I had a follower named Grublik the Friendly. He was one of my best followers until he died. Some time later while I'm exploring Gorgoroth I get hit with a "GRAVEWALKER." I turn around and think I'm being ambushed till I see Grublik. All he says to me is "Hey boss I'm not dead....that's all I wanted to tell you" and walks off.
Hah, I had something like that happen to me a couple times, both times with my guy having died in the fight pits. The first time (and this guy happened to have been my first ever recruit), he comes back and says the same thing as the guy in this video. Then much later on in Minas Morgul, I lost one of my other guys in the fight pits (a "Maggot-Nest" Uruk), but this one does a "Cheated Death + Betrayal". I promptly shamed him, hunted him down again, shamed him a second time, killed him with a Brutalize stealth kill, and then he Cheated Death again, so I shamed him again.... :P
I'd actually bet that if my current bodyguard in Nurnen, "Olrok Brawler" were to ever die, he'd cheat death and stay loyal, since he has pulled a Savior for me no less than 5 times, and any time *he* was in trouble, I'd be quick to jump in and help him (I'm very much a "you watch my back, I watch yours" sort of person, so anyone who jumps in to help me will be treated very well and rewarded....betray me on the other hand, and they will quickly wish that I simply killed them upon their betrayal). His traits may not make him terribly hard for an experienced player to defeat, but other Captains regularly have a hard time dealing with him since he's a Savage-type Marauder Tank. He's actually my second ever bodyguard in Nurnen (his predecessor, "Shag the Large", is long dead after he betrayed me for apparent shits and giggles). The number of Followers whose lives I would put more value on than Olrok's are very few in number. One of those few being my Nurnen Overlord, "Muggrish the Warrior", as he's my SoM Follower and is even more of a beast in combat than Olrok is.

I had an Olog that was quite a brute, he had killed countless captains in a siege, he was COMPLETELY ruthless, he picked up a Uruk and threw it at another captain to kill him, during the siege though, they had a graug calling captain. the graug ended up killing him, because beasts did a lot of damage to him, much later in my play through, in the beginning of the shadow wars, I got to the overlord, which had just knocked me down the final time, was about to plant a club in my skull, this scarred up Olog grabs the guy, and hits him across the throne room, killing this Legendary Overlord, in one hit. It turned out to be The Dwarf Killer, now renamed to the beast slayer, and now he had a graug head on his shoulder, he was wearing it as armor for Christs sakes. He cheated death, walked through a battle field, and bunted this guy across the room, just to serve me.
i have one, Borghu the Machine he's called, he's unkillable, i once thought i lost him in a siege and suddenly while tracking down another Uruk, he showed up and kicked that uruk's ass

