 🤣
This is my first year of college what classes shoulf I take if i wanna become a elementary teacher?
You should definitely talk to your academic advisor at your college/university. Each college/university has different requirement classes to take. Schedule to meet with your academic advisor to plan your school year or even the rest of the 4 years.
Learn to spell should first.
Hi how are you doing today??
I have done my bachelor’s degree in economics and political science in India. I have also done my master’s in public administration.
I want become a social studies teacher in Michigan state. I moved to Michigan from India it’s been 4 years. I want to become a teacher but I don’t wann do my bachelor’s again because I think it’s gonna take more time for me. Is it possible to become teacher in social studies after completing that teacher certification program??
Do we have to pass all the subject tests in order to become a teacher? They have mentioned subjects such as Reading, math, learning disabilities, integrated science, language arts etc.
Hi Shraddha,
Depends where you go for your teaching program. I would definitely talk to an academic advisor and see if your credits can transfer to avoid being in school really long. I would also ask if Michigan requires people to take state required exams. Definitely research for your specific location and the requirements in order yo teach at the state you’re living in.
@@jeannelle_ thank you for your precious reply😊. I have passed my English entrance test in order to start my classes for early childhood education program. To be honest I am confused now which career to choose and all. As per your suggestion I am gonna call my academic advisor tomorrow so that’d be better.
Crazy how you say that because I didn’t finish school but I would like to go back and get my ged
You can and you will! Keep staying motivated and you’ll eventually get to where you need to be. ✨
What about associates in behavioral science?
Associates usually take 2 years.
@@jeannelle_ I meant can that be a good degree for a teacher? And then Ba in teaching?
@@lovealwaysjasmine as long as you finish your bachelors in teaching you’re able to become a teacher.
