The Glasgow Graveyard you must go to before you Die!

Glasgow visit Part 2. August 2021
I stayed in a hostel for 4 nights in Glasgow City centre and did the tourist thing. Hard to believe what amazing places there are just on your doorstep!
Before I'd have considered Glasgow just for shopping and the nightlife, but there are some really great restaurants, parks, museums, galleries and views that are really spectacular
The highlight for me was the Necropolis. From high up there are some amazing views of the city and Cathedral.

The kind of jeopardy opening background music, and North European cityscape, I expected Jason Bourne to jump out of the bushes.

The Necropolis ,,,, my playground when I was a wee boy ,,, I used to get a lovely echo underneath the Bridge of Sighs. Grandma lived at 74 John Knox St. I was too terrified to cross the street as Granny said that " bad men will jump over the wall and grab ye " ,,, the big black walls of Duke Street Prison ,, Glasgow, early fifties ,, quite a place.

My uncle Harry was the night security man in kelvin Hall museum for many years, my granny an I where sometimes given permission to visit after it closed at night, it was a wondrous place to me. I have very fond memories of going there, then we would go for a mcCallum ( ice cream cone) .

I grew up around the corner from the Graveyard in 1948, on Alexandra Parade, that Tenement was pulled down years ago and is now the Royal Hospital, that I was born in, anyhoo, as kids we used to play in the Graveyard as that was the only grass we knew as all around us was just trash, rubbish, and we always got chased out by the old Parkie...
I left Glasgow, or Glesga as we call it, in 1966 and never lived there again and it sure is a very different City than the one I grew up in and its so much better.

Well done you've managed to capture all the best bits of the city centre. Not easy since they're so widespread throughout the city. Congratulations.