Pretty recently, I had an enemy that just wouldn’t die. His name was Snafu the endless, which was ironic, because every time he died, he just came back, as if nothing happened and tried to kill me again. One day, I had him on the ropes, though. I got him on the ground, and when he was on the ground, I felt bad for a bit. For some reason, I didn’t want to kill this guy, who had come back, again and again, to kill me. Later, I got into another fight with him, and I knew what had to be done. I executed him, reluctantly. After that, I haven’t found anyone like him to fight who would come back. What hurt the most was when I got to the final Carnan mission. In the final mission, you go to Minas Morgul and fight a bunch of basically zombies and Zog the Eternal the last time. And right as I was about to get rid of one ritual totem, I got the prompt of an Uruk getting your attention. It was Snafu. He was undead, and I kinda felt bad again. I remembered how fun it was to deal with a rival like that. And for the last time, I fought him.
I will always remember this story- During my first few hours of the game ( Act I ) I was attempting to kill a captain ( I don't remember his name), when suddenly he got me on the floor. There I am, bleeding, waiting for the final blow, but it doesn't come from him. A random orc from the crowd of many, a man in the back, sent his weapon flying my way. Upon my death, he laughed. He taunted me with his laughter. He said something along the lines of "Ha! I slayed the Tark! Actually, that's not a bad name!" I was then revealed to his title, Nazu. But that was his old name. Now he shall be refereed to as Nazu the Tark Slayer Over the next several hours of my game play, this orc never left my back. Every event that occurred, he was ready to foil my plan. Every single time, no matter where, he was there to kill me. He was only getting stronger. Many deaths by his hand later, along with many hours played, I decided the only way I was going to stop him was to kill him first. So i looked for him. (This was all still in Minus Ithil by the way) Eventually I found him. There he was, next to his pack of orcs, waiting for my next move so they could follow it. In a small little town with only a few houses. We met eyes. "Oh, so you've decided to come get killed again, hey? Let's get this over with." Then it was chaos. A pure 15 minutes went by feeling like an hour. I was not equipped for this. I had made this orc too powerful, and he knew me too well. It was a losing battle. I had only cut him down about half way, but eventually, I let loose. I unleashed my fury on him, and I had him on the ropes, but that wasn't all he had to offer. Nazu started kicking my ass! I had nearly nothing left in me, so I retreated on top of this small house as fast as i could, and there I waited, catching my breath. There he was, climbing the building, lust for blood. _My blood_. He finally peaked his head above the floor of the roof and, to his surprise, met a flaming arrow straight to the face. He immediately burst into flames, as the camera slowly zoomed in on his burning body, he fell back into the air, and and crashed into the hard ground. It was done. _He_ was done. I had gained this undying sense of accomplishment that I had finally gotten my revenge. Or at least I thought... Maybe a few moths of in-game time had passed, and I was just finishing up a caragor hunt down the narrow path at the bottom of a cliff. It was a dark, calm night. Strolling back up the ridge, something happened. I heard a shout. From behind me, I saw a man. Not a man, an orc. Burned. His skin seared and molded into terrifying ways. "You thought you could kill me, Tark? You thought wrong!" Nazu Flame of War was his new title, crafted from what I had done to him. I was behind what he had become. I was in complete shock. How? How could he have came back? That's impossible! I killed you! He ran at me, axes that once bloodied my skull in hand. It was a cold battle. He was fierce, but in no shape to beat me. I had the upper hand. This was the man that had killed me countless times. I knew how he worked, but this time he was different. Finally, the fatal blow came... from me. There he was, on the floor. This scenario seemed familiar, but something was different about it. I was the one ready to finish my opponent. "Do it, Tark! Finish me!" He gave one final attempt to comeback, but I swiftly countered, and my blade was already inside of him. His face of anguish, but also calmness, as I sheath my sword deeper in his flesh. He falls to the ground, and within moments, rolls off the cliff. The game portrays this as just another target eliminated, but to me this was something more. Much more. But, wait, what is that? An article of clothing, a cape, left on the cliff edge. I pick it up. I feel this is the end of my torment, but was it really torment? This cape, red with paint, scarred from blade, was a symbol. An artifact. This wasn't a nuisance, an enemy. This was a lesson. I kept it close. About a week went by without Nazu, and I had to admit, I missed him. No-one was there to ambush my mission, kill me a few times, ruin my experience. I was lonely. I decided to wear that cape, in remembrance of him. I would never remove it. Showing that determination is all you need in life, and if you believe you can do something, you *can!* I still come across new capes that offer way better stealth options or special features, but I decline. I still wear that cape to this very day. I will never forgot what I made Nazu become the day he was promoted upon my death, and I will never forget what he made me become. Determined. Whether it be Tark Slayer, or Flame of War, Nazu will always hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget him. That is why I love this game. 10/10 if you can become as immersed as me.
My orc dies and his name was the Gravewalker he looked cool and was one of my favorites then the next day he comes back and says “I’m back and I know when you saw me die you didn’t shed a tear but guess what I’m still loyal” and at that moment I knew he was one of the best orcs yet,brings a tear to my eye 😢.
Any time I've had an orc cheat death, and come back to me in loyalty, I always promote them to at least a warchief. Cheat death, and come back to me with no hard feelings? You're damn right you're getting promoted!
The first time this happened to me, I was completely overwhelmed. I felt there was something special about that Uruk, when he had earlier said "Next time you take the damage and I kill them, okay boss?" or something to that effect. A while later he died in battle, and then he came back during a siege and killed two other captains. Easiest Overlord choice I've ever had.
One of my captains I had set as my bodyguard due to him having an ability to summon a graug whenever he felt like it died to a captain I was fighting, the captain killed me and I went for revenge, as the captain was about to execute me my deceased bodyguard came back and shot the captain then summoned his graug to help me kill the remaining uruks, he's an overlord now
One time I was fighting an overlord and he had the ability no chance so when I was about to killed I excepted my fait but then all of sudden I see two flaming axe at left side of the screen and my deceased bodyguard appeared out of nowhere and chopped the guy in two. He’s overlord now
My personal bodyguard is a KingSlayer and so he has only one hand, the other one looks like a claw out of a arcade machine and his class trait lets him get out two crossbows and shoot them like akimbos and I’ve had him for about a week and I just now realized that it’s physically impossible for him to pull the trigger of the other crossbow

I once had a similar experience which I thought was pretty funny. My first captain of Nurnen, a The Drunk, died in battle while fighting my nemesis. I found it pretty unfortunate that he died because he and I really had a bond. I figured that if he were to come back from the dead, he'd be hostile for getting killed in my presence. Yet, after killing a warchief in a mission, just as I was walking away from Sharksburz, I suddenly heard in the distance; "WAIT, WHAT'S GOING ON?" After which he just said "Oh, Allright then" and walked off, still being my ally.
I remember the story of one of my most loyal and powerful orcs, I was level 5 I believe, still in minas ithill when I came across a random orc captain defender level 6, he was called Tûka and he didn't seem like much, he was sarcastic yet efficient, I lost that battle, I persued Tukâ for what seemed like hours, and every time he would kill me his legend would grow and he would grow in strength. Then, at some point I managed to down him, he laughed at me and said "Do It tark", I proceeded to cleave Tukâ in half, Many in-game months and about 2 months in real life later and I was just running around minas ithill (or minas morgul, I don't remember) when a strange orc tackled me, it was Tûka, back from the dead, his title now read "The Machine", I killed him and as he fell to his knees he said something along the lines of "Strike me down, and I'll come back stronger" I killed him and not too long after he came back stronger than before with an epic status, this continued until Tûka had become a legendary fiery defender that could 2 shot everything, by a miracle I managed to recruit him, he has saved me countless times and is currently my strongest orc. No matter if he dies I can be almost certain that he will cheat death once again and return stronger to the ranks of my army. The short story of how I met Tûka the Machine.

