I have the Avant 906i's, and they do sound remarkably musical, with a really good presence, separation, and soundstage. They are a very forward sounding speaker, and vocals sound very natural, especially with some good lounge jazz. I also tried a pair of Aviano 6's, but they weren't a patch on the Avant's imo. The Avianos sounded loose, and muffled, and they were really difficult to position correctly. I could be sitting dead centre between the two speakers, and found that the sound seemed to be coming more from the left speaker. It was weird, but I didnt enjoy the Aviano's anything like the Avant's. I used the same Onkyo receiver to drive both sets of speakers, so its not like I changed my amp as well as the speakers. I now use the Avant's in my bedroom, and I have a pair of Monitor Audio Silver floorstanders in my main Listening/viewing room. The Aviano's? I sold them to somebody else, within weeks of buying them. Thats the difference between British made speakers, and Chinese made I guess. Chinese made speakers replicate sound. Whereas British made speakers replicate sound, ambience, and EMOTION, very well! 👍

The difference between the 908 and 908i are: 1. Upgraded binding posts/terminals. 2. A sleeker, more minimalist appearance. Side by side you would notice that the 908's have broad shamfered front baffle edges, whereas the 908i's baffle edges are much finer, and square. 3. The 908i's are given extra internal bracing I believe, to reduce cabinet resonance. And slight improvements to the crossovers. However, I Bi-Amp my 906i's, so I cut out the crossover completely. But as far as the drivers go, they are pretty much identical to the 908's. So only minimal differences really, that are said to make a significant difference in presenting a tighter bass, and a slightly improved sound stage. Some models in the range also have an internal chamber that can be filled with ballast, to further tighten the bass. But the 906i's which I own, sound great as they are.
