If you read Isaiah chapters 2,3 and 4, you'll realize that God was listing a number of cursing over Judah and Jerusalem because they had sinned against Him . The last few verses of Isaiah 3 were a warning to the women of Jerusalem because they had pride. So Isaiah 4:1, about 7 wives grabbing onto 1 man, is not a command, but a curse onto Jerusalem for their disobedience to God.

(They pray for a good wife) i mean to what extent will he go? Will he ever be satisfied? How many more? Will he be able to give love and attention to all of them? The basic reading of that scripture can not lend one to conclude that polygamy is the will of God. The text just says “in that day….” It does not say in that God requires a man to Mary seven women. 1) I think it's actually plausible that both marriages went sideways because if the women - you don't need two people to be in the wrong for a marriage to go wrong. Too many women have a problem with a strong man who will not bend to appease a woman and the woman leaves - that does not mean that man is at fault necessarily. First of all i tried to really listen but i was left with numerous questions. Anyway this is what i took away from this conversation :
1. This polygamous marriage feels like a cult.
2. It seems that the husband groomed these young women who were lost and didn't have/know their purpose in life.
3. The husband is never at fault or takes any responsibility for his role in the past divorces.
4. The Bible and religion have been used as a crutch for this marriage ( i didn't hear many if any common interests.)
5. The husband is soft spoken, a good Christian but we've all heard the tales of the soft spoken narcissists.( plus his whole persona just threw me off)
6.The age differences /probably financial ( from what i understood he is a doctor and the wives have settled to being wives) presents a power dynamic that does not sit well with me for a reason.

As christians "I think" we need to stop saying, "God told me" because, that kind of talk makes others who obviously don’t hear God speak in an audible voice (if this is the case with you) feel sub-par in their Christian life, even if your motives are pure. @@wendyann3333 don't misunderstand me please. I support polygamy and i am a Christian. The two are separate in my eyes. Polygamy is cultural but Christianity doesn't allow it so excuse me if i am having a hard time reconciling the two together.

Why can’t he see his wrongs in these situations? All his wives did something wrong and he didn’t? Surely if you’ve had 5 wives and 3 of them left then you’re the problem. He is also twisting the Word of God and choosing what supports him to suit his desires. I hope he meets God for who he truly is❤️

1) I think it's actually plausible that both marriages went sideways because if the women - you don't need two people to be in the wrong for a marriage to go wrong. Too many women have a problem with a strong man who will not bend to appease a woman and the woman leaves - that does not mean that man is at fault necessarily. God was not at fault when Israel rebelled against him constantly and even today Christians and the world still rebel against God
2) Marrying more than one wife is not "twisting" of scripture - many righteous men married more than one wife and were blessed by God and God had rules for polygyny and never once condemned it nor did Jesus condemn it. God Himself had/has two wives (Ezekiel 23) so polygyny is not wrong and people need to simply accept this 👍