I had a same interaction with an orc yesterday named shaka .. he died in battlefield and cheated death and served my ass and fucking saved me twice this fool is one tough Orc .. i wish i can make him overlord in every Fortress i conquered 😂❤️
One of my olog captains died when I was defending a fortress, 20 minutes later I was tracking another captain and he showed up to betray me, and I couldn't recruit him again, what a damn shame.
My follower did the same but he was a maniac, so out of nowhere I hear "THEY WRIGGLE AND JIGGLE". He stopped around a bit and walked off, it was pretty confusing.
In my second playthrough my second recruit was an archer called Hura the Wasp with that (IMO) awesome black armor and yellow paint. I sent him to the fight pits were sadly he met his end. Or so I thought. Later on, after conquering the fort and reclaiming it from Brûz I was hunting down the only survivor of Brûz's supporters (the same guy that killed Hûra in the pits) and got to a caragor raid he was leading. Suddenly who I see ambushing the ambush but Hura himself with an awesome metal mask, riding a dire caragor and missing a hand, saying something like "I've been looking for you, you had this coming for a looong time." Sadly he "betrayed" me, but he didnt have iron will, so, after he single handedly mopped the floor with two captains of a higher level that him (surviving with a sliver of his health) all I had to do was go down and press B to rebrand him. He even said something like "yeah yeah I'm with you" My headcanon is that he never stopped being loyal, he just wanted to get his revenge before coming back. I took him with me and my favourite Uruk through the rest of that playthrough using redeployment orders.
I Remember when I first started playing I was wandering around getting captains for my first fortress raid and I met this captain, Ur-baru The Beast slayer, My First fight wasn't even a fight, it was a massacre, he kept on adapting to my attacks since I was new I just spammed left click In front of him, causing me to get headbutt and thrown away, after he knocked me down he began to taunt me, then stabbed me, after some more captains he came back with the new title Of the Tark slayer. I was nervous but confident that i could put up a fight, I Was wrong, he took me down with 0 effort then slayed me again, after my last captain I went towards the fortress and I was nearly there until, Ur-baru appeared i just ran, But Ur-baru had friends 2 other captains surrounded me, then one of my captains appeared and held them off as I escaped, I watched as his head was snapped off, I ran with fear since Ur-baru was even scarier because he was enraged by my fear, I did the fortress raid and Ur-baru became a war chief, after a few more times of Ur-baru clapping me he was a overlord, my god tier captain who saved me before then came back this time with a higher level armor a axe and a ability to summon graugs his name is rug, after a little peace without Ur-baru around I sent my captain to try to spy on them but, a few irl hours passed and I went to raid Ur-baru and take his fort This bastard had rug he stabbed rug and kicked him off then I was enraged so I slaughtered his men checkpoint by checkpoint showing no mercy all his captains died that day, I slammed through the doors as Ur-baru taunted me I slaughtered his olog then his men then i took his arms off and imapled him, i thought it was his end but. a little while later he appears again and is about to fully kill me then Rug comes in with the new title of the stich and slams Ur-baru down but Rug was lost that day forever after he was fully gone, this is the day I lost my mercy for orcs Ur-baru was killed by me twice more until he was finally gone he dropped the blade of terror the blade i wield to this day, the blade that avenged Rug a few irl days later I got on after completing the story and I had all skills most forts I was the true bright lord, Rug came back to me I heard a scream behind me " GRAVEWALKER " I Looked and he was there missing a hand He's a overlord and when I conquer a personal body guard and my best friend
Ok story time. Me in minas morgul. During some random mission I suddenly hear a voice quite familiar. Hohshlik of the flies. My ultimate nemesis from the first game had made it to the second and oh boy did he kill me often. And oh boy did I kill him often
For achievement purposes i made 2 blood brothers fight each other and for some reason the blood brother who won didn't attack me and i was confused.. then later the blood brother who got killed in the fighting pits came back and said that he always had a plan and is coming back to serve me once again lol
It seems like it yeah although his blood brother was a grumbling mute with some kind of metal mask over his mouth.. makes me think that one is the brains and the other is the brawn lol
1. Does anyone know how often followers cheat death, and what the odds are of them staying loyal after that? 2. Honestly, if an Uruk drags himself back from the brink of death to continue serving you, they deserve Overlord status. Because that’s loyalty beyond branding, since I personally theorize that branding is broken when an Uruk or Olog dies.
One of my Uruks who died in the pits came back to life yesterday. He approached me and said, "Pleasure to be back in the service of the Bright Lord." Then proceeded to stab the warchief I was fighting in the back. I promoted him to warchief. Thinking about promoting him to overlord next. But to answer you, they will remain just as loyal to you as they were before. Just be careful killing blood brothers of your captains and warchiefs. They will avenge their siblings...
Jamie Wanless I think it also has to do with how they died. If you let them bleed out then yes I believe they will mostly be hostile. If they die by an execution attack they may still be loyal.
So max about the blood brother thing it happened to me buuuut instead of me killing him my bodyguard did so the blood brother of him instead of attacking me he became the rival of the orc betrayal so long story short shamed betrayer and banished him made the blood brother my bodyguard and had him kill shamed orc

The chances of betraying, cheating death after being killed, ect. are slim, but will go up when you encounter the orc again. This is because the nemesis system tracks all interactions with orcs to make the most immersive interactions the next meeting, but also to know how many times you meet an orc in general. and becoming a Thunderbringer, The Machine, and other Orc titles that only can appear once are also affected by how many times the orc has interacted with you, this is also why things get boring or slow sometimes once you become too powerful.
I have an orc named Kuga Flame Monger or something like that, and everytime I purposely died to a soldier orc (to get more captains to recruit) he would save my life. He is a damn good shot and has OP fire arrows.
I had two of my guys cheat death. One guy immeadiatly betrayed. I was sad since just shamed bruz and he came back saying "you promised to protect me. What happened to our prommise". Litteralt nearly cried. Another time i was in a bad situation and my guy came back from the dead to serve me once again. Then later on in the same area he betrayed me for shaming him in the past
Theres something about Orcs that really touches me with their loyalty. I kind of wish they were a bit more neutral in the books but that wouldnt have been that fun i think
True but can you imagine how boring it would be explaining the process of explaining why orcs are good instead of simply saying they are an evil force ruin and conquest that are wicked in every way imaginable

Great Teacher That is true but i do find that the orcs in this are a bit of a special case because of how they were bred by sauron and sauromon to be monsters of war in this case the orcs are the stereotype of the medieval rougeish thug
One of my favorite orcs did that once, he was a dark tribe marksman and i thought him dead until a fortress assault he saved me proclaiming that it took more than what "killed" him to kill him You better believe he earned this overlord status
This happened to me once too, It was a legendary Orc I spent days to get that high rank. After he died in the pits, I went to go fight another battle. But suddenly, he returned to me! I'm so proud of him.
I have a Captain who was originally named Nazu the Elusive. After a few fights he earned the new title of the Dangerous. There was one crucial flaw about him though that I hated, he was Terrified Of Fire. Literally every time I saw him in free roam he was running away. I finally got fed up with him and had Mormog the Machine kill his ass, which was successful. But you know what really takes the cake? I’m fighting a Captain that betrayed me and he comes back, saying “Bright Lord! I cheat death to serve you once more!” And then immediately rubs away because the Captain I had had a fire weapon. Moral of the Story: Don’t recruit Captains who are terrified of a common elemental attack.
I had an olog who died fighting in the pits show back up. Problem is, his place had long since been taken so even though i made him a warchiefs body guard before he left, hes nowhere to be found on the army screen now. Hes out there somewhere, skinning orcs for their hide.
Sometimes in the pits I put one of mine to fight a opponent, and then all of sudden instead of the opponent, another Uruk of mine comes in and fights with the Uruk I chose to fight.
Dante, when you are in another region your orc still fights other orcs in missions so if you do enough missions in one region that’s not there he could die from another mission, and Doc Holiday, here’s a tip next time if there is a next replace a follower you don’t like with him then the other follower disappears and your cheated death one returns
One thing i remember about this game was when i first played it and during the first act of the game ,where you only have one city to explore, one of the orc (i know they aren't orcs ,but close enough so idgaf ) capitans had a very debilitating weakness , "fear of the gravewalker" ,gravewalker being you, so every time he sees me ,he does his whole dramatic speech about about how he is going to kill me and all that , then gameplay resumes , the fear activates ,and he runs away, i found that utterly ,gutbusting ,hilarious, so my favorite activity during the early game consisted of stalking him ,dropping behind like i'm batman and scaring the crap out of him ,repeat ad nasuem ,well ,in the final part of act 1 , you have to fight your current nemesis , and the game thought that he was my nemesis (because of how many times i started a "battle" with him) and there is no mercy in this fight ,you want to continue? Kill your nemesis ,so ,very reluctanly, i killed him and was sad for a while as i wanted to recrute him into my army . Then much later into the game i go back to the first city and the moment i enter i'm ambushed by none other that the capitain i thought i killed in that final mission of act 1 ,now turned into a cyborg and no longer afraid of me ,my reaction was something like ,"with glee : you are alive!?" I decided to put my original plan to recruit him into my army to action and succeeded . Something similar happened in the first game ,but this story has a much sadder ending , so in the game ,some of the capitains had the moniker "the idiot" which is exactly what it sounds like ,they are morons ,have trouble with big words or coming with cool ,epic intros , they stutter a lot trying ,and failing ,to find their words and all in all , are comedy gold , one of the capitains i took with me and even made warchief because of how much he made me laugh ,was an idiot ,well at some point in the game ,i end up (pretty sure it was accidental too) using the "kill underlings" command ,and wouldn't you know it ,he happened to be in range and ,therefore ,be killed too ,i was devastated .
For you all who don't know how to trigger this, there's an invisible bar that shows how loyal they are to you. If you do things they like (aka have them kill someone) they'll be loyal and when return they'll still serve you.

The nemesis system is amazing!!! I love it sooo much this moment is it showing its worth, giving luck but at the same time shattering your luck. I can’t believe your that lucky. I bet you were happy when he came back
I will say this, when I tried to put one of my most beloved orcs down, because I broke his mind when he betrayed because he thought I was the reason why his blood brother was dead, but I wasn't and they were fighting each other already and I tried to stop it. But when he came back, I was worried that he was gonna try to kill me again, but thankfully no, reason I was scared of him is because he has the Enraged by Injury perk and I really don't like fighting orcs with that.
Shadow Wolf that happend to me ,he was one of my warchief and i removed him to level up,but i forgot him .....he died with level 3 when i was try to remove iron will ,but lucky he came back and now is a overlord
Holow _101 for me, he was my favorite bodyguard and I made him legendary since he couldn't be so easily defeated. The only two ways that I have been able to figure out how to counter that perk is another uruk with the same perk or an olog with the tank class
Holow _101 yeah, I have another orc in the snow region called The Mad, and for a good reason too. He gets angry at just about everything around him, and the quotes he said just make laugh so hard all the time. But, we made me sad about him is that he died during a fort assault because the wall exploded as he was climbing it, which has happened to quite a few of my orcs, and I didn't want to lose him forever so I had to reanimate him, but he is a force to be reckon with since he takes out just about all the enemy orcs that I don't get an introduction with
I dont know if this is what happened to you, but sometimes, an orc will say that you killed their blood brother when you really didnt if the orc has that ability where he makes multiple versions of himself, and you end up killing one of those copies
Same thing happened with one of my boys. The only problem with that is that I was torn between whether to make him overlord or bodyguard. I always have that dilemma with orcs who serve me well.
I just love all the comments of people talking about their most loyal orcs that came back from the dead had to fight for them. It always manages to bring a smile to my face.
I had a guy named pushkrimp long shot he died in a raid but a few hours later he shows up saying "Hey boss i aint dead yet" and i smiled pushkrimp was the best

Charlie Higgins there is perk that an uruk can get called "Enraged by Rival". So my guess is that the raven looking dude didn't like him in his presence
I was raiding a fort and my orc bled out, after I took it over he came back and he cheated death and I was expecting him to betray me but he didn't. He just came back as an ally still.
Sebastian Isaiah Yeah, they definitely hate it when you replace them as overlord lol which is to be expected. One time i ended up replacing my overlord and eventually he saved my life from another captain. He said "remember this next time you need an overlord!" I made him the overlord again immediately afterwards for fear that he would betray me otherwise lol

i also had a follower named "skank the stitch" but he died while raiding a fort and then when i ambushed he said "STILL ALIVE..AS PROMISED I WOULD NOT LEAVE YOU"that was the best incounter i ever had
I had and still have one bodyguard who I made a warlord. This beastman literally saved me 7 times. Popping out of nowhere to give me a last chance so many times. I keep him as a warlord now because I couldn't bare to lose him. 😔. Absolute legend.

Hah, I had something like that happen to me a couple times, both times with my guy having died in the fight pits. The first time (and this guy happened to have been my first ever recruit), he comes back and says the same thing as the guy in this video. Then much later on in Minas Morgul, I lost one of my other guys in the fight pits (a "Maggot-Nest" Uruk), but this one does a "Cheated Death + Betrayal". I promptly shamed him, hunted him down again, shamed him a second time, killed him with a Brutalize stealth kill, and then he Cheated Death again, so I shamed him again.... :P
I'd actually bet that if my current bodyguard in Nurnen, "Olrok Brawler" were to ever die, he'd cheat death and stay loyal, since he has pulled a Savior for me no less than 5 times, and any time *he* was in trouble, I'd be quick to jump in and help him (I'm very much a "you watch my back, I watch yours" sort of person, so anyone who jumps in to help me will be treated very well and rewarded....betray me on the other hand, and they will quickly wish that I simply killed them upon their betrayal). His traits may not make him terribly hard for an experienced player to defeat, but other Captains regularly have a hard time dealing with him since he's a Savage-type Marauder Tank. He's actually my second ever bodyguard in Nurnen (his predecessor, "Shag the Large", is long dead after he betrayed me for apparent shits and giggles). The number of Followers whose lives I would put more value on than Olrok's are very few in number. One of those few being my Nurnen Overlord, "Muggrish the Warrior", as he's my SoM Follower and is even more of a beast in combat than Olrok is.

I had an Olog that was quite a brute, he had killed countless captains in a siege, he was COMPLETELY ruthless, he picked up a Uruk and threw it at another captain to kill him, during the siege though, they had a graug calling captain. the graug ended up killing him, because beasts did a lot of damage to him, much later in my play through, in the beginning of the shadow wars, I got to the overlord, which had just knocked me down the final time, was about to plant a club in my skull, this scarred up Olog grabs the guy, and hits him across the throne room, killing this Legendary Overlord, in one hit. It turned out to be The Dwarf Killer, now renamed to the beast slayer, and now he had a graug head on his shoulder, he was wearing it as armor for Christs sakes. He cheated death, walked through a battle field, and bunted this guy across the room, just to serve me.

Pretty recently, I had an enemy that just wouldn’t die. His name was Snafu the endless, which was ironic, because every time he died, he just came back, as if nothing happened and tried to kill me again. One day, I had him on the ropes, though. I got him on the ground, and when he was on the ground, I felt bad for a bit. For some reason, I didn’t want to kill this guy, who had come back, again and again, to kill me. Later, I got into another fight with him, and I knew what had to be done. I executed him, reluctantly. After that, I haven’t found anyone like him to fight who would come back. What hurt the most was when I got to the final Carnan mission. In the final mission, you go to Minas Morgul and fight a bunch of basically zombies and Zog the Eternal the last time. And right as I was about to get rid of one ritual totem, I got the prompt of an Uruk getting your attention. It was Snafu. He was undead, and I kinda felt bad again. I remembered how fun it was to deal with a rival like that. And for the last time, I fought him.

I will always remember this story-
During my first few hours of the game ( Act I ) I was attempting to kill a captain ( I don't remember his name), when suddenly he got me on the floor. There I am, bleeding, waiting for the final blow, but it doesn't come from him. A random orc from the crowd of many, a man in the back, sent his weapon flying my way. Upon my death, he laughed. He taunted me with his laughter. He said something along the lines of "Ha! I slayed the Tark! Actually, that's not a bad name!" I was then revealed to his title, Nazu. But that was his old name. Now he shall be refereed to as Nazu the Tark Slayer Over the next several hours of my game play, this orc never left my back. Every event that occurred, he was ready to foil my plan. Every single time, no matter where, he was there to kill me. He was only getting stronger.
Many deaths by his hand later, along with many hours played, I decided the only way I was going to stop him was to kill him first. So i looked for him. (This was all still in Minus Ithil by the way) Eventually I found him. There he was, next to his pack of orcs, waiting for my next move so they could follow it. In a small little town with only a few houses. We met eyes. "Oh, so you've decided to come get killed again, hey? Let's get this over with." Then it was chaos. A pure 15 minutes went by feeling like an hour. I was not equipped for this. I had made this orc too powerful, and he knew me too well. It was a losing battle. I had only cut him down about half way, but eventually, I let loose. I unleashed my fury on him, and I had him on the ropes, but that wasn't all he had to offer. Nazu started kicking my ass! I had nearly nothing left in me, so I retreated on top of this small house as fast as i could, and there I waited, catching my breath.
There he was, climbing the building, lust for blood. _My blood_. He finally peaked his head above the floor of the roof and, to his surprise, met a flaming arrow straight to the face. He immediately burst into flames, as the camera slowly zoomed in on his burning body, he fell back into the air, and and crashed into the hard ground. It was done. _He_ was done. I had gained this undying sense of accomplishment that I had finally gotten my revenge. Or at least I thought...
Maybe a few moths of in-game time had passed, and I was just finishing up a caragor hunt down the narrow path at the bottom of a cliff. It was a dark, calm night. Strolling back up the ridge, something happened. I heard a shout. From behind me, I saw a man. Not a man, an orc. Burned. His skin seared and molded into terrifying ways. "You thought you could kill me, Tark? You thought wrong!" Nazu Flame of War was his new title, crafted from what I had done to him. I was behind what he had become. I was in complete shock. How? How could he have came back? That's impossible! I killed you! He ran at me, axes that once bloodied my skull in hand. It was a cold battle. He was fierce, but in no shape to beat me. I had the upper hand. This was the man that had killed me countless times. I knew how he worked, but this time he was different. Finally, the fatal blow came... from me. There he was, on the floor. This scenario seemed familiar, but something was different about it. I was the one ready to finish my opponent. "Do it, Tark! Finish me!" He gave one final attempt to comeback, but I swiftly countered, and my blade was already inside of him. His face of anguish, but also calmness, as I sheath my sword deeper in his flesh. He falls to the ground, and within moments, rolls off the cliff. The game portrays this as just another target eliminated, but to me this was something more. Much more. But, wait, what is that? An article of clothing, a cape, left on the cliff edge. I pick it up. I feel this is the end of my torment, but was it really torment? This cape, red with paint, scarred from blade, was a symbol. An artifact. This wasn't a nuisance, an enemy. This was a lesson. I kept it close.
About a week went by without Nazu, and I had to admit, I missed him. No-one was there to ambush my mission, kill me a few times, ruin my experience. I was lonely. I decided to wear that cape, in remembrance of him. I would never remove it. Showing that determination is all you need in life, and if you believe you can do something, you *can!* I still come across new capes that offer way better stealth options or special features, but I decline. I still wear that cape to this very day.
I will never forgot what I made Nazu become the day he was promoted upon my death, and I will never forget what he made me become. Determined.
Whether it be Tark Slayer, or Flame of War, Nazu will always hold a special place in my heart.
I will never forget him.
That is why I love this game. 10/10 if you can become as immersed as me.

My orc dies and his name was the Gravewalker he looked cool and was one of my favorites then the next day he comes back and says “I’m back and I know when you saw me die you didn’t shed a tear but guess what I’m still loyal” and at that moment I knew he was one of the best orcs yet,brings a tear to my eye 😢.
Any time I've had an orc cheat death, and come back to me in loyalty, I always promote them to at least a warchief. Cheat death, and come back to me with no hard feelings? You're damn right you're getting promoted!

The first time this happened to me, I was completely overwhelmed.
I felt there was something special about that Uruk, when he had earlier said "Next time you take the damage and I kill them, okay boss?" or something to that effect. A while later he died in battle, and then he came back during a siege and killed two other captains.

One of my captains I had set as my bodyguard due to him having an ability to summon a graug whenever he felt like it died to a captain I was fighting, the captain killed me and I went for revenge, as the captain was about to execute me my deceased bodyguard came back and shot the captain then summoned his graug to help me kill the remaining uruks, he's an overlord now
That's how you know a bodyguard is great at his job
I had one that can do that, if you give a beast master a gang, the gang rides caragors, so he had cavalry, and a graug.

One time I was fighting an overlord and he had the ability no chance so when I was about to killed I excepted my fait but then all of sudden I see two flaming axe at left side of the screen and my deceased bodyguard appeared out of nowhere and chopped the guy in two. He’s overlord now
My personal bodyguard is a KingSlayer and so he has only one hand, the other one looks like a claw out of a arcade machine and his class trait lets him get out two crossbows and shoot them like akimbos and I’ve had him for about a week and I just now realized that it’s physically impossible for him to pull the trigger of the other crossbow

I once had a similar experience which I thought was pretty funny. My first captain of Nurnen, a The Drunk, died in battle while fighting my nemesis. I found it pretty unfortunate that he died because he and I really had a bond. I figured that if he were to come back from the dead, he'd be hostile for getting killed in my presence. Yet, after killing a warchief in a mission, just as I was walking away from Sharksburz, I suddenly heard in the distance; "WAIT, WHAT'S GOING ON?" After which he just said "Oh, Allright then" and walked off, still being my ally.

I remember the story of one of my most loyal and powerful orcs, I was level 5 I believe, still in minas ithill when I came across a random orc captain defender level 6, he was called Tûka and he didn't seem like much, he was sarcastic yet efficient, I lost that battle, I persued Tukâ for what seemed like hours, and every time he would kill me his legend would grow and he would grow in strength. Then, at some point I managed to down him, he laughed at me and said "Do It tark", I proceeded to cleave Tukâ in half, Many in-game months and about 2 months in real life later and I was just running around minas ithill (or minas morgul, I don't remember) when a strange orc tackled me, it was Tûka, back from the dead, his title now read "The Machine", I killed him and as he fell to his knees he said something along the lines of "Strike me down, and I'll come back stronger" I killed him and not too long after he came back stronger than before with an epic status, this continued until Tûka had become a legendary fiery defender that could 2 shot everything, by a miracle I managed to recruit him, he has saved me countless times and is currently my strongest orc. No matter if he dies I can be almost certain that he will cheat death once again and return stronger to the ranks of my army.

One of my olog captains died when I was defending a fortress, 20 minutes later I was tracking another captain and he showed up to betray me, and I couldn't recruit him again, what a damn shame.

In my second playthrough my second recruit was an archer called Hura the Wasp with that (IMO) awesome black armor and yellow paint.
I sent him to the fight pits were sadly he met his end. Or so I thought. Later on, after conquering the fort and reclaiming it from Brûz I was hunting down the only survivor of Brûz's supporters (the same guy that killed Hûra in the pits) and got to a caragor raid he was leading.
Suddenly who I see ambushing the ambush but Hura himself with an awesome metal mask, riding a dire caragor and missing a hand, saying something like "I've been looking for you, you had this coming for a looong time."
Sadly he "betrayed" me, but he didnt have iron will, so, after he single handedly mopped the floor with two captains of a higher level that him (surviving with a sliver of his health) all I had to do was go down and press B to rebrand him.
He even said something like "yeah yeah I'm with you"
My headcanon is that he never stopped being loyal, he just wanted to get his revenge before coming back.
I took him with me and my favourite Uruk through the rest of that playthrough using redeployment orders.
I Remember when I first started playing I was wandering around getting captains for my first fortress raid and I met this captain, Ur-baru The Beast slayer, My First fight wasn't even a fight, it was a massacre, he kept on adapting to my attacks since I was new I just spammed left click In front of him, causing me to get headbutt and thrown away, after he knocked me down he began to taunt me, then stabbed me, after some more captains he came back with the new title Of the Tark slayer. I was nervous but confident that i could put up a fight, I Was wrong, he took me down with 0 effort then slayed me again, after my last captain I went towards the fortress and I was nearly there until, Ur-baru appeared i just ran, But Ur-baru had friends 2 other captains surrounded me, then one of my captains appeared and held them off as I escaped, I watched as his head was snapped off, I ran with fear since Ur-baru was even scarier because he was enraged by my fear, I did the fortress raid and Ur-baru became a war chief, after a few more times of Ur-baru clapping me he was a overlord, my god tier captain who saved me before then came back this time with a higher level armor a axe and a ability to summon graugs his name is rug, after a little peace without Ur-baru around I sent my captain to try to spy on them but, a few irl hours passed and I went to raid Ur-baru and take his fort
This bastard had rug he stabbed rug and kicked him off then I was enraged so I slaughtered his men checkpoint by checkpoint showing no mercy all his captains died that day, I slammed through the doors as Ur-baru taunted me I slaughtered his olog then his men then i took his arms off and imapled him, i thought it was his end but. a little while later he appears again and is about to fully kill me then Rug comes in with the new title of the stich and slams Ur-baru down but Rug was lost that day forever after he was fully gone, this is the day I lost my mercy for orcs Ur-baru was killed by me twice more until he was finally gone he dropped the blade of terror the blade i wield to this day, the blade that avenged Rug a few irl days later I got on after completing the story and I had all skills most forts I was the true bright lord, Rug came back to me I heard a scream behind me " GRAVEWALKER " I Looked and he was there missing a hand He's a overlord and when I conquer a personal body guard and my best friend

For achievement purposes i made 2 blood brothers fight each other and for some reason the blood brother who won didn't attack me and i was confused.. then later the blood brother who got killed in the fighting pits came back and said that he always had a plan and is coming back to serve me once again lol
guess the brothers expected that you'd pit them against each other so they made a plan

1. Does anyone know how often followers cheat death, and what the odds are of them staying loyal after that?
2. Honestly, if an Uruk drags himself back from the brink of death to continue serving you, they deserve Overlord status. Because that’s loyalty beyond branding, since I personally theorize that branding is broken when an Uruk or Olog dies.
One of my Uruks who died in the pits came back to life yesterday. He approached me and said, "Pleasure to be back in the service of the Bright Lord." Then proceeded to stab the warchief I was fighting in the back. I promoted him to warchief. Thinking about promoting him to overlord next. But to answer you, they will remain just as loyal to you as they were before. Just be careful killing blood brothers of your captains and warchiefs. They will avenge their siblings...
Jamie Wanless I think it also has to do with how they died. If you let them bleed out then yes I believe they will mostly be hostile. If they die by an execution attack they may still be loyal.
So max about the blood brother thing it happened to me buuuut instead of me killing him my bodyguard did so the blood brother of him instead of attacking me he became the rival of the orc betrayal so long story short shamed betrayer and banished him made the blood brother my bodyguard and had him kill shamed orc

The chances of betraying, cheating death after being killed, ect. are slim, but will go up when you encounter the orc again. This is because the nemesis system tracks all interactions with orcs to make the most immersive interactions the next meeting, but also to know how many times you meet an orc in general. and becoming a Thunderbringer, The Machine, and other Orc titles that only can appear once are also affected by how many times the orc has interacted with you, this is also why things get boring or slow sometimes once you become too powerful.
I have an orc named Kuga Flame Monger or something like that, and everytime I purposely died to a soldier orc (to get more captains to recruit) he would save my life. He is a damn good shot and has OP fire arrows.

I had two of my guys cheat death. One guy immeadiatly betrayed. I was sad since just shamed bruz and he came back saying "you promised to protect me. What happened to our prommise". Litteralt nearly cried. Another time i was in a bad situation and my guy came back from the dead to serve me once again. Then later on in the same area he betrayed me for shaming him in the past

One of my favorite orcs did that once, he was a dark tribe marksman and i thought him dead until a fortress assault he saved me proclaiming that it took more than what "killed" him to kill him

This has happened to me before, it filled my heart with joy
This happened to me once too, It was a legendary Orc I spent days to get that high rank. After he died in the pits, I went to go fight another battle. But suddenly, he returned to me! I'm so proud of him.
I have a Captain who was originally named Nazu the Elusive. After a few fights he earned the new title of the Dangerous. There was one crucial flaw about him though that I hated, he was Terrified Of Fire. Literally every time I saw him in free roam he was running away. I finally got fed up with him and had Mormog the Machine kill his ass, which was successful. But you know what really takes the cake? I’m fighting a Captain that betrayed me and he comes back, saying “Bright Lord! I cheat death to serve you once more!” And then immediately rubs away because the Captain I had had a fire weapon. Moral of the Story: Don’t recruit Captains who are terrified of a common elemental attack.

I've come across Overlords that are terrified of fire in Online Conquests and just "Well this'll be simple"
I have a captain who is afraid of fire, but the problem is he has a fire weapon, so he runs away all the time :D
I had an olog who died fighting in the pits show back up. Problem is, his place had long since been taken so even though i made him a warchiefs body guard before he left, hes nowhere to be found on the army screen now. Hes out there somewhere, skinning orcs for their hide.
Doc Holliday check the garrison. He might be there.

Sometimes in the pits I put one of mine to fight a opponent, and then all of sudden instead of the opponent, another Uruk of mine comes in and fights with the Uruk I chose to fight.
Dante, when you are in another region your orc still fights other orcs in missions so if you do enough missions in one region that’s not there he could die from another mission, and Doc Holiday, here’s a tip next time if there is a next replace a follower you don’t like with him then the other follower disappears and your cheated death one returns
GOOD you put him as your overlord he deserves that for his literally undying loyalty
One thing i remember about this game was when i first played it and during the first act of the game ,where you only have one city to explore, one of the orc (i know they aren't orcs ,but close enough so idgaf ) capitans had a very debilitating weakness , "fear of the gravewalker" ,gravewalker being you, so every time he sees me ,he does his whole dramatic speech about about how he is going to kill me and all that , then gameplay resumes , the fear activates ,and he runs away, i found that utterly ,gutbusting ,hilarious, so my favorite activity during the early game consisted of stalking him ,dropping behind like i'm batman and scaring the crap out of him ,repeat ad nasuem ,well ,in the final part of act 1 , you have to fight your current nemesis , and the game thought that he was my nemesis (because of how many times i started a "battle" with him) and there is no mercy in this fight ,you want to continue? Kill your nemesis ,so ,very reluctanly, i killed him and was sad for a while as i wanted to recrute him into my army .
Then much later into the game i go back to the first city and the moment i enter i'm ambushed by none other that the capitain i thought i killed in that final mission of act 1 ,now turned into a cyborg and no longer afraid of me ,my reaction was something like ,"with glee : you are alive!?" I decided to put my original plan to recruit him into my army to action and succeeded .
Something similar happened in the first game ,but this story has a much sadder ending , so in the game ,some of the capitains had the moniker "the idiot" which is exactly what it sounds like ,they are morons ,have trouble with big words or coming with cool ,epic intros , they stutter a lot trying ,and failing ,to find their words and all in all , are comedy gold , one of the capitains i took with me and even made warchief because of how much he made me laugh ,was an idiot ,well at some point in the game ,i end up (pretty sure it was accidental too) using the "kill underlings" command ,and wouldn't you know it ,he happened to be in range and ,therefore ,be killed too ,i was devastated .
For you all who don't know how to trigger this, there's an invisible bar that shows how loyal they are to you. If you do things they like (aka have them kill someone) they'll be loyal and when return they'll still serve you.
Oh I see, so my decision to order my orcs to enter missions, then help their missions, is why I tend not to have very many rebellions.
Fuck me... Fell victim to another of your own Orcs throwing a temper-tantrum, and he doesn't resent it at all.

The nemesis system is amazing!!! I love it sooo much this moment is it showing its worth, giving luck but at the same time shattering your luck. I can’t believe your that lucky. I bet you were happy when he came back

I will say this, when I tried to put one of my most beloved orcs down, because I broke his mind when he betrayed because he thought I was the reason why his blood brother was dead, but I wasn't and they were fighting each other already and I tried to stop it. But when he came back, I was worried that he was gonna try to kill me again, but thankfully no, reason I was scared of him is because he has the Enraged by Injury perk and I really don't like fighting orcs with that.
Shadow Wolf that happend to me ,he was one of my warchief and i removed him to level up,but i forgot him .....he died with level 3 when i was try to remove iron will ,but lucky he came back and now is a overlord
Holow _101 for me, he was my favorite bodyguard and I made him legendary since he couldn't be so easily defeated. The only two ways that I have been able to figure out how to counter that perk is another uruk with the same perk or an olog with the tank class

Holow _101 yeah, I have another orc in the snow region called The Mad, and for a good reason too. He gets angry at just about everything around him, and the quotes he said just make laugh so hard all the time. But, we made me sad about him is that he died during a fort assault because the wall exploded as he was climbing it, which has happened to quite a few of my orcs, and I didn't want to lose him forever so I had to reanimate him, but he is a force to be reckon with since he takes out just about all the enemy orcs that I don't get an introduction with
I dont know if this is what happened to you, but sometimes, an orc will say that you killed their blood brother when you really didnt if the orc has that ability where he makes multiple versions of himself, and you end up killing one of those copies
Same thing happened with one of my boys. The only problem with that is that I was torn between whether to make him overlord or bodyguard. I always have that dilemma with orcs who serve me well.
I just love all the comments of people talking about their most loyal orcs that came back from the dead had to fight for them.
It always manages to bring a smile to my face.
I wish they allowed them to change there gear like in Shadow of Mordor when they get promoted

Charlie Higgins there is perk that an uruk can get called "Enraged by Rival". So my guess is that the raven looking dude didn't like him in his presence

This happened to me too my follower said "even death won't stop me from following you" and it warmed my heart
I was raiding a fort and my orc bled out, after I took it over he came back and he cheated death and I was expecting him to betray me but he didn't. He just came back as an ally still.

One time i ended up replacing my overlord and eventually he saved my life from another captain. He said "remember this next time you need an overlord!" I made him the overlord again immediately afterwards for fear that he would betray me otherwise lol

i also had a follower named "skank the stitch" but he died while raiding a fort and then when i ambushed he said "STILL ALIVE..AS PROMISED I WOULD NOT LEAVE YOU"that was the best incounter i ever had
I had and still have one bodyguard who I made a warlord. This beastman literally saved me 7 times. Popping out of nowhere to give me a last chance so many times. I keep him as a warlord now because I couldn't bare to lose him. 😔. Absolute legend.

I had a bodyguard named Rash the Swordmaster. He died saving me from a really strong guy, and then came back to save me again from the same dude.
